Telangana government accepts Governor's recommendation on houses for vulnerable tribals
HYDERABAD: The state government will be sanctioning houses to people belonging to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PTVG) across the state in saturation mode under the Indiramma Housing Scheme.
The government will also be transforming Hyderabad slums by building three-storey housing complexes.
According to Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, the state government has identified 9,395 PTVG families in the Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) areas. It has also decided to allocate an additional 20 per cent of houses to eligible ST families.
Speaking to TNIE, Srinivasa Reddy said that Governor Jishnu Dev Verma had recommended housing for PVTGs. The move is aimed at providing permanent housing to the PVTG community.
'As the Governor is the custodian of Sixth Schedule areas, we will respect and implement his recommendations,' he said.
'The PTVG families living in Utnoor, Bhadrachalam and Eturnagaram ITDAs would benefit from this initiative,' he added.
Meanwhile, Srinivasa Reddy instructed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, Housing Development Department MD VP Gautam and Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty to expedite the process of identifying suitable sites for building Indiramma houses in Hyderabad.
'We have studied the Mumbai model and realised that three-storey buildings are a successful model for providing housing for the poor. But the purpose is defeated when the number of floors exceeds three,' he said.
The minister said that the slum dwellers will be eager to shift to the houses built for them if the government constructs permanent houses with all facilities. He pointed out that around 19,000 houses sanctioned during the previous BRS regime remained unoccupied to this day as the beneficiaries were not interested in moving into those houses. 'I don't want to make a similar mistake,' he added.

SIT summons BJP leader in T'gana phone-tapping case
The Special Investigation Team of the Telangana police probing the alleged phone tapping during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi regime, summoned a close aide of Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay for questioning in connection with the case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) disclosed on Friday. The statement said the SIT, which began its investigation into phone tapping after the Congress came to power, had already confirmed that Bandi Sanjay's phone had been tapped (HT Archive) In a statement, the Telangana BJP said the SIT officials had confirmed on Friday that the phone of Bandi Sanjay's close aide and BJP Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency convenor, Boyinapalli Praveen Rao, was tapped during the previous BRS regime. 'The SIT authorities called up Praveen Rao and informed him that his phone number was also in the list of those which were tapped. They said they would summon him shortly, and he would be required to appear before the investigating authorities for questioning,' the BJP said. Meanwhile, BJP state general secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy, too, confirmed that he had received the information from the investigating authorities that his phone, too, was tapped during the previous regime. The statement said the SIT, which began its investigation into phone tapping after the Congress came to power, had already confirmed that Bandi Sanjay's phone had been tapped. 'Now, the investigation has revealed that the phones of his staff and close associates were also tapped,' it said. The party said Praveen Rao has been a long-time associate of Bandi Sanjay and had managed Sanjay's election campaigns in the past. 'In recent years, Praveen Rao has served as Sanjay's personal assistant and the BJP Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency convenor, coordinating constituency tours and supervising the execution of various programmes,' it said. It said Praveen Rao had taken part in the agitations of Sanjay during the BRS regime against forcible implementation of GO 317 (on employees' transfers), leakage of Class 10 examination paper, communal violence at Bhainsa and other such incidents. 'He was even named as a co-accused in several public agitation-related cases alongside Sanjay,' the party said. Premender Reddy also said the SIT authorities had informed him, too, that his phone was also tapped during the BRS regime. 'I shall hand over all the evidence and other details of my mobile phone to the Jubilee Hills police on Monday,' he said, adding that if the police did not take any action even after gathering all the details, the state government would be held responsible.

Bandi Sanjay dares Congress government to seek CBI inquiry into phone tapping case to bring ‘masterminds' behind it to justice
Alleging that the Congress was having a secret understanding with the BRS, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday dared Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to seek a CBI inquiry into the telephone tapping case. Mr Sanjay was in Karimnagar to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations held at the Dr BR Ambedkar stadium on Saturday. Later, speaking to the media, he questioned why Mr. Revanth Reddy, who had demanded a CBI probe into the phone tapping issue while he was the TPCC president during the BRS rule, failed to act upon it after coming to power. He alleged that the previous K. Chandrasekhar Rao-led dispensation filed dozens of cases against him. 'I was the first to speak out about the phone tapping. The tapping was conducted from Hyderabad and Sircilla. Everyone knows who is behind this,' he added. Mr. Sanjay Kumar said, 'Former Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is the prime accused in the phone tapping case, tapped the phone of BJP leaders, including mine. The accused did not just tap phones of BJP leaders but also of Congress and BRS leaders. Even judges were not spared.' The prime accused 'fled' the country after the Congress came to power, he criticised. 'Despite clear evidence that the phone tapping was done at the behest of the persons at the helm in the previous BRS government, why has no notice been issued to the masterminds behind the nefarious crime?' he asked. Stating that he had received a phone call from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone tapping case to testify before it, Mr. Sanjay said he will cooperate with the investigation and act as per law.

About 8.5 lakh applications received in Revenue Sadassus and 60% of them resolved: Minister Ponguleti
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Congress government was systematically cleansing the revenue system that was plagued by corruption and mismanagement during the decade-long BRS rule. Speaking at a review meeting with officials on Saturday, the Minister stated that the recently concluded State-wide revenue sessions have ushered in a new era of transparency in land administration. Stating that the outreach was extensive, the Minister revealed that 10,725 revenue sessions were conducted in three phases across 593 mandals, during which a total of 8.58 lakh applications related to land issues were received. In the first phase (April 17 to 30), 72 revenue sessions across 4 mandals were held and 12,000 applications were received. In Phase-2 (from May 5), 414 sessions across 28 mandals were held and 46,000 applications were received. In the last phase (June 3 to 20), 10,239 sessions were held across 561 mandals and 8 lakh applications were received. The highest applications were received in Khammam (67,000) followed by Bhadradri Kothagudem (61,000), Warangal (54,000), Jayashankar Bhupalapalli (48,000) and Nalgonda (42,000). The Minister noted that more than 60% of issues, excluding those involving title complexities, have already been resolved, reflecting the responsive nature of the new system introduced by the government. He said special efforts were made to make the process accessible and transparent. On the eve of each revenue conference, free application forms were distributed to farmers in villages. Special MRO-led teams received applications without collecting any fees and provided receipts on the spot. Out of the total received, 3.27 lakh applications have already been digitised and registered online. The Minister alleged that the revenue system, once destroyed and paralysed by political negligence, was now being rebuilt with the trust of the people. The implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act was launched on April 14 by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
