Punter turns £20 into £22,000 with 'prophetic' year-long William Hill acca

The Sun19-05-2025

SOMETIMES it pays to wait.
One shrewd William Hill punter has pulled off the ultimate acca, turning a modest £20 stake into a staggering £22,082 - nearly a full year after placing the bet!
Described as "prophetic" by traders at William Hill HQ, the bettor landed an audacious 10-fold accumulator across horse racing, darts, and football, at odds of 1,104/1.
The winning slip
William Hill
Noisy Music @ 13/8 (Win – 5:10 – Windsor)
Germany @ 1/4 (90 Minutes - Germany vs Scotland - Euro 2024)
Arsenal @ 1/6 (Top 4 Finish - English Premier League - Top 4 Finish 2024/25 - English Premier League)
Burnley @ 2/1 (Promotion - English Championship - Promotion 2024/25 - English Championship)
Birmingham @ 10/11 (Promotion - English League 1 - Promotion 2024/25 - English League 1)
Chesterfield @ 4/5 (Top 7 Finish - English League 2 - Top 7 Finish 2024/25 - English League 2)
Bowman @ 8/13 (Place Only - 3 Places - 4:45 Ayr)
Apeeling @ 11/4 (Place Only - 2 Places - 6:15 Windsor)
Luke Littler @ 3/1 (Outright - PDC World Darts Championship 2025 - Tournament Winner - PDC World Darts Championship)
England @ 3/20 (90 Minutes - England vs Bosnia - International Friendlies)
The epic wager was placed in June 2024, and the winning run began on the 3rd of that month.
The early selections featured Bowman (8/13) placing at Ayr, Noisy Music (13/8) winning at Windsor, and Apeeling (11/4) placing in another race on the same card.
Later that evening, England (3/10) saw off Bosnia in a friendly, and over a week later, Germany (1/4) beat Scotland in the Euro 2024 opener—bringing up five winning legs before… well, before the bet went into hibernation.
Fast forward to January 2025, and Luke Littler (3/1) claimed victory at the PDC World Darts Championship.
Another few months passed and the seasons changed for the remaining legs of the acca to land.
Burnley (2/1) and Birmingham (10/11) clinched promotion, Chesterfield (4/5) squeezed into League Two's top seven, and Arsenal (1/6) confirmed a top-four Premier League finish - completing the remarkable sequence.
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: "We see a lot of big winning bets, but it's rare to see anything quite like this!
"Both the duration of the bet and range of sports included makes this £20 10-fold an extraordinary wager and we have to tip our hat to this punter after they landed a cool £22k.
"There must have been times of concern, with Apeeling all out to repel two challengers at Windsor and Chesterfield needing to win on the final day of the League 2 season to secure seventh place, but the last few week's must have been more relaxed, with Arsenal's place in the top four all but secured."

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo signs new three-year deal

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has signed a new three-year contract to remain at the City Ground until at least 2028. The 51-year-old guided Forest to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, securing European qualification for the first time since the 1995-96 season. For much of the campaign, it looked as though Forest were going to qualify for the Champions League, but they lost five of their last eight games. However, that has not prevented owner Evangelos Marinakis from rewarding Nuno following the club's highest league finish for 30 years, while they also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup before losing to Manchester City. Nuno said: 'I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club. 'Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the Club, which helped us achieve great things last season. 'I would like to thank our owner, Mr Marinakis, for his constant support and backing. It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest. 'Now is the time to work harder than ever as we strive for more special memories together.' The former Wolves and Tottenham boss arrived at the City Ground in December 2023 following the sacking of Steve Cooper, and helped the club avoid relegation on the final day of the season. Marinakis said: 'Nuno has made a great impact and performed very well during his time with us so far. 'He has demonstrated that he maximises player performance and is an expert at developing players, whilst also embedding our young talent into the first team set-up. 'We enjoy a strong and solid relationship together and, above all, we share the same dream and ambition of writing a new history for Nottingham Forest, competing in the Premier League and in Europe and winning trophies for our great club.'

Galal Yafai reveals beatdowns he took from his older champion brothers knocked him into the fighter he is today

GALAL YAFAI reveals the beatdowns he took from his champion older brothers knocked him into the fighter he is today. Yafai grew up as the youngest boxer in the household and admits it was constant civil war at home older siblings Gamal and Kal. 4 4 4 He told SunSport: "My mum would come in screaming and shouting, we'd always end up fighting but I knew my place when you're like ten years old or nine years old. "Two-three years is a big difference. When they were 13-14 years old and I'm only just 10, it's a big jump. So yeah, I knew my position. I used to get beaten up on a little bit!" Despite taking his fair share of brotherly blows, Yafai admits the real wars came between Kal and Gamal. He said: "They were closer in age and I think they felt sorry for me a little bit because I was a little bit smaller than them. "They had the real big fights and my mum used to come out shouting and it was kind of like hillbilly style. It kind of helped us to get where we got to. "Kal was always better than me, Gamal was always bigger and better so I don't think I ever got the better of everyone really. "I could hold my own, well I could hold my own when I got a bit older, but I think they took it easy on me. "But they always helped me anyway, it helped in my career." Yafai trained as a teenager and watched his older brothers become amateur champions - later replicating that success in the professional ranks. The youngest of the pack only began boxing again at 18 but by 2021 he was on the Olympic champion after packing in his job working in a Land Rover factory. Boxing icon Tyson Fury spotted posing topless in Scots town as he chats with locals Now he is undefeated and 9-0 as a pro - meanwhile ex-world champ Kal, 36, is retired and Gamal, 33, now coaches the younger generation. But Yafai - who returns on Saturday against Francisco Rodriguez Jr in a bid to earn a shot at WBC and WBO champ Kenshiro Teraji - doubts brother Gamal will be part of his corner team - preferring he remains just a fan for now. He said: "My coach Rob McCracken sorts all that out and I just like my brothers being there. They help me just being there and showing me support and having my back. "My brother Kal's been in my corner before as like a second in America. But as long as Rob's in my corner and my brothers are there supporting me, yeah, I'm happy." 4
