These images take us back to the Evening Telegraph Holiday Exhibition, an annual event that took place in Dundee from 1988 until 1995.
The 1980s and 1990s was a heyday for high street travel agents, which was the only way to book a package holiday before the digital age and smart tech.
It was known as the 'sunshine weekend'.
It was the perfect place to plan for the Dundee Fortnight.
There were 'offers galore'.
Prize draws and competitions was another powerful pull.

Or a whole Edam cheese with a cheese slicer?
Holiday 88 was held on January 16 and 17 in the Marryat Hall.
Admission was free and over 7,000 people attended.
Dundee's 'biggest and best travel exhibition' was sponsored by the Evening Telegraph in conjunction with leading holiday and travel companies.
These included Barratt Timeshare, DP&L Travel, Executive Travel, Lunn Polly, AT Mays, Ramsay World Travel, Saga and Tayside Transport Company.
The Tele said the exhibitors would have all the answers to your holiday questions 'whether you're on the lookout for a week in Ardrossan or six months in Melbourne'.
'Don't be afraid to ask' was the message.
'Find out about flying to fantastic Florida – or going Down Under for that trip to see the folks you've been promising yourself all these years,' it said.
'Nearer home, too, you can find out about coach tours, special deals for rail travel to British resorts, and much, much more.'
An Evening Telegraph advertising supplement gave details of some of the most popular holiday destinations, from 'wonderful Copenhagen' to Bangkok and Yugoslavia.
It also published a checklist for travellers including suggesting bringing over-the-counter medicine in case you 'succumb to diarrhoea and vomiting while away'.
The 1989 event was 'bigger and better' and moved to the Caird Hall.
Instant holiday booking by computer was a feature of many of the 20 stands.
There were attractions for all the family including prize draws and competitions with prizes ranging from a bottle of Champagne to a £100 holiday voucher.
You could also win £150 from the Evening Telegraph to spend on a holiday by helping 'Eddie McReady' rediscover his 'mislaid travel arrangements'.
One of the 'added attractions' in 1989 was a café where you could 'relax with your holiday brochures and plan for the two weeks that lie ahead'.
Holidays to Spain and Yugoslavia were the most popular for Dundonians.

You could get 14 nights half-board for £179 per person in 1989.
More than 10,000 people attended.
Travel agents Lunn Poly in Reform Street and Thomas Cook in City Square enjoyed brisk business as a spin-off from the exhibition nearby.
Holiday 1990 at the Caird Hall would 'show you where to go for sand and sunshine'.
The Evening Telegraph special information stand was running a competition.
First prize was £150 holiday spending money.
Second prize was 'a whole Edam cheese' (described by the Tele as being 'about the size of a football') and a cheese slicer from the Dutch Dairy Bureau.
Everyone from Butlin's to North Sea Ferries were represented.
Another of the stall holders was Ramsay World Travel, which was offering packages for Scotland fans to the 1990 World Cup in Italy with tickets included.
Prices started at £259.
Anyone worried about diarrhoea from the tap water (see 1988) could visit the WPS Enterprises stand and buy a water filtration and purifying system.
Many of them were 'easily portable for personal holiday use'.

Over 15,000 attended the exhibition.
It was staged over two days at the Caird Hall and featured 24 stands selling everything 'from British camping holidays to long-stay breaks on the other side of the world'.
DJ Ally Bally and the Radio Tay Roadshow provided the soundtrack.
Staff at the Evening Telegraph stand wore yellow Holiday and Leisure 93 sweat shirts and were handing out entry forms for the World Air Routes competition.
You had to answer the clues on slips from each exhibitor in the hall.
First prize was £150 in travellers' cheques.
Booking a holiday with DP&L Travel gave customers the chance to qualify for a £5 insurance deal and win a year's free hairdressing appointments.
Exhibitors at the Caird Hall reported record bookings and inquiries.
Deals included one week in Egypt for £199 and a fortnight in Tenerife for £383.
Thousands shrugged off the January chill and attended in January 1994.
The exhibition was 'bigger and brighter than previous years' with 40 stallholders 'representing nearly all aspects of the holiday and leisure industry'.
There were badges and lollipops for children and photographs of favourite holiday destinations in Tayside and Fife from the DC Thomson archive were displayed.
Asda hosted a fashion show on both days of the event.
Players from Dundee and Dundee United FC were also in attendance.
The main prize in the Evening Telegraph competition was a 'mystery £4,000 holiday prize' that was provided by SuperClubs and Caribbean Connections.
The Canaries, Caribbean and Florida were proving especially popular in 1994.
There were deposits from just £1 being offered.

