'We thought this was a concert. We paid $800. Sing," one attendee screamed, as another later shouted, "We thought this was a concert"The Tribeca Festival premiere of Miley Cyrus' new film Something Beautiful — which accompanies her recently-released album of the same name — was interrupted by hecklers who wanted to hear the star sing.
The actress and singer, 32, premiered her new project at the Beacon Theatre during the annual New York City event on Friday, June 6.
At one point, while she was onstage taking part in a Q&A with producer Panos Cosmatos and co-directors and co-writers Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, audience members yelled at Cyrus to perform.
'We paid $800. Sing," one attendee screamed, as another later shouted, "We thought this was a concert.'
Cyrus ended up appeasing fans' requests to hear her voice, as she sang an impromptu a cappella rendition of 'The Climb' — her popular tune from 2009's Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Cyrus' supporters came to her defense after videos of the moment went viral on social media.
"She's so nice and patient. Those 'fans' are soooo rude and entitled. They should be ashamed," one user wrote, as another said, "She owes these people nothing. She handled this with such class and grace. Shame on them."

Added one other commenter: "Maybe do your research before attending then. She's not an object, you don't demand someone to sing 🫠."
A representative for both Cyrus and the Tribeca Festival did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on Saturday, June 7.
Cyrus released Something Beautiful, her ninth studio album, on May 30. The accompanying visual film will be released in theaters later this month.

‘The Waltons' star Michael Learned explains why she never crossed the line with her TV husband

Michael Learned will always have a great love for Ralph Waite. The actress, who starred as Olivia Walton in "The Waltons," recently attended The Hollywood Show, where she opened up about how she kept her relationship with her on-screen husband platonic despite their chemistry. "We had a spat about something totally insignificant, and I was so upset that I had to knock on his trailer door with tears streaming down my face," Learned told Fox News Digital in a statement about a memory of the late actor that has stayed with her. "I said, 'We have to make up, or I can't do the scene with you,'" she recalled. "He held out his arms and gave me a big hug. That was Ralph Waite." At the fan event, Learned revealed that while they both loved each other, "we didn't sleep together in real life." "I just loved him, and he loved me," she said, as quoted by People magazine. "That was very real, and we were also very wise," the 86-year-old shared. "We knew that that could just go downhill. So, as much as we loved each other, we were just very respectful of the show and who we were and who our characters were. So, we just remained dear, dear friends." "The Waltons" tells the tale of a family living in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia during the Great Depression. It ran for eight seasons between 1972 and 1981. According to the outlet, the success of the series resulted in six TV movies, which wrapped up in 1997. Waite, who played patriarch John "Pa" Walton Sr., died in 2014 at age 85. The outlet shared that he last reunited with the cast a year before he died, for an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Learned previously admitted that her on-screen chemistry with Waite was the real deal. However, they never pursued a romance. "I loved him very much," she explained to Fox News Digital in 2022. "And we loved each other as much as anybody could love anybody. We never slept together. But our love was so deep and spiritual. And you know, Ralph would put me in my place when he thought I was being an a-----e. He didn't make any bones about telling me to shape up. And it was the same with me." "We were truly family, with all the ups and downs that come with it, except there was no prior baggage," Learned added. WATCH: MICHAEL LEARNED SAYS 'THE WALTONS' SAVED HER LIFE, CALLS FILM 'SECOND ACTS' A GIFT The U.K.'s DailyMail first reported in 2019 that Learned and Waite "were in love" off-screen. At the time, a spokesperson for the actress confirmed to Fox News Digital that, even though the two stars were attracted to each other, they never escalated the relationship out of concern that it would get "messy." "We had a deep love for each other that we would have ruined if we had taken that extra step, and we didn't," Learned told the outlet. "We never did. We thought about it, but we didn't. And I think that's why we became a spiritual husband and wife, if you will, and I miss him terribly. His wife is a very good friend. But what Ralph and I had was something that came across on screen." The costars were tempted to explore their feelings further, she said. "We thought about it. We did," Learned told the outlet. "There was a period where Ralph and I were both single, and we did love each other, so we made a date, and it was going to happen, and we got together, and we looked at each other and went, 'Nah, this will never work.' "Thankfully, we had the good sense to not take the next step, because I think it would have gotten messy. It might have gotten messy, but our love was very deep and true." "The smart thing was we were smart enough not to carry it to the next step, because I think it could have really turned bad," Learned stressed. "I'm not sure, maybe, but our love was very deep and very special, and I miss him terribly." The cast has remained close over the years. Learned described them as "my second family." "We spent more time together shooting the show than we did with our own families," she told Fox News Digital in 2022. "So, of course, we became close. I love them. And it makes us feel good that the show continues to hit home. So many people came up to me, even today, and said, 'Watching 'The Waltons' was the only time I felt safe for an hour.' Others tell me it reminds them of their childhoods when life was sweeter and more innocent. We're proud of our work."

