Oasis 'drops popular song from setlist' after link to disgraced pop star
Oasis have reportedly dropped a popular song from their upcoming reunion tour setlist over its links to a disgraced pop star.
Brothers Noel Gallagher, 57, and Liam Gallagher, 52, are getting back together for a series of stadium gigs across the UK and Ireland this summer, before heading off for a string of international shows.
Having not performed together in nearly 15 years, it has now been revealed that the duo have reportedly axed their single Hello from their set list due to its association with disgraced pop star Gary Glitter.
The opening track from their iconic 1995 album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is reportedly being cut from the setlist because it includes lyrics from Gary's 1973 hit Hello, I'm Back Again with the melody of his original song playing subtly underneath.
A source told The Sun: 'The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past.
'It would be inappropriate to play it given its connotations to Glitter and his convictions.'
Glitter was put behind bars in 2015 for 16 years after sexually abusing three schoolgirls.
His sentence will end in February 2031.
Glitter was automatically released from HMP The Verne, a low-security prison in Portland, Dorset, in February 2023.
He had served half of his fixed-term determinate sentence but was imprisoned less than six weeks after walking free.
This was after police monitoring showed he had breached his licence conditions by reportedly trying to access the dark web and viewing downloaded images of children.
Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was at the height of his fame when he preyed on his vulnerable victims.
Oasis broke up back in 2009, with Noel abruptly quitting just before they were scheduled to perform at a Paris festival.
After shooting to fame in 1994, Oasis were responsible for some of the UK music scene's most definitive tunes, from Wonderwall to Stop Crying Your Heart Out.
Despite their reunion announcement taking the world by storm, rumours have emerged that the pair are still keeping their distance behind the scenes.
According to one insider, the brothers are holding separate concert after-parties in their own private green rooms, far away from each other.
The Sun reported: 'You might be seeing Oasis on stage but you will not be seeing Liam and Noel together afterwards.
'Each of them had a VIP list where their friends and famous fans could buy their tickets.
'But depending on which brother you got your ticket off, it's their green room and after-party you're invited to.' More Trending
The publication's source continued: 'So if you're on Noel's list but fancy going across to say hello to Liam, it's going to be a case of trying to blag entry. It seems like they are totally separate events.
'It's gutting for people who want to hang out with both of them, but it seems they're keeping it all at a distance.'
Metro have contacted representatives for Oasis for comment.

Meghan Markle is ‘social mountaineering' herself to the top & the ‘lack of authenticity is palpable', says royal expert
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MEGHAN Markle has come a long way since being a Deal or No Deal briefcase girl - and has since starred in Suits and bagged a prince. However, royal experts have claimed that the Duchess of Sussex is 'social mountaineering' herself to the top but has a lack of 'authenticity.' The two women sat down for a chat, covering family life for Meghan and Prince Harry as well as her ventures after leaving the royal family. Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, news commentator Samara Gill said: 'It was like the lack of authenticity in that interview was really palpable. 'Emma Greed, who was the interviewer, she's such a self-made East Londoner who actually really fought for what she has. 'She's really the brains behind a lot of big brands, the Kardashians etc, which is a little bit tawdry, but you know she really is someone who worked her way to be there. 'Meghan on the other hand really socially mountaineered her way to the top. 'So it's very difficult to take this authentic side that Emma was giving and this complete lack of authenticity that Meghan was showing in the interview, it was very hard to watch.' Royal author and broadcaster Hugo Vickers agreed, saying: 'The thing is, would nobody ever listen to Meghan Markle if it wasn't the fact she'd married Prince Harry? 'I mean the social mountaineering - because she's married to Prince Harry - it gives it a soap opera quality which seems to appeal to everybody otherwise no one would care about. 