
Man Arrested, Appeal For Information In Levin Fire
Detective Sergeant Shelley Ross:
Manawatū Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand are making enquiries into a suspicious house fire in Levin this morning.
The fire on Cambridge Street was reported about 4:15am. Fortunately, the occupants of the house escaped without injury.
A 40-year-old Levin man has been taken into custody, and is due in Palmerston North District Court on Monday on an arson charge.
However, Police are still are seeking information from the public.
We are asking for anyone in the area who has CCTV to please come forward.
Part of our enquiries also include the movements of a red Suzuki Swift in the area at the time.

Appeal For Information Following Fatal Crash
Police investigating a fatal crash on the Desert Road/State Highway 1 on Saturday 7 June are seeking information from witnesses. The crash was reported to Police just before 1:10pm. We're interested to hear from anyone who saw a yellow Suzuki Swift travelling southbound on State Highway 1 near Turangi at around 1pm. This includes any dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist our enquiries. Historic ship The Tui 'significantly damaged' by fire in Paihia
Firefighters have brought a blaze upon a historic ship in Paihia under control. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) crews responded to a fire which began on the ship The Tui, which had been converted into a building on land next to the Waitangi Bridge around 4am.