There were bus and B&B package deals from Dundee to see Shirley Bassey on her 40th anniversary tour and the West End musical Copacabana in London.

Over 16,000 attended.
Firms like Ramsay World Travel, AT Mays, Tayside Greyhound, Travelmood and Direct Holidays were 'very pleased with the public's response'.
The Courier said: 'The four fashion shows by ASDA, featuring the George range of clothing, drew big crowds, and the impromptu marching display by the cadets of the Angus & Dundee Battalion drew warm applause.
'In the Marryat Hall, the Asda café was busy both days, and the adjacent Cybercafe proved very popular with young and old alike, who took the opportunity to 'surf' the internet.'
This was the start for the growth of the online travel industry.
Consumers would soon be putting together their own holidays at the touch of a button and the Evening Telegraph holiday exhibition became a thing of the past.
But that was in the future.
Back in 1995 holidays and short breaks in the UK to Blackpool, Southport and Butlin's in Ayr were proving just as popular as foreign trips for Dundonians.
Spain and Greece were the top foreign destinations, although it's not known how many people packed a water filtration and purifying system alongside their sun cream.

There are a slew of hire car companies on the island, meaning prices can get competitively low. Still, it is worth booking in advance to secure a bargain, especially if you're travelling during the peak period. Make sure you go with a reputable vendor to afford being ripped off too. Experts over at Lonely Planet, who advise hiring a car through your accommodation provider, say having your own vehicle can give you 'full freedom' to explore the island - but warns there are certain 'drawbacks'. "The relatively short drives along the island's diminutive road network can be harrowing due to narrow lanes, cliffside plunges and incessant peak season traffic," they explained. "Parking is also stressful in Fira and at the beaches. Expect hefty fines if you decide to leave your car in an unapproved spot. A good strategy is to rent a car for just a day or two of exploration, thus saving yourself from the attendant hassles at other times." Parking in clearly-designated spaces - that may incur a small fee - is your best practice. You can always ask your hotel for recommended parking spots, or check Google reviews if you're unsure. According to reports, parking violations come with a fine of up to €80 (approximately £68.39), so it's never really worth the risk. "I have hired a car in Santorini and this evening got a parking ticket and my number plates taken away," one tourist wrote on Facebook back in 2023. "I know I have to pay a fine at [the] post office in Thera but how do I get the number plates back?" If anything like this happens to you whilst away, contact the company you rented your car from. It is still your responsibility to pay the fine, but staff may be able to help explain the process - and get your number plates back. Cycling is another popular way of navigating Santorini, which is a great way to avoid any steep fines. However, prepare for your thighs to burn as the island is filled with harsh inclines and twisty roads. "Add in drivers maniacally speeding to make up for time spent stalled in traffic and the challenges multiply," Lonely Planet added. "Still, you can easily rent a bike on the island from multiple sources. I explored the tiny European country with underground cities and little-known islands
REACHING for my umpteenth honey and date fritter, I joked that I would have to use the hotel gym after our incredible meal. But my host clutched her pearls and gasped: 'No, no. You have to forget about the gym in Malta, my love.' 4 4 Malta derives its name from the Greek word meaning 'place of honey' — fitting, for somewhere I was quickly realising might be Europe's most underrated culinary utopia. And with underground cities, little-known islands and mysterious temples, I would soon discover this wasn't the only surprise Malta had in store. As the sun set over Ta' Cicivetta farm, we were prepared a feast of traditional dishes, all using ingredients sourced from the garden we stood in. This tiny Mediterranean country is smaller than the Isle of Wight, which goes some way in explaining why its food goes under many people's radars; the limited land area means Maltese produce is barely exported, so you have to try it at source. In one dinner, we could taste the different cultures that have called Malta home over the centuries — Italian in the ricotta parcels and focaccia, Arabian in the date-based sweets and bigilla (a hummus-like dip made from beans), Spanish in the bread rubbed with tomato and drizzled in olive oil. Equally intriguing, however, was how easy it is to come across a full English on this faraway archipelago. The British stopped ruling Malta in 1964, but they left behind a love for this breakfast along with other cultural footprints such as UK plugs, driving on the left and speaking English (an official language here alongside Maltese). I got used to the unexpected sight of red telephone boxes on the streets of cities like Mdina, an ancient fortress which otherwise looked like something out of Game Of Thrones. Mdina's winding lanes and picturesque plazas were actually used as King's Landing in the HBO series, and our guide, Audrey, would occasionally hold up a scene on her phone to prove it. But Malta has seen real battles that make Starks vs Lannisters look like a tea party. We had already been given an introduction to Malta's fascinating past at Odyssey — an immersive history experience complete with special effects and rides — now, prepped with head-torches and hard hats, we explored this amazing subterranean network on a tour with Heritage Malta. Visitors walking Valletta's grand streets and enjoying €4 Aperol spritzes in its squares seemed to have no idea what lay beneath their feet — understandable, as the city's ground-level attractions are impressive enough. These include the 16th-century cathedral (home to one of Caravaggio's most famous paintings, The Beheading of St John the Baptist), the Upper Barrakka Gardens with sweeping views over the harbour, and the stunning Grandmaster's Palace, all within walking distance of each other. In fact, pretty much all distances on this island are extremely manageable, especially from where we stayed in St. Julian's. It's a great base for exploring Malta by car, and a stay at the Hyatt Regency there makes coming back after a day of activities almost as appealing as heading out. 4 4 The luxury hotel has pristine sea-view rooms with balconies, as well as a heated rooftop pool, spa facilities and a gym (for anyone who does wish to burn off those honey and date fritters). Its rooms are also triple-glazed so, despite St. Julian's being Malta's nightlife capital, we didn't have to worry about our five-star sleep being disturbed by revellers. Awe-inspiring A short drive from the hotel is the port of Cirkewwa, the jumping-off point for visiting Malta's sister islands, Gozo and Comino, and we were lucky enough to have Audrey — a proud Gozitan — showing us around her home isle. Gozo is an unassuming patch of land with a smaller population than Dover, yet it is home to the awe-inspiring Ggantija temples — megalithic structures that are older than the pyramids. Its vibrant capital, Victoria, is another must-visit, and on a clear day you can even see Sicily from the ramparts of the city. There is plenty to do beyond sightseeing. At Il-Wileg restaurant, you can try your hand at making the authentic Gozitan cheese, which is served all over Malta, under the watchful eye of a local chef — or you can take an idyllic tuk-tuk ride around the island. We rounded off our day trip with a memorable dinner at L-Istorja, set inside the lavish Kempinski Hotel. It serves the rich tapestry of Maltese cuisine with a gourmet twist but without the fine-dining cost — so you might as well order the gold-leaf-coated gnocchi and knock back a few Gozitan wines. Gozo has much of what makes Malta so special — stunning citadels, mind-blowing food, budget-friendly prices, and glittering turquoise sea — though it has noticeably fewer tourists, giving it a more relaxed, off-the-beaten-track feel. The ferry takes 25 minutes and costs less than €5, and you only pay on the return journey. Technically, if you chose to stay, the journey would be free — and you could certainly be forgiven for never wanting to leave.

