'The Tides That Bind': Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer offers inside access to debut season
When Coach Kalen DeBoer stepped onto what is now called the Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium sideline as the Alabama Crimson Tide's new head coach, he wasn't just filling the shoes of a legend – he was stepping into history.
Taking over for the iconic Nick Saban, DeBoer led the Tide through a season marked by tough losses, triumphant victories and a defining win over Georgia.
Now, Fox Nation is pulling back the curtain on Alabama football's new era. "The Tides that Bind," a six-part docuseries debuting this week, takes fans behind the scenes of DeBoer's first year at the helm, offering an inside look at the triumphs and trials that shaped perhaps one of the most storied seasons in college football history.
"Anytime you have a platform like this, where Alabama and Fox Nation joined together to put this documentary out for everyone to get the behind-the-scenes look and feel at least a little bit of what it's like here in our program, it's just an awesome opportunity for us," DeBoer told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

"I think a lot of people really enjoy what they see and what they'll be intrigued by our program and want to hopefully follow even closer down the road."

The former Washington Huskies coach got the call to take over the SEC powerhouse franchise shortly after Saban stunned the sports world by announcing his retirement at the end of the 2023 season.
Following on the heels of a sports legend with an overall 201–29 record seemed to be nothing short of a daunting task to many.
"You really try to simplify it down and not let it be as big as it probably really is when it comes to being here at Alabama and especially as the head coach," DeBoer said.
"You understand the dynamics that are here when it comes to Alabama, but really you try to keep the focus on the players, the staff and just helping everyone be the best they can be and creating an environment to bring out their best."
Nick Saban Reveals 'Biggest Mistake' Of Illustrious Coaching Career
Though some things changed with the dawn of the new era, what remains unchanged are the thousands of screaming, houndstooth-wearing, "Dixieland Delight"-singing, Auburn-loathing students and Tide loyals who pour into the stadium year-after-year to root for their favorite team against rivals like the Tennessee Volunteers, the LSU Tigers, the Texas Longhorns and the neighboring Georgia Bulldogs.
The university's marching band, the Million-Dollar Band, only partially drowns out the sounds of a fan base notorious for their passion and high standards.
The Crimson Tide emerged victorious in one of the most highly-anticipated rivalry games of the season after handing the Bulldogs a 41-34 loss in DeBoer's SEC opener.
But triumphs were not without trials.
After three crushing losses, including one to the Vanderbilt Commodores and another to the Tennessee Volunteers in one of college football's most storied rivalries, some of that passion turned to anger, and fans' frustrations turned on staff members and players.
What Are The 10 Best Individual Performances In Cfp History?
"We want expectations to stay high. That's why everyone came here. For myself, to our staff, the team, we remind each other of that. We understand that's the reason why everyone wants to be a part of this program, to be a part of the great tradition and history, and our goal is to make it even better for those that follow us," DeBoer said.
"I think for us, for me, it's just trying to really get back to the basics and making it about growth and development, and that starts with the individuals that are here, the players in particular, and really focusing on them… and I think this docuseries shows a little bit of all of that with some behind the scenes that specifically it is football, but I think a lot of it is really cool stories that our players or even those that surround the program and even fans have that people don't know about."
"I think the journey is special, and to have this documentary hit on a lot of the journeys of different people that touch the program is really cool."
The first episode of "The Tides that Bind: Inside Alabama Football" drops today, with five more episodes following.

