Car enthusiasts in Paris, Texas are mourning after the Paris Dragstrip announced it's closing for now. With tracks getting shut down and bulldozed far too often these days, we hate seeing these stories. But the owners of the dragstrip say there are multiple good reasons for the sad decision. The Paris Dragstrip has been around for over 50 years, hosting NHRA sanctioned races on the 1/8 mile strip in Northwest Texas. It's been an outlet for many who have octane in their veins, helping them get their need for speed firsthand or vicariously.
But that's gone in a flash and seemingly without warning. The owners of the facility took to the official Facebook page on June 17 to make the shocking announcement:
'After a lot of thought and consideration, we have made the tough decision to close Paris Dragstrip until further notice.
'With the rising cost of operations, a constant shortage of staff, ongoing criticism, and the continued struggle to break even financially — it's simply not feasible to keep the gates open at this time.
'This track has been a huge part of our family, and I know it means a lot to so many of you. I want to personally thank every racer, fan, family, and crew member who has supported us over the years. Your loyalty and love for the sport never went unnoticed.
'This isn't goodbye forever — just a much-needed pause. We will be taking this time to regroup and consider what's next. I appreciate your understanding and support more than you know.'
While it's shocking, even infuriating to see another track close down, it sounds like this move might not be permanent.
Exactly what 'criticism' the Paris Dragstrip has endured isn't entirely clear. But looking around on Google Maps, the facility seems to be around some homes. We don't know if those houses were built before or after the strip was established, but we do know some people buy homes near racetracks, then complain about the noise.
Hopefully the Paris Dragstrip comes back better than ever. Too many tracks have shut down in recent years and we hate to see another go away forever.

Nissan Motor Acceptance Company Submits Application to Form Nissan Bank U.S., LLC

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nissan Motor Acceptance Company (NMAC), the financial services arm of Nissan North America, has submitted an application to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Utah Department of Financial Institutions to form Nissan Bank U.S., LLC, an industrial bank headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. The proposed Bank will focus on commercial financing for dealerships—enhancing the services currently provided by NMAC while enabling greater efficiency, competitive rates, and a deeper ability to serve Nissan, INFINITI, and non-Nissan dealerships across the United States. In addition to operational efficiencies, the Bank is intended to strengthen support for independent, locally owned dealerships—many of which serve as vital small businesses in communities across the country. 'For over 40 years, NMAC has supported our dealer network with stable, relationship-driven financing,' said Kevin Cullum, president of NMAC. 'Forming Nissan Bank U.S. gives us greater flexibility to serve dealers more efficiently and competitively—so they can better serve their customers. It also deepens our support for locally owned dealerships, many of which are small businesses that anchor their communities. From small towns to major markets, this Bank will help dealers access the tools they need to grow—while reinforcing our long-term investment in the U.S. market.' The Bank will leverage NMAC's commercial lending expertise and long-standing relationships with more than 1,200 dealerships. Its charter would allow for more flexible and cost-effective financing options, empowering dealers to better serve their customers. In addition, the Bank intends to uphold Nissan's strong legacy of community investment by supporting financial literacy, affordable housing, and economic development initiatives in Utah and beyond. Consumer auto loans will continue to be offered directly by NMAC. The formation of the Bank is subject to regulatory approval. Nissan worked closely with their advisors, Klaros Group, and counsel, Covington and Burling, in preparing the application. Dystany Spurlock to Make NHRA History With Support From Foxxtecca

DETROIT, June 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Foxxtecca is making history with professional motorcycle drag racer Dystany Spurlock, who will become only the second Black woman ever to compete in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class. She makes her debut Juneteenth weekend, June 20–22, at her home track, Virginia Motorsports Park, during the Virginia NHRA Nationals. Spurlock joins trailblazer Peggy Llewellyn in one of motorsports' most exclusive and underrepresented clubs, women of color competing at the sport's highest level. "Since 2021, I've been working behind the scenes with Dystany Spurlock to help her reach the next level in her career," said Chris Harris, co-founder of Foxxtecca, a media and mobility company focused on culture and equity. "In my eyes, she checks every box. Unfortunately, many of the companies we approached weren't willing to provide the financial backing needed to take that next step, so my partner and I, Kellie Crawford, made the decision to invest in her ourselves. "We're not shying away from the DEI conversation, we're embracing it fully as we continue to break barriers. Foxxtecca may be a small company with limited resources, but we believe in Dystany and understand the impact of her visibility at this level. Our hope is that this moment inspires larger companies to recognize her talent and come alongside her for a full-time campaign in 2026." Spurlock will debut as part of Arana Racing, a respected father-son team led by Hector Arana Sr. and Hector Arana Jr., both champions and innovators in motorcycle drag racing. The partnership marks a powerful cultural milestone, bringing together Black and Hispanic excellence on one of drag racing's biggest stages. "This moment has been years in the making," Spurlock said. "I've faced every kind of roadblock imaginable, but I've never stopped chasing this dream. I'm proud to represent my community, and I'm beyond thankful to Foxxtecca for believing in me when so many didn't. This isn't just about me racing, it's about showing the next generation what's possible." The Virginia NHRA Nationals will take place June 20–22 in North Dinwiddie, Va., at Virginia Motorsports Park. Spurlock's debut is expected to draw fans, supporters, and media eager to witness a pivotal moment for motorsports, culture, and representation. Honda Will Supply New Parts for Old Cars, Starting With the NSX

Honda wants to help you keep your old NSX on the road for a very long time. The automaker is starting a new program to supply parts for "some discontinued models." The program launches in Spring 2026, coinciding with a new restoration service that'll use the parts. Naturally, the first car Honda will support is the first-generation NSX . It's unclear what parts Honda plans to supply, but it doesn't sound like they'll all be genuine OEM. The automaker stated it has been "increasingly difficult to supply all genuine parts in old vehicles," and the company calls its new service a supply of "genuine compatible parts," which is different. "With the cooperation of various business partners, we have been considering the production of alternative parts for parts that can no longer be produced and supplied," the automaker said in its (translated) announcement . It sounds like Honda plans to use remanufactured parts, 3D printing, and other methods to expand its supply. Honda says it will "adopt parts that meet quality standards in terms of function and performance as "genuine compatible parts" and supply them "globally." It has been offering an "NSX Refresh Plan" since 1993, but Honda is discontinuing that service this summer. The company will expand its restoration service to include "other sports car types," but it's unclear which models it'll add next or when. The automaker says it'll have more details available on the services and parts supply this fall. That'll give you a few months to find a first-generation NSX in need of some TLC.
