Inside Holly Willoughby's future TV plans after she was left without a show for the first time in years - amid the axing of two of her programmes within months of each other
has had to rethink her future TV plans after being left without a show to present for the first time in years, but the star is still highly in demand.
It was recently revealed that Holly's Netflix show Celebrity Bear Hunt was axed after just one series, amid claims it was too expensive to make.
This blow came just months after her other mainstream programme Dancing On Ice was rested back in March, while she also decided to step down from presenting duties on You Bet!
The 44-year-old is now at a crossroads in her career, with the star also coincidentally without an ITV show to host for the first time in over two decades.
Having been the darling of TV for several years, Holly is still in huge demand with a plethora of options open to her as she navigates this tricky stage in her career.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
According to The Sun, one option could be the reboot of classic series Record Breakers, which her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin, 50, is currently working on.
Source told the production that Holy would be the 'perfect fit' for the show, which at present is in its early stages and currently does not have a channel attached.
They explained: 'Record Breakers is likely to be a prime time hit and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins. She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly.'
Meanwhile, Holly has also been linked to the revival of Cilla Black's Blind Date, alongside the likes of Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall.
Originally, rumours suggested the ITV hit would make a comeback on BBC but now sources claim the love-match show will reboot on Disney+.
In March, former This Morning host Holly was tipped to become the next Cilla, with the presenter lining up a string of big-money deals worth up to £10million.
The revival was previously being considered by Holly's husband Dan Baldwin, and the star had previously stepped into Cilla's shoes when she hosted a reboot of Surprise Surprise.
An insider told The Sun at the time: 'There might not sound like obvious parallels between Holly and Cilla, but they're both two of the biggest stars of modern telly.
'Emulating Cilla isn't just about taking on her shows, it's as much about carving out a niche as a solo presenter with serious clout in the world of telly.
'But together with her husband Dan, they form the ultimate power couple in TV. She has the public appeal that gets viewers tuning in, while he has a track record of making hugely successful TV shows.'
Elsewhere, it is said that the blonde beauty is also being eyed up for a new Channel 4 show, thought to be called Secret Singers, which hunts for raw and undiscovered singing talent.
With it tipped to be a 'hugely popular' family show, the insider noted that show makers are on the lookout for the 'perfect host', with Holly's current TV break being 'perfect timing'.
MailOnline have contacted Holly's representatives for comment.
Holly recently dashed ITV's hopes that she would be their Saturday night star by turning down a lucrative deal to front game show You Bet!.
ITV sources told the Mail she was 'busy with other commitments' after Holly branched out to host Celebrity Bear Hunt in her first big role away from ITV.
It is the first time that Holly has not had an ITV show on her schedule for the first time in more than two decades after becoming the broadcaster's TV darling.
ITV sources told the Mail she was 'busy with other commitments' after Holly branched out to host Celebrity Bear Hunt in her first big role away from ITV
She has long been a familiar face on both ITV and ITV2, hosting on shows including Surprise Surprise, Celebrity Juice, The Games, The Xtra Factor and I'm A Celebrity.
Holly is arguably best known for having fronted This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield from 2009 until 2023, while she also helmed Dancing On Ice from 2006.
However, ITV viewers now won't be able to get a dose of Holly as there has not yet been any public news of her having signed on to another project with the channel.
In a huge blow to ITV, Holly then turned down a lucrative deal to front a new series of the classic game show You Bet! because of her other commitments.
A source told the Mail: 'You Bet was so popular with the viewers wished it came back for two shows that ITV bosses decided to give it a full run.
'Holly and Stephen are a great double act and they were both brilliant so they were asked back.
'But Holly politely declined, she has other commitments and couldn't make it work.
'She is in demand and now she isn't shackled to This Morning four days a week, she is able to look at more options, some are global.'

EastEnders' CONFIRM fan favourite returning to BBC soap after eight-years away from Albert Square
Oscar Branning is heading back to Albert Square after eight years away from EastEnders. The character, who hasn't featured in a storyline since 2017, is being recast with newcomer Pierre Moullier stepping into the role previously played by Charlee Hall. Oscar is the son of Tanya Branning, who left Walford years ago to escape her volatile marriage, taking a young Oscar with her. His last on-screen appearance was a fleeting one nearly a decade ago, when he returned briefly to celebrate Father's Day with Max at the Queen Vic. Now 17, Oscar has mostly stayed out of the family chaos in the past, unlike his sisters Lauren and Abi. But with his return next month, it looks like drama is on the horizon - and this time, Oscar may be stepping into the spotlight himself. Sharing his excitement about joining the soaps cast, Pierre told The Mirror: 'It's pretty surreal to join EastEnders - it keeps hitting me that I'm actually on Albert Square. 'Oscar is so much fun to play, and the audience should be prepared for the unexpected as he's a complex guy!' Meanwhile executive producer Ben Wadey gushed: 'I'm very excited to bring Oscar Branning back to Walford and introduce viewers to him now that he's all grown up.' Ben promised plenty of drama as he brings Oscar's character back to life for viewers. But Oscar's character is not the only one to be making a comeback, actor Jake Wood is also set to reprise his role as Max Branning later this year. His return comes a year after he celebrated being sober for over 20 years in December 2023. The actor, 52, opened up about his past struggles with alcohol as he filmed himself from his hot tub while reflecting on life. The soap star wore a woolly hat as he enjoyed a cigar while sending an inspirational message to his followers. Posting on Twitter, he said: 'So I'm sat here in a hot tub, having a cigar, it's pretty cool. 'And just reflecting on how grateful I am for all the amazing things I've got in my life. I've got an amazing family, beautiful family, fantastic friends. Everyone is happy and healthy. 'Also, and I don't really talk about this often, I just want to say that tonight I'm 20 years sober. [I] stopped drinking 20 years ago tonight and that changed my life in so many ways. 'It's immeasurable. So anyone on the same journey, I send you love and support, and if anyone's struggling there's help out there, alright?' He signed off by saying: 'You can do it. Love you guys. Happy New Year.' Jake captioned the post: 'I am 20 years sober tonight. So proud of myself and for anyone out there on a similar journey. 'If you are struggling there is help out there, please reach out and believe me if I did it you can too. Sending you all love & strength and a happy and healthy 2024.' Jake was inundated with support from friends and fans, including some of his former co-stars. Musician Nitin Sawhney wrote: 'Congratulations and have a great new year, Jake.' Danny Robbins, writer of West End production 2:22 A Ghost Story which Jake Wood has starred in, penned: 'Well done Jake. Great achievement. Happy New Year. See you soon x'.

