4 of a family killed, four injured as car crashes into divider
Jhansi: In the early hours of Thursday, a car accident claimed the lives of four members of a family, including two women, while four others were critically injured after their vehicle hit a road divider on Jhansi-Kanpur highway in Jhansi district.
A family of eight members was travelling from their native place in Siddharthnagar to Maharashtra. Around 3.30am, as their vehicle was passing village Khilli under the jurisdiction of Pooch police station, the driver lost control and crashed into the divider.
The force of the collision left the vehicle completely damaged, causing immediate deaths of three occupants. Police and a rescue team arrived at the spot following alerts from some passersby.
Rescuers had to cut open the wrecked vehicle to extricate the occupants, all of whom were then rushed to Jhansi Medical College. Medical staff declared Asma Khan, 40, her fifteen-year-old daughter Parveen, and the driver Amir, 45, dead on arrival, while Asma's husband Ubaidur Rehman, 45, later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Ubaidur's father Shabuddin, 70, and three children including a daughter, all 6 to 10 years old, were critical condition.
SO JP Pall of Pooch police station stated that preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle was travelling at a high speed and it is possible the driver may have dozed off.

Flyer misses flight, enters restricted airport area
Jun 22, 2025 07:16 AM IST MUMBAI: A 25-year-old man was booked by the Sahar police after he entered the restricted area of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The police said the man was supposed to take a flight to Patna but reached the airport late. He then opened the airport's emergency door and went to the tarmac where his plane had still to take off. When an Air India flight from Gujarat landed and was being parked, he tried going near the plane but was detained by the authorities. Flyer misses flight, enters restricted airport area The offender, Piyush Pawan Kumar Soni, is a resident of Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai, who hails from Darbhanga city in Bihar. A case has been lodged against him on the complaint of Suhas Thorat, who works with Air India as a senior associate and was posted at Terminal 2 of CSMIA. 'According to Thorat's complaint on June 19, when an Air India flight from Bhuj, Gujarat, was being parked, an unidentified person, later identified as Soni, opened the emergency door of the airport and went close to the aircraft,' said the police officer. 'He was stopped and detained by the airport authorities.' 'The airport authorities handed him to us and we registered a case against him under Section 29 (acts likely to imperil the safety of aircraft) of the Aircraft Rules, 1937, and Section 125 (acts that endanger the life or personal safety of others due to rash or negligent behaviour) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, as his act could have put the lives of others in danger,' said the police officer. The police said they had issued Soni a notice of appearance and allowed him to go.

DNA confirms AI crew member Nganthoi's identity
Guwahati: The identity of the cabin crew member on the ill-fated Ahmedabad-London Air India flight, Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma of Manipur, has finally been confirmed after a DNA match, her family members said on Saturday. Manipur lost two of its daughters — Nganthoi (20) and Lamnunthem Singson (26) — who were among the crew members aboard the Air India flight that crashed on June 12. Nganthoi's sister Gitanjali told TOI from Ahmedabad on Saturday that the authorities have confirmed her identity among the deceased in the Air India flight crash. "DNA of my sister has matched with our family. We have got the confirmation today after a long wait," said Gitanjali. One of Nganthoi's family members said they are expecting to bring her mortal remains to Imphal on Sunday. It was a patient wait of more than a week by the family members of Nganthoi, a Meitei girl, for the confirmation of her mortal remains through DNA match. Gitanjali and a few of her family members have been camping in Ahmedabad since June 13. "Air India is arranging our return to Imphal with Nganthoi's mortal remains. We are not sure in which flight we are coming. It may be through a connecting flight to Imphal," the family member said.

Flyer misses plane, sprints on runway to board it
Mumbai: Could this be the typical Mumbaikar instinct to rush to catch a just-missed local train? A 25-year-old man from Kalamboli who darted across the city airport after missing his flight was arrested on Thursday for entering the apron — the area where planes are parked, hoping to board the flight he had just missed. Security officials spotted the man, Piyush Soni, running towards the parking area where an Air India flight from Gujarat had landed. The man had arrived at the airport a little after 9.50 am — the deadline for boarding had crossed, said officials of Sahar police station. Soni was unaware that his Air India flight for Patna had already taken off. The aircraft that he was running towards was one that arrived from Bhuj. Soni initially claimed that the driver of a coach, that drops flyers near the aircraft, had "by mistake dropped him close to the runway". However, security officials later said it was a lie, the police said. In a complaint, an Air India staffer has stated that they noticed a man running towards a plane, risking flight movement and potentially causing a fatal incident had some aircraft been taking off. Soni was handed over to airport security (CISF) officials. "During inquiry, Soni revealed that he arrived at the airport late and the gate had closed. He entered the runway by opening the emergency access between gate 42 and gate 43 from inside and ran towards the plane to board it without knowing which one was scheduled to depart," the police said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like (1) Your Antivirus May Require Activation Click Here Undo Soni has been booked for endangering lives and offences under the Aircraft Act.
