Joe Biden Surprises ‘Reacher' Star Alan Ritchson on Set, Actor Says Meet-Up Was ‘A Privilege and Honor'
Former President Joe Biden and his son Hunter paid a surprise visit Monday morning to the 'Reacher' Season 4 set in Philadelphia.
Jack Reacher himself, actor Alan Ritchson, posted Tuesday on Instagram about the Bidens' visit, calling it a 'a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family.' Accompanying videos and photos of him with the Biden men, the 'Reacher' star wrote, 'So our 'Reacher' set got in the way of these legends.' He went on to have nothing but good things to say about the former U.S. president and his son.
'They couldn't have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present,' Ritchson captioned his Instagram post. 'We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement. Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day's work.'
According to an eyewitness who spoke to CBS Philadelphia Monday, Biden just so happened to be in the same area in Philadelphia at the same time as the 'Reacher' cast and crew. The eyewitness said that the 'Reacher' team was filming a police chase when several black SUVs suddenly pulled up. 'Out walked these men, that I thought they were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering,' the eyewitness said of Biden's 'Reacher' set entrance.
Former President Biden's surprising, real-life 'Reacher' crossover moment came less than a month after it was announced that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. In late May, CNN anchor Jake Tapper also published 'Original Sin,' his book detailing the behind-the-scenes efforts that were made to cover up Biden's cognitive decline while he was still in office.
Ritchson's comments, meanwhile, do not mark the first time the 'Reacher' star has dipped his toes into political waters. In February, Ritchson also blasted Matt Gaetz, the former Florida congressman who has been accused of child sex trafficking and statutory rape and who withdrew his nomination to serve as U.S. attorney general during Donald Trump's second presidential term.
Gaetz was once a classmate of Ritchson's, and the actor called him a 'motherf—ker' and told GQ of his former schoolmate, 'We are adversaries.'
Amazon's Prime Video has not yet announced a premiere date for 'Reacher' Season 4. The series' third season concluded its eight-episode run in late March.

Andrew Cuomo resigned as New York Governor under threat of impeachment, amid accusations that the state covered up Covid deaths in nursing homes and that he'd serially sexually harassed women, including a female state trooper on his security detail. 'Killing grannies and pinching fannies,' as one New York Post writer put it. So why are many Democrats now rallying around Mr. Cuomo to be New York City's next mayor? Ron DeSantis considered donations to the Mamdani campaign? Plenty of ex-New Yorkers already are soaking up the sun there, where the income tax is 0%. Rather than hire more police, Mr. Mamdani says he'd create a Department of Community Safety to 'prevent violence before it happens.' What about after it happens? It's hard to know how far Mr. Mamdani would really go. He has been a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, whose platform calls to 'disarm law enforcement,' and 'abolish the carceral forces of the state.' Another thing: He accused Israel of apartheid and recently refused to condemn the slogan 'globalize the intifada.'

A Welcome Expansion at the EPA
Kudos to President Trump and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin. The EPA announced last month that it will reassign more than 130 agency scientists to clear the backlog of new chemicals and pesticides that need review before they can be sold. It's a giant step to protect the environment and human health—and there's more to do. Even as the White House pushes to reduce the size of government, some agencies need additional workers to get vital jobs done. That's certainly true at the EPA, which does more than try to keep air and water clean. It also evaluates chemicals in commercial and household products that prevent contamination in kitchens, infections in hospitals, public-health threats in pests and invasive species in nature.

Dana White reveals Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall was ‘done' but Jones suddenly ‘changed his mind' and retired
Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall was a done deal with the fight being targeted for the UFC's return to Madison Square Garden in New York but then the reigning heavyweight champion changed his mind and decided to retire from the sport instead. That's according to UFC CEO Dana White, who offered new details on Jones' decision to retire on Sunday after he first broke the news during the UFC Baku post-fight press conference on Saturday. White revealed the fight was effectively booked but then Jones made a call to the UFC a couple of days ago to inform the promotion that he was hanging up his gloves for good. 'He called us and just started saying 'you know what, I think I'm done, I want to retire. It's been a great run, I appreciate everything' and that was it,' White told MMA Fighting during a media scrum at Fanatics Fest. 'He was absolutely, positively sure that he wanted to retire and we said why don't you sleep on it, if you wake up in the morning if that's how you still feel. 'You never know what Jon Jones is dealing with and then you wake up the next day [and there's new criminal charges]. Who knows. I don't know everything that went into this decision. It's something you guys are going to have to ask him if you ever see him again … all I know is he made it very clear that he wanted to retire and I don't disagree with him.' Jones was hit with new criminal charges on June 17 for leaving the scene of an accident in New Mexico with his next court appearance scheduled for Tuesday. He only faces a misdemeanor charge for the allegations against him but White had no idea any of that was happening until he returned home from Azerbaijan so he can't say for certain if that played in part in Jones decision to retire. 'I saw it today,' White said about Jones' latest legal issues. 'When I saw it today I said everybody's going to think this is why he retired. Maybe that is why he retired. Who the hell knows. I don't know. These are all questions you've got to ask him. 'We had the fight done. You saw me talking about it very confidently that this fight was going to happen and he changed his mind.' White made guarantees for several months that Jones vs. Aspinall was going to happen and now it appears that his confidence centered around already having agreements in places from both fighters. He added that Jones was going to be paid 'what he deserves' for a fight of that magnitude. While nothing was signed, White expected Jones vs. Aspinall to headline the UFC's annual trip to New York City but then he got the news that arguably the greatest fighter of all-time was retiring. Despite the circumstances and how it all played out, White was adamant that he still doesn't believe Jones was ducking Aspinall and retired rather than fight him. 'The fight was done,' White said. 'We had the fight done a long time ago. Why he decided not to fight, you guys will have to ask him that. 'No, Jon Jones — I've said it a million times and I'll say it again — he's never ducked anybody. Other than that one goofy time with the Chael Sonnen thing, he's never ducked anybody. I think the reality is whatever changed his mind with this fight, I don't know you'd have to ask him that but he's 38 years old and I don't know.' Jones' decision to retire may have been surprising at the time but White keeps the same attitude towards every fighter when that conversation starts. 'We had the fight done,' White reiterated. 'Our job is to make the biggest fights we can make and the fights that the fans want to see and that's what we try to do. But the minute somebody starts talking about retirement, you know my philosophy on that, you should do it.'
