Wisconsin files lawsuit against Miami for tampering during Xavier Lucas recruitment
The Xavier Lucas-Wisconsin saga is far from over. Early Friday, Yahoo's Ross Dellenger reported that the University of Wisconsin-Madison has filed a lawsuit against the University of Miami over tampering allegations regarding the recruitment of the former Badgers defensive back.
After learning about Wisconsin's lawsuit against the University of Miami, the Big Ten released their own statement on the matter: "The Big Ten Conference is aware of the litigation recently filed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison against the University of Miami and is supportive of UW-Madison's position. As alleged, the University of Miami knowingly ignored contractual obligations and disregarded the principle of competitive equity that is fundamental to collegiate athletics. The Big Ten Conference believes that the University of Miami's actions are irreconcilable with a sustainable college sports framework and is supportive of UW-Madison's efforts to preserve."
With the latest house settlement regarding revenue sharing, it became clear that lawsuits like these would become more frequent. While college student-athletes making money off their name, image and likeness was long in the works, the rollout of the new structure was flawed. That new legislation, along with the new transfer portal rules, have shifted college sports in massive ways. It seems as if there has been little done to organize a clear structure to address those issues.
Wisconsin's position in this lawsuit is extremely important for the future of revenue sharing and will set a precedent for all deals made with student athletes. Wisconsin is looking not only to sue Miami for financial damages but also deeming UM's recruitment tactics as "wrongful.' UW-Madison also alleges that Miami knowingly sent a coach and important alumnus to the Florida home of Xavier Lucas in December, where they offered "financial terms more lucrative than those included in the contracts" that he had already signed with the Badgers.
This is one of the first instances of a university going after another university with credible allegations of tampering and could set a new standard for how situations like these are handled in the college sports world.

Patriots had three traits in mind when drafting a new kicker
The New England Patriots had three characteristics in mind when they were preparing to select a kicker in the 2025 NFL draft. They wanted consistency, character and the ability to improve. So they landed on University of Miami kicker Andres Borregales in the sixth round with the 182nd overall pick. Not only was Borregales one of the most decorated kickers in the program's history, but he was arguably the best kicker in the entire country. He made 86 percent of his field goals and converted 183-of-184 extra point attempts. His senior year was especially impressive with him making 18-of-19 field goals and converting all 62 of his extra points. He was a member of the All-ACC team in 2023 and 2024, while also being a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award for three consecutive seasons. 'Consistency, right? First and foremost, they've gotta make kicks. He did that throughout his career,' Patriots special teams coach Jeremy Springer said on Borregales, via MassLive's Chris Mason. 'So consistency was No. 1, then just the type of kid he is, the type of character, and then the overall ability. Does he have the ability to get better?' The only other competition for Borregales on the Patriots' roster is veteran kicker John Parker Romo. It will be an uphill battle for Romo, who got outperformed by Borregales during the spring practices. 4-star Alabama target announces official commitment date
Yet another Alabama Crimson Tide football recruiting target will be announcing their commitment decision over the coming days. According to a post on social media Friday afternoon, Roman Voss will be announcing his decision this upcoming Monday, June 23. Voss will decide between Alabama and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, two finalists he recently announced back in May. At the moment, Voss is currently considered as the nation's No. 207 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Minnesota where he attends Jackson County Central High School. Voss, a four-star prospect, is also ranked as the No. 12 overall athlete nationally. The decision of Voss is yet another to add to what is a loaded next two weeks for the Crimson Tide. Where Auburn stands in Claude Mpouma's recruitment ahead of his June commitment date
Auburn remains in the mix to land the four-star lineman from Illinois ahead of his commitment date. Four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma included the Auburn Tigers in his top five schools this week, and has set a commitment date. Where does Auburn stand in the mix? The offensive lineman from Chicago, Illinois, announced on social media that he will announce his pledge on Sunday, June 29, and that Auburn is among the top programs that remain in contention to land him. The Tigers join Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, and Nebraska in the race for Mpouma's signature. A successful visit to the Plains earlier this month is a key reason why Auburn remains high on Mpouma's radar. In an interview with Jeffrey Lee of On3, Mpouma said that offensive line coach Jake Thornton and defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, who is an alum of the high school that Mpouma attends, is selling Auburn well and that Auburn is a "top three" school for him, and that they are not the No. 3 school for him. What makes Auburn special to Mpouma? 'The culture. They're pretty big on that,' Mpouma said in an interview with Auburn Live. 'I feel like that's a big thing, too. That's something I respect a lot.' Now that we know Auburn is one of the top schools to land Mpouma, what are the odds that they close the deal? On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives Nebraska a slight edge over Auburn, 33% to 24%. He has zero crystal ball predictions from 247Sports, but those predictions could start filing in this week ahead of his commitment date. Mpouma is a 6-8, 260-pound offensive tackle from Chicago, Illinois. He is considered a four-star prospect by every major recruiting outlet and ranks as high as No. 12 among offensive linemen rankings in 2026. Auburn's recruiting class ranks No. 57 in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting rankings, so a commitment fro Mpouma would do wonders for a class that is currently struggling in the rankings.