Kneecap's Glastonbury performance not ‘appropriate', says Keir Starmer
Kneecap's Glastonbury festival performance next Saturday is not 'appropriate', Keir Starmer has said. Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh appeared in court on Wednesday after allegedly displaying a flag in support of the proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah and saying 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah' at a gig in November last year. In an interview with the Sun, the prime minister was asked if he thought the trio should perform at Glastonbury. 'No, I don't, and I think we need to come down really clearly on this,' Starmer said. 'This is about the threats that shouldn't be made, I won't say too much because there's a court case on, but I don't think that's appropriate.' Earlier on Saturday the Conservative party leader, Kemi Badenoch, said she thought the BBC 'should not be showing' Kneecap's performance at the festival. In a post on X, accompanied by an article from he Times that claimed the BBC had not banned the group, Badenoch said: 'The BBC should not be showing Kneecap propaganda. One Kneecap band member is currently on bail, charged under the Terrorism Act. 'As a publicly funded platform, the BBC should not be rewarding extremism.' Badenoch previously called for the group to be banned from Glastonbury. Last year Kneecap won a discrimination case against the UK government in Belfast high court after Badenoch tried to refuse them a £14,250 funding award when she was a minister in the previous government. A BBC spokesperson said: 'As the broadcast partner, the BBC will be bringing audiences extensive music coverage from Glastonbury, with artists booked by the festival organisers. 'Whilst the BBC doesn't ban artists, our plans will ensure that our programming will meet our editorial guidelines. Decisions about our output will be made in the lead-up to the festival.' On Wednesday, Ó hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, was cheered by hundreds of supporters as he arrived with bandmates Naoise O Cairealláin and JJ Ó Dochartaigh at Westminster magistrates court in 'Free Mo Chara' T-shirts. Ó hAnnaidh was released on unconditional bail until his next hearing on 20 August. After the hearing, the rapper said: 'For anybody going to Glastonbury, you can see us there at 4pm on the Saturday. 'If you can't be there we'll be on the BBC, if anybody watches the BBC. We'll be at Wembley in September. 'But most importantly: free, free Palestine.' The charge followed a counter-terrorism police investigation after gig footage came to light, which also allegedly showed the group calling for the deaths of MPs. In April, Kneecap apologised to the families of murdered MPs but said footage of the incident had been 'exploited and weaponised'.

Stephen Mulhern's £1m Butlin's role axed in latest career blow for ITV star
Former Butlin's redcoat Stephen Mulhern has lost his lucrative £1m contract with the famous holiday firm. ITV star Stephen Mulhern has been dealt a huge career blow. The presenter has been dropped from his reported £1million gig as the face of Butlins, rounding off a spate of ill fortune with work commitments. Mulhern, 48, hasn't had his contract renewed with the famous family-friendly UK holiday resort chain. As part of the deal he performed magic shows on stage at the firm's centres in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness, but he will not return after the summer season. A spokesperson confirmed the news and stated that the star, a former redcoat for the legendary firm, had 'enjoyed' his time working with the brand. The spokesperson told the Mirror: 'Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlin's family - performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlin's remains hugely positive. "This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he's incredibly passionate about." A Butlin's spokesperson added: "Stephen has been an incredible part of the Butlin's experience and continues to be a valued member of the family. Stephen's much-loved live show won't return in 2026 after three fantastic years, but we're thrilled to be working together on ongoing projects this autumn.' Stephen's Butlin's axe was revealed by the Sun, as a source told them: 'Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers. He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.' The TV magician's role on ITV Dancing On Ice came to an end earlier this year when the show was cancelled. The reality ice skating competition was cancelled due to low ratings, after Stephen had joined Holly Willoughby to host in January. He replaced Phillip Schofield, who was booted from all of his ITV roles after his affair with a younger colleague at This Morning was revealed in 2023. And last year, Stephen's other TV show, In For A Penny, was cancelled after six seasons , though there have been hinted it will return. A source previously told The Sun: "So don't put your pennies away just yet as the team could be popping up in your local town, to challenge even more members of the public to take part in their unique and madcap games in the future." Stephen also suffered a traumatic time in his personal life last year when his dad passed away. Stephen paid tribute to his late father in a touching moment after his Royal Variety Performance act last December. As the audience applauded his magic tricks, he said: "That was for you dad." The TV host continues to front ITV's Deal for No Deal which was revived in 2023. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