Former Dancing On Ice presenter Stephen Mulhern has been dealt another career blow as he has now lost his lucrative deal with iconic British holiday firm Butlin's Stephen Mulhern has been dropped from his lucrative deal with Butlin's - capping off a round of bad luck for the star. The 48-year-old presenter had been the face of the family-friendly holiday resort chain in the UK - to the tune of a reported £1 million. But now the star's magic has run out and his contract reportedly won't be renewed. Stephen enjoyed early success in his career as a Redcooat at the iconic holiday chain. And he returned to the stage at centres in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness as part of his now defunct deal. A report has claimed the ITV star will no longer perform once the summer season is over - and that his contract won't be renewed. A spokesperson for the star confirmed that the collaboration between the brand and the TV star had indeed ended. However, they added that host had enjoyed his time working with the chain. The spokesperson told The Mirror: "Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlin's family - performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlin's remains hugely positive. "This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he's incredibly passionate about." A spokesperson for Butlin's said they had nothing to add when asked about the reports Stephen had been dropped as the face of the company. The Sun broke news of Stephen's loss of work, with a source saying: 'Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers. He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.' However, this is just the latest incident in a line of bad news for Stephen - both professionally and personally. The long-running ITV winter sport reality show Dancing On Ice was axed earlier this year - with the show being cancelled after ratings tanked after he came on board to co-host it alongside Holly Willoughby in 2024. Stephen replaced Phillip Schofield who saw his contract with ITV go up in flames in 2023 after he admitted having an office affair behind-the-scenes of This Morning with a much younger employee and then lying about it. Last year, Stephen's other TV show, In For A Penny, was cancelled after six seasons - but it was teased that the show could be revived in the future. A source previously told The Sun: "So don't put your pennies away just yet as the team could be popping up in your local town, to challenge even more members of the public to take part in their unique and madcap games in the future."
