Jim Schlossnagle addresses Texas' response to NCAA baseball tournament seeding
The road to Omaha begins at UFCU Disch-Falk Field for Texas baseball, as the Longhorns were given the No. 2 national seed in the NCAA baseball tournament on Monday.
It's a feat that the Longhorns haven't reached since 2022 and the right to host is only handed out to the top 16 national seeds in the bracket. Though by the Longhorns' response on the ESPN2 broadcast of the bracket reveal show, one might not have known that.
Shortly after his team learned the path it would take to get to the College World Series, Longhorns coach Jim Schlossnagle told reporters in Austin that he had mixed emotions about that response by his team.
"I don't know how I feel about that, because I never want us to take that for granted," Schlossnagle said Monday according to the Austin American-Statesman's David Eckert. "I understand it's Texas, but as long as I'm coaching here, I never want us to assume, and I don't want us to feel like we're entitled to something."

To Texas' slight defense, when the Longhorns were shown on the screen during the bracket reveal show, they perhaps didn't know they were live, or it was pulled by ESPN at a different part of the show to air at the time they heard their name called. The most recent example of this came during the NFL draft with the Cleveland Browns' war room not showing any excitement after the selection of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Browns coach Kevin Stefanski deflecting by saying the clips shown during the draft are "not timed up to exactly the right time."
However, as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words and several members of the Longhorns' roster were caught yawning in the front row.

Monday's bracket reveal marked the third time in program history that Texas was given the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA baseball tournament, with the others coming in 2010 and 2021. The Longhorns are 155-59-1 in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament, which includes an 87-22 record when those games are in Austin.
Texas went 44-12 in its first season under Schlossnagle, who came over from SEC foe Texas A&M during the offseason. The Longhorns won the SEC regular season conference title by two games over Arkansas, while finishing 22-8 overall in SEC play.
The Longhorns are slated to start NCAA baseball tournament play on Friday, May 30, at 2 p.m. ET against Houston Christian at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

Coastal Carolina defeats Oregon State 6-2 to remain unbeaten in the College World Series
OMAHA, Neb. (WBTW) — Coastal Carolina baseball defeated 8th-ranked Oregon State 6-2 Sunday evening to remain undefeated in the College Baseball World Series. The Chanticleers extended their Division I leading 25-game win streak and now find themselves one win away from the College World Series Finals. Advertisement RHP Jacob Morrison picked up the win for CCU after a dominant performance on the mound. The right-handed captain threw 7 2/3 innings, struck out seven Beavers at the plate, and only allowed one run. Coastal Carolina dispatches Louisville 11-3 to advance to College World Series finals against LSU
FINAL — 11-3 Coastal Chanticleers' reliever Dominick Carbone worked around a leadoff single and walk to retire the next three Cardinals hitters in the top of the ninth. Coastal Carolina is headed back to the College World Series finals for the first time since 2016. The Chants will face LSU in a best-of-three series starting on Saturday. Advertisement CCU has won 26 games in a row and hasn't lost since a midweek loss to the College of Charleston on April 22. 8TH INNING — 11-3 Coastal Louisville went down in order again in the top of the eighth as Johnson has retired all seven batters he's faced. The Chanticleers are three outs away from the National Championship. Thorndyke picked up his fifth RBI of the day with an RBI single of Barthol, who walked to lead off the bottom of the eighth. 7TH INNING — 10-3 Coastal Johnson sat Louisville down in order in the top of the seventh. The Chanticleers sit unbeaten in Omaha with a 2-0 record after knocking off Arizona 7-4 in the first round and then dispatching Oregon State 6-2 in the second round. Meanwhile, Louisville fell to Oregon State in Round 1 before winning two straight elimination games over Arizona and Oregon State to reach the semifinals. The Cardinals have had a flair for the dramatic over their past two games, scoring six runs in the eighth inning for a comeback victory over Arizona and walking off Oregon State after blowing a three-run lead in the top of the ninth.