Alligator on Florida golf course takes victory lap with stolen club

Footage has surfaced showing an alligator traversing a Florida pond while displaying a golf club like a trophy. Presumably, the golfer is OK. The footage, shared by WINK News meteorologist Matt Devitt, was captured at an Orlando golf course recently by a WINK viewer named Doug. 'Only in Florida,' Devitt joked via Instagram. 'I'd let him play through.' It's unclear if the alligator stole the club from a bag, if the club had been left near the pond, or if the golfer had tossed the club into the water during a tantrum. It's also unclear if the voice in the audio belongs to the golfer who lost the club. While alligator sightings on Florida golf courses are fairly routine, this was extraordinary. It looks as though the gator is using the club as a snorkel or, as one follower remarked, a periscope. The top Instagram comment, predictably, reads: 'What happened to the golfer?'

Jussie Smollett reveals he's engaged to actor Jabari Redd: 'He said YES'

Jussie Smollett celebrated his birthday as an engaged man. The former "Empire" star, 43, revealed in an Instagram post that he is engaged to actor Jabari Redd. Smollett shared a gallery of photos showing himself down on one knee and presenting a ring to Redd, who looked elated. "I'll be spending my birthday with my Fiancé … He said YES. 💍," Smollett, who turned 43 on Saturday, June 21, wrote in the caption. Redd has appeared on shows like Showtime's "The Chi" and starred in "The Lost Holliday," a 2024 film directed by and starring Smollett. Smollett's sister Jurnee Smollett celebrated his engagement in the comments of the Instagram post, writing that she was "screaming with tears of joy!" She added that "my whole heart loves both of you" and welcomed Redd "to the family." Smollett's sister Jazz Smollett also commented, "Yaaaass!!! Welcome to the family Jabari!!! Love y'all!! Sooooo happy for you both." Jussie Smollett conviction in hate crime hoax overturned by Illinois Supreme Court The engagement news comes more than six years after Smollett was accused of staging a fake hate crime against himself in 2019. He claimed at the time that he was attacked by men who yelled homophobic slurs at him in Chicago. Jussie Smollett says he has 'to move forward' after alleged hate crime hoax Smollett was charged with lying to police about the attack, and he was convicted of felony disorderly conduct in 2021. But in November 2024, the Illinois Supreme Court overturned the actor's conviction, determining that he should not have been charged a second time for the same incident after charges against him were initially dropped in 2019. Smollett has repeatedly denied staging the hate crime and has maintained that the attack was real. Smollett reached a civil settlement with the city of Chicago earlier this year, according to NBC News. In a statement released on Instagram, the actor said he would pay $50,000 to a local nonprofit. "What I have to do now is move forward," he said. "I will continue creating my art, fighting passionately for causes I hold dear and defending my integrity and family name with the truth." Smollett previously told People magazine in an interview in September 2024, "I've moved on and I know that the world, one day, and it might be long after I'm gone, who knows, but one day the world is going to fix this. I just can't wait for that to happen because I have a life to live. But the world is going to fix it all."
