Shameless fans buzzing as East Lancashire star make hilarious TikTok debut
Shameless fans are celebrating after one of the show's most iconic stars, Alice Barry, made her hilarious debut on TikTok.
The Burnley actress is known for playing Lillian Tyler, a fan-favourite character who owned a brothel on Shameless' Chatsworth estate.
Alice's first video has, at the time of writing, amassed more than 500,000 views. In it, she gets into the character of Lillian as she gets 'set up on TikTok'.
In the video the former St Mary Magdalene's RC Primary School pupil said: 'TikTok!? We aren't going to get any money out of TikTok. I thought it was OnlyFans.'
As well as skits, she has also answered questions left by fans.
One TikTok user asked her how she landed the Shameless job.
Alice, who still lives in Burnley, said: 'When I went for the audition, it was for a nun. We did the audition and it went well.
'Paul Abbott [creator of Shameless] said 'you were very good but you haven't got the part... but I would like you to come in on Shameless as Lillian, I think you'd be alright'.'

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Alice said she was surprised that her TikTok account amassed more than 41,000 followers.
She said: 'I had been asked to join TikTok for a long while now and I said no – eventually I gave in and said I would give it a go.
'I didn't realise that I now have more than 41,000 followers I did not expect to get that many followers.
'All of the comments have been so nice, telling me I haven't changed one bit [since starring in Shameless]. Another said I am the Queen of TikTok and Queen of Shameless.
'I can easily get back into the character of Lillian at any moment.'
Alice, a former Coal Clough Secondary School pupil, said it's great that so many people still love the Channel 4 show despite ending in 2013, adding that it may have garnered a younger fanbase since being added to Netflix.
Alice, who grew up in Haslam Street in Gannow Top, has promised fans more Shameless content and skits in the future.
She said: 'It is still on and people are still watching it on Netflix. It's great that the show still has such a strong fan base.
'Wherever I go people still recognise me. If I go for a night out, people still want photographs, which I don't mind.
'I was on Shameless for all of those years, and it was a really good experience.'
As well as TikTok, Alice has also launched a Cameo page, where fans can request personalised video messages.
Alice, who is in her 70s, said she also has meet and greets planned, including one on June 28 at The Heartbeat Vehicle Rally in Goathland.
She said: 'I already have four gigs on Cameo [and I think that is because of] TikTok – they keep coming in.'

Photo courtesy of Netflix NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) -- Animal Kingdom and Walking Dead: Dead City actor Jake Weary says he wanted to star in The Waterfront because the new Netflix drama gives him the chance to play a type of character he doesn't usually get offered. "It was a character that I've never really explored before, someone who is really outwardly charismatic and charming and trying to use his charms to get certain things and manipulate people," Weary, 35, told UPI in a phone interview Thursday. "I'd always played more introverted characters and characters that are harboring secrets and there's just a lot of darkness," he said. "There are elements there with Cane, but I think, for the most part, he's someone that actually smiles. I usually play characters that just scowl all the time, so I thought it was kind of a nice game changer for me." Now streaming on Netflix, the show was written-produced by Dawson's Creek and Scream creator Kevin Williamson. It follows the Buckleys, a wealthy North Carolina family as they try to save their fishing empire by smuggling drugs. Weary plays Cane Buckley, while Holt McCallany plays his father Harlan, Maria Bello plays his mother Belle and Melissa Benoist plays his older sister Bree. "I always thought Cane is kind of the glue that kept the family together," the actor said. "I feel like he's the one that creates the big Buckley family group chat, just to check in with everybody," he added. "When he notices that the family is in dire straits, he really jumps at the opportunity to take the bull by the horns and fix things." Weary and his co-stars quickly bonded when they arrived on the show's set in North Carolina. The actor described himself and Bello as "besties" and said they frequently text since she has been working out of the country and haven't been able to see each other for awhile. "And me and Holt have this really, really strong relationship, too, because I think there are a lot of parallels in our lives," he added. "We both had mothers who were big-time divas. His mother was a ballroom singer and my mom was a soap opera actress," Weary said, referring to McCallany's mother, entertainer Julie Wilson, and his own, Guiding Light icon Kim Zimmer. "We both grew up on the East Coast and have similar interests and can, literally, talk for hours. Having the two of them together [Bello and McCallany] together was just a dream come true." Further connecting the cast and crew was the fact that Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina while they were there. "There's a lot of people on the crew whose homes were affected by the hurricane," Weary recalled. "You could see how it brought the crew together. Safe to say the team-building aspect of having minicamp in Maui was a success Sean McVay mentioned this week in Maui that the Los Angeles Rams have the makings of a 'really special group' with the work ethic and camaraderie they've shown this offseason. This video of players singing karaoke at a bar perfectly encapsulates what the head coach is talking about. After wrapping up minicamp, several players stayed in Hawaii a bit longer to take in the culture on the beautiful island of Maui. A video was shared on TikTok of the Rams singing 'Unwritten' by Natasha Bedingfield at a local bar and they were having the time of their lives. Braden Fiske, Jordan Whittington and Larrell Murchison were among those in the video, all belting out the words to the hit song. NFL on FOX shared the video on Instagram, as well. McVay said he didn't know how much actual work the Rams would get done in Maui, indicating it was more about experiencing the culture and community as a team, and he was probably right. The team-building aspect of the trip certainly seems to have been a success.

Refusing to give up just yet, he continues the search, and after finding a bunch of waste, he finally gets another beep. "I see a tiny bit a gold and at this point my heart is racing; I wonder if it's real gold," LeSueur can be heard saying in the clip, as he showcases his finding, a 22-carat gold ring with a red stone on top, which he still hasn't been able to identify. With any luck, I'll hopefully be able to return the lost items to their owner or sell to a jeweler to help cover the costs of boat maintenance." The pair eat a lot of what they catch along the way, spearfishing and lots of coconuts. LeSueur also always makes sure to have appropriate safety equipment and protocol on board, to keep himself and his companion safe. He checks he is always carrying an emergency position-indicating radiobeacon (EPIRB), and that he always lets someone know where he is and where he is headed. "My dream is to continue the adventure, live off the ocean, and hunt for artifacts and treasure around the world. Since sharing my content, people call me 'The Good Pirate.' Sailing has been in my blood ever since I was a kid. My dad was a sailor and his dad was also a sailor. As a child, we spent a lot of time on the water," LeSueur added. Among his findings, there has been "mostly junk," but also some occasional rings made of platinum, silver, or gold. LeSueur said: "We've also found lots of coins, which I use to do my laundry. "Every day is an adventure, even from a sail tearing in 35 knots of wind to a glass-out sunset with fish under the boat. Each day is an adventure," he added. The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received almost 60,000 views and more than 6,000 likes on the platform. One user, James, commented: "I'm stuck doing my dead job while you're doing this …" Mike said: "Do you run any calculations on your lucky finds? I curious how much money does a pirate do from selling the gold." Betty added: "What an incredible find! Must have been an amazing feeling to uncover such a treasure."