Four-star WR Devin Carter stands firm in commitment to Auburn football
Recruiting noise surrounding the Auburn Tigers has been at a minimum lately as the program has landed just one commitment since April, and recently lost a four-star linebacker that caused their ranking to plummet. However, Auburn fans received good news this weekend as one of its top pledges to its 2026 class reaffirmed his commitment to the program following his recent official visit. Devin Carter, a four-star wide receiver from Douglasville, Georgia, and an Auburn pledge since January, took his official visit to the Plains over the weekend, where he told reporters such as Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live that he remains locked in with Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers. Carter visited Georgia, Florida State, and North Carolina officially, but says that he saved his "best visit for last" and that he remains as committed as he was when he announced his pledge in January. 'I feel the same, I'm locked in. Same as I was months ago when I committed. This was just reassurance that it's home. I had a great time here and I love it here. Coach (Marcus) Davis and his belief in me. Coach (Hugh) Freeze and his belief in me also. Just the whole coaching staff and the way they pour into me and express the way that they feel about me. They're going to use me well here and I'm going to make plays here in Jordan-Hare Stadium. We're going to be special here. And Deuce Knight, I got to workout with him last night. We went to the field and ran some routes. That's my guy. He's one of them ones. We're going to be special.' Advertisement Carter says that Knight having one year of development before he gets to campus will be vital, and it is a process that he is happy to be a part of. Carter also says that he is joining the Tigers' coaching staff as well as several top 2026 commits in recruiting four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, who was also on the Plains for a weekend visit. Carter is the No. 15 wide receiver of the 2026 class and is the No. 13 player from Georgia according to 247Sports. He is the second-highest rated commit to Auburn's 2026 haul, trailing four-star EDGE Hezekiah Harris. Auburn projected to land commitment from 2026 four-star edge Jaquez Wilkes
The Auburn Tigers need some positive news with their 2026 recruiting class. On Sunday, Auburn lost its commitment from four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle when he flipped to rival Georgia. Auburn now has the No. 62 class for 2026 per 247Sports. There was good news, though. On3's Jeffrey Lee has predicted that the Tigers will get a commitment from four-star edge rusher Jaquez Wilkes. The confidence level in that prediction is currently at 60%. Wilkes is one of the best players of the 2026 recruiting class. He is an in-state prospect from Wadley, Alabama. He is ranked 10th at his position nationally, and No. 88 overall. Also, Wilkes is rated No. 6 in Alabama. He was a key player for the Wadley Bulldogs to win the AHSAA 1A State Championship in 2024. They defeated Maplesville in convincing fashion 37-7. 247Sports' Cooper Petagna evaluated Wilkes as a player who should be able to translate to the next level due to his size, speed, and athleticism. Advertisement The Tigers currently only have six players committed to the 2026 class. Auburn also has a commitment from four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harrison from Jemison, Alabama. In 2026, the Tigers could be looking to replace edge rusher Keldric Faulk. Therefore, it will be a position of need for Auburn. Faulk is being projected as a first-round draft pick by many draft experts for the 2026 NFL Draft. With recent developments in recruiting, the Tigers need a big commitment to get back on track. Wilkes would do that for this program. Contact/Follow us @TheAuburnWire on X (Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Auburn news, notes, and opinions. Four-star wide receiver Devin Carter backs off Auburn pledge, commits to Florida State
At the beginning of his Auburn tenure, head coach Hugh Freeze was known for "flipping" recruits from other programs. Entering year three, it appears that several programs are out for revenge. Monday, Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported that four-star wide receiver Devin Carter has de-committed from Auburn and, in turn, has committed to Florida State. Carter decommitted from Mike Norvell and the Seminoles in January 2024 and announced his commitment to Auburn nearly one year later on Jan. 11 of this year. Still, Florida State kept recruiting Carter, and their persistence paid off. Advertisement The move from Auburn to Florida State comes one week after Carter took his official visit to Auburn, where he told reporters that he was "locked in" with Auburn. 'I feel the same, I'm locked in. Same as I was months ago when I committed. This was just reassurance that it's home," Carter said on his official visit to Auburn earlier this month. "I had a great time here and I love it here. We're going to be special here." Auburn's 2026 haul has now dropped to five commitments and ranks No. 62 in 247Sports' 2026 rankings. Over the weekend, On3's Jeffrey Lee submitted a prediction for Auburn to land four-star EDGE Jaquez Wilkes. Should Auburn land him, the Tigers may gain momentum in recruiting and end the cycle with a strong class.