'I mean a lot of other people doing the sort of things that she does - I mean sprinkling petals over salads and stuff.' Meghan speaks out on 'baby mama dance' after vid sparked wild conspiracies Starting out in the world of acting, aged 25 Meghan landed a role as one of the briefcase girls on gameshow Deal or No Deal. The show first aired in 2005, but Meghan joined the following year for season two after successfully passing an audition. Filming up to four episodes a day, sometimes the girls took home more than $23,000 (£17,526) a week, and the intense schedules followed by weeks off allowed her time for auditions. 8 The Sun's royal editor Matt Wilkinson talking to Hugo Vickers and Samara Gill on our royal exclusive show Credit: The Sun 8 Meghan landed her role in Suits in 2011 Credit: Getty 8 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ditched royal duties for life in California in 2020 Credit: Getty Meghan then played Rachel Zane for seven seasons of Suits after she made her debut back in 2011. All the reasons Blackweir Live is a great thing for Cardiff
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info One of the things Cardiff is known for is being a great place to enjoy a concert. Cardiff locals are used to being treated to some of the very best music performances hosting the likes of Oasis, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder, Harry Styles and many many others over just a couple of years. This year that is no different, with Lana Del Rey, Stereophonics, Snow Patrol, Noah Kahan, Oasis, Stevie Wonder and Catfish and the Bottlemen, and many others, performing at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Castle, Blackweir Live and Live at Bute Park. Despite Bute Park being a familiar host of events like the food festival, Christmas light trail and Tafwyl, this will be the first year of Blackweir Live, a new outdoor music venue in the heart of the city centre. Yes, we looked at some of the negatives and the complaint people have had and you can read that here. Today, we are looking at the positives. Noah Kahan, Alanis Morisette, Slayer and Stevie Wonder will all grace the brand new stage, with Kings of Leon having to cancel their show after their frontman Caleb Followill sustained a "serious injury". Many locals have opposed Blackweir Live citing the fact it makes the park inaccessible to locals, has a negative impact on the environment and leaves other venues in the city empty. However, there are many positives too. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here . We looked at all the reasons why it's great for Cardiff. Lots to do in the city The vast number of performers coming to Cardiff this summer gives loads of people in Wales the opportunity to see some of their favourite musicians perform locally, meaning they don't need to splurge on hotels or expensive travel. With the cost of concerts continuing to rise astronomically, cutting these sorts of costs is more important than ever. Hosting such a variety of major events gives the city a real buzz which cannot be replicated on a normal day and I think anyone who's has been to a concert in Cardiff can vouch that it's a great city to enjoy a concert in. It puts Cardiff on the map Cardiff has long had a reputation for being a great place for live music and the more gigs the city hosts can only help to maintain its place on the global music scene. Ensuring this can only help make sure the biggest artists continue to visit the capital and keep giving people in Wales access to the very best concerts. Data from DEPOT Live, the organisers of Blackweir Live and DEPOT at the castle, shows that only 37% of tickets sold for Blackweir Live were to people with a CF postcode demonstrating the vast appeal of the events held in the capital. Concerts help bring a global audience to Wales and putting on a good show will attract more visitors to the city. Financial benefits Cardiff Council has argued that funds from the events at Blackweir Live will help protect grassroots music venues and the city's parks. The boost of visitors to the city will not only go towards supporting grassroots venues but also help support local businesses like restaurants, pubs and hotels by bringing more people into the city. Councillor Huw Thomas, leader of Cardiff Council, has previously said that figures show music tourists visiting Wales last year spent £276m, a hugely substantial boost to the local economy. Data from FOR Cardiff shows that this summer there's an expected attendance of over 900,000 in Cardiff over the course of 30 major headline gigs. Carolyn Brownell of FOR Cardiff said: "These concerts are not just cultural milestones – they're economic engines. They benefit everyone from hotels and restaurants to taxi drivers, retail operators and late-night venues. "With a significant proportion of tickets being sold to out-of-town visitors, the impact ripples far beyond the venues themselves."

Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher take to the stage together for the first time since announcing their reunion tour as they recreate their 90s heyday in new Adidas campaign
Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have returned to the stage together for the first time since their reunion tour was announced last year. But rather than being the result of hours of rehearsals ahead of their first show on July 4, the brothers have recreated the look that helped solidify the Britpop movement, with a new campaign for sporting brand Adidas. A brand new image, posted on Adidas' social media on Thursday, showed the duo dressed in specially designed pieces boasting their band's name, and was captioned: 'The band with three stripes.' And in a three-minute advert that was broadcast on Channel 4, the 1994 Oasis anthem Live Forever can be heard, and there are scenes reminiscent of the band's early gigs, with fans dressed in new Adidas pieces boasting the band's famous logo. A tamborine can be heard hitting ice, and Liam's voice says: 'There are days when you are in the zone, you know what I mean? 'You just stand perfectly still while there's all this chaos going on around you. Not feeling the need to join in the madness, just thinking, this is the best feeling in the world. Just absolutely still.' Viewers then see Liam and Noel heading to the stage to play a gig, and the final shot of the ad features the pair reunited and posing together. Taking inspiration from the styles that Oasis immortalised in the 90's - the adidas Originals x Oasis Live '25 collection features a co-branded 26-piece range of timeless adidas staples in various colours. The collection includes Firebird tracksuits (a favourite of Noel's), raglan sleeve jerseys (iconically worn by Liam in a 90's charity football match), bucket hats and coach jackets (a style featured on Liam in the ad). Adidas' VP Brand Chris Walsh said: 'Adidas and Oasis share a story defined by originality and cultural impact, with roots that run deep and have long been entwined in the fabric of music and style. 'This official partnership represents more than just two icons coming together; it reignites a timeless piece of cultural music history. ''Original Forever'' continues to build on adidas' lasting legacy in music and celebrates the powerful role music and style play in shaping culture across generations.' Prior to this campaign, the only images of Liam and Noel had been in a promotional shoot to announce the Oasis tour, sending die-hard fans of the pair into meltdown. This may be no surprise to some, as insiders previously told the Mail that while Liam, 52, and Noel, 57, publicly buried the hatchet on their 15-year feud last year, they are still spending no time in each other's company. It was previously reported in April that Liam and Noel landed a 'multi-million-pound deal' with Adidas, having both previously released collections with the brand. The Oasis Live 25 tour kicks off on 4 July at Cardiff's Principality Stadium before playing sell-out gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park, Wembley Stadium in London, and Edinburgh's Murrayfield stadium. The pair will then embark on a global tour taking in shows in Japan, Argentina, the United States and Brazil. Oasis fans had feared they would never see the two brothers in the same room again, after they spectacularly fell out following a backstage fight in Paris in 2009. Noel said at the time: 'I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.' However, last August, Liam and Noel reconciled and announced Oasis were reforming for a string of stadium dates in 2025 which will net the brothers an estimated £100m payday. It will be a much needed boost to Noel's bank balance, after his expensive £20m divorce settlement to ex-wife Sara MacDonald in 2023. In a statement announcing the tour, Oasis said: 'The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.' But when tickets went on sale the tour was slammed for using 'dynamic pricing' when tickets went on sale for hundreds of pounds last August. Fans were furious after waiting up to 15 hours to get to the front of online queues. Ticketmaster's pricing method was described as 'scandalous' after tickets for the original dates shot up from £148 to £355. Last month, it was reported that the pair had met for conciliatory talks about the tour, but these were vehemently denied by Liam who denounced it on social media as 'fake news'. There have also been concerns over the behaviour of Oasis fans at the upcoming shows, with followers of the band reportedly branded 'fat, drunk and rowdy, by council bosses in a secret safety briefing. Sources claim Edinburgh council officials said fans at the Murrayfield August gigs will be 'mainly middle-aged men who take up more room'. According to The Sun, leaked papers have revealed the councils' fears that acts will pull out of Edinburgh Festival Fringe due to possible clashes with 'rowdy' punters heading to Oasis show nearby. The secret planning briefings reportedly warn: 'Concerned about the safety of the Fringe and its performers. Many performers are considering not attending for that weekend. 'There is concern about crowds as they are already rowdy and the tone of the band. Middle-aged men take up more room. Consider this when working out occupancy.' As per the publication, one die-hard Oasis fan blasted the 'sneering' comments. David Walker, 44, of the Oasis Collectors Group reportedly said: 'To call fans drunk, middle-aged, and fat is a nasty, sneering stereotype — it's a jaundiced view. 'People want to have a great time. If reports of councillors' drunken parties are anything to go by, they'd be better keeping their opinions to themselves. 'The fanbase has changed a lot - there's a new generation of young fans for a start, and parents are wanting to introduce their kids to Oasis for the first time.'
