YSRCP demands probe into ‘irregularities' in SSC exam evaluation
YSRCP leader and former Minister Adimulapu Suresh has demanded an immediate inquiry into the irregularities in the Class 10 answer scripts' evaluation, accusing the Education Department of jeopardising the students' future.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Thursday, Mr. Suresh called for action against HRD Minister N. Lokesh and others responsible for the irregularities. He also wanted the government to hold admissions to polytechnics, residential schools, and IIITs until the revaluation and reverification process was completed.
'The department rushed evaluations to favor corporate colleges, compromising students' futures,' he asserted.
Mr. Suresh highlighted the errors in over 30% of re-evaluated scripts, with marks in some cases rising from 30 to 93. The hasty process, completed in 21 days, was driven by corporate pressure for early JEE/NEET admissions, with Social Studies papers evaluated in only five days, he said.
'The coalition government has played with thousands of students' lives for corporate profit,' he charged, noting that over 11,000 students saw revised marks after 60,000 applied for revaluation.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP student wing criticised the government, holding Mr. Lokesh directly responsible for gross mismanagement in the evaluation of answer scripts.
In a memorandum submitted to the Commissioner of School Education in Mangalagiri, the its State president P. Chaitanya and working president Ravichandra demanded stringent action against those accountable. They also sought a public apology and the Minister's resignation.

YSRCP slams govt for politicizing tragic accident
Vijayawada: The YSRCP has strongly condemned the TDP coalition's attempt to politicize the tragic accident that resulted in the death of party activist Cheeli Singaiah during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy 's recent visit. Former minister Ambati Rambabu said that it was unfortunate to portray the accident as a big conspiracy, instead of treating the matter with the sensitivity it deserves. "The ruling coalition is attempting to exploit it for political gain," Ambati alleged. The YSRCP leader pointed out that Prathipadu YSRCP in-charge Kiran Kumar immediately rushed to the hospital upon receiving news of the accident and remained with the bereaved family until the postmortem was completed, offering them full support. The following day, senior party leaders from the district, including Ambati, visited the family and handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh as financial assistance. The district superintendent of police, Satish Kumar, has clearly stated that the vehicle involved in the accident was a private vehicle, not part of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy. The driver and owner were identified and interrogated, confirming that the accident had no connection with the convoy itself. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brass Krishna Idols For Prosperity & Protection In Life Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo Despite this, the ruling coalition released a video four days after the incident, falsely blaming YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Ambati criticized the Naidu-led govt for failing to provide adequate security to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, a Z+ security protectee. "A rope party and road clearance team must lead the convoy, but the government has deliberately compromised on Jagan's security," Ambati alleged. This is not an isolated instance, as similar security failures were observed during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's tours in Rapthadu and Podili. The coalition govt is using these lapses to orchestrate a character assassination campaign against the former CM, he claimed. The YSRCP demands a transparent and impartial investigation into both the accident and the security lapses that continue to put the life of a Z+ protectee at risk. "We urge the state govt to immediately rectify these lapses and stop using such incidents to settle political scores," Ambati said. The party reiterates that human tragedy must never be used as a political weapon.

‘Revive scheme to bring more adi dravidar, tribal students to IITs, NITs'
Madurai: A Madurai-based activist has called for reviving a skill development scheme announced under the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) in 2013-2014 but was not implemented due to 'administrative reasons'. Based on a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) Act query, activist S Karthik told TOI that had the scheme been properly implemented, hundreds of adi dravidar and tribal students in Tamil Nadu would have got opportunities to study in IITs or NITs. "The scheme became defunct almost the same year citing administrative reasons. As per the scheme, 50 students would be selected by an exam each year and given special training for JEE and AIEEE exams by selected institutions at 1 lakh per student for two years in their Class XI and Class XII," he said. The RTI reply showed that a GO dated Oct 15, 2013, was issued by the adi dravidar and tribal welfare department, regarding implementation of the scheme under TAHDCO. However, the scheme was abandoned without a single beneficiary. He said it is baffling that the state government did not give a second thought to the scheme and urged it to immediately revive the scheme by allotting necessary funds and select at least 100 students for the following year. Notably, at present, the Naan Mudhalvan scheme of the Tamil Nadu govt provides support for students from underprivileged backgrounds for higher education.

Lokesh pats minister Narayana for his efforts in reviving the 150-year-old VR school at Nellore
Tirupati: HRD minister Nara Lokesh appreciated the efforts put in by municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana in reviving the 150-year-old VR school at Nellore, where Narayana not only studied but also began his teaching career as a part-time teacher. The VR school, which has a rich legacy, had almost become defunct and was shut down during the erstwhile YSRCP regime. In the run-up to the 2024 general elections, Narayana promised to the people of Nellore that the VR school will be revived immediately after the TDP-led NDA govt comes back to power in the state. In an effort to fulfil his promise, the municipal administration minister has now revived the VR school with international infrastructure including digital classrooms, state-of-the-art labs and an impressive sports arena with the help of funds to the tune of Rs 15 crore extended under the CSR initiative by the NCC group. With the help of the state municipal administration dept, about 1,000 children from the most underprivileged sections of the society were handpicked and provided admission at the VR school, which is all set to be reopened in the last week of June.
