Meghan Markle's viral twerking video a 'distasteful surprise', given her desires for respect and privacy
Meghan Markle gave us a fascinating example of her acting abilities a couple of weeks ago when she hosted the bonus episode of her 'Confessions of a Female Founder'.
Her guest was Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles, a businesswoman who appeared to give Meghan a subtle telling off during the podcast.
The Duchess of Sussex talked about how she paused the distribution of her As Ever products after they sold out within 45 minutes of its launch last April.
'But what do you do then?' Knowles appeared to bluntly ask, before she went on later describing the importance of being consistent in selling products.
Meghan replied as if she was an overworked victim saying she decided to 'pause' in order to restock her As Ever brand.
The difficulties have caused her 'tears' behind the scenes because she has so many different things to do at the same time and also be a mother, wife and a businesswoman.
She told Tina her concern: 'I don't want you to eat that jam once every six months. I want it to be on your shelf all the time.'
Tina also told Meghan during the podcast that family should always be a priority.
There seemed no doubt Meghan wanted all of us to feel sorry for her.
But surprise, surprise almost straight away a very bright Meghan was back on Instagram showing viewers bowls of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, and telling them excitedly that her As Ever products, including raspberry spread, would be returning.
She added that she 'can't wait' to show off her new additions later this month.
Meghan is also going to launch a series of new products which include rosé wine, and she'll be helping travellers find accommodation.
Even her lifestyle brand's website was upbeat: 'As Ever is more than a brand - it's a love language. Created by Meghan'.
What on earth is she playing at?
Perhaps Meghan doesn't want to sit down with colleagues for six months and work things out carefully to get her brand into gear - as she appears to be at her happiest when she is being seen.
She also seemed to have been prompted by Lilibet's fourth birthday to face the spotlight in a very different way by posting a video of herself when she was in the delivery room about to give birth to her daughter.
It's hard to know why she wanted to wait so long.
She showed us how to twerk and how she could get a nine-month-old bump to bounce up and down.
We saw her bending down very low with her dress pushed up.
I've had three babies and I couldn't have done anything like that just before birth.
Harry, incidentally, did a bit of dancing but mainly kept out of the way.
The Duchess joked about the viral video saying "you have to be authentic".
"It's also a really great reminder that, with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life. A real, authentic, fun life that's happening behind the scenes.'
But for someone who has yearned for privacy showing herself off as she did was a distasteful surprise.
After all she and Harry want the respect and the UK security protection given to working royals.
Someone on her behalf has said she couldn't care less about the 'prudish' reaction of Britons to the video.
'Particularly in America and especially with young people, it (the video) has been a huge hit,' the source told the Daily Mail.
But some royal aides have told me they found the vision disgusting.
It shows that Meghan's image has become more chaotic.
This time she didn't hide away when she was criticised.
Instead she, Harry and the children went to Disneyland, California for their daughter's birthday – with the little ones' faces covered with heart symbols in a photo posted on Instagram.
Certain standards are expected of royalty in what they do and say.
But Meghan has always wanted to get the better of the Royal Family and she's done that with her cringeworthy behaviour.

'I've tried everything,' the singer, 37, said on Trisha Paytas' Just Trish podcast on Thursday, per Page Six. The Grammy winner explained however that she abandoned the semaglutide, which has not been approved for use for weight loss in Australia, early into her journey. 'Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full,' she said. 'But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same thing.' Ozempic is also associated with a number of side-effects including most commonly gastrointestinal disorders like nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting, in a way that doctor-approved changes to diet and exercise are not. They sound more like wankerful friends (# hawhaw # cleverwordplay # notreally # sorry). You're right to baulk at their boasty posting: it's obnoxious and validation-seeking and just makes you feel like crap because most of us have never travelled business or first class, let alone been in a first-class lounge.
