'I tried Urban Decay's new setting spray perfect for summer'

Daily Mirror10-05-2025

I've been using the original All Nighter setting spray for over a decade, so I couldn't wait to try the new watermelon version
Urban Decay has launched a brand-new setting spray in time for summer that will ensure the face stays hydrated and makeup remains in place no matter how warm the weather gets. I am a big fan of the brand's original All Nighter Setting Spray, which I have used for over a decade, as it is the only product that makes my makeup last from morning until night without the need for touch-ups.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on Urban Decay's new All Nighter Hyaluronic Setting Spray to see how it would compare to the original. The product contains a blend of hyaluronic acid and watermelon extract that refreshes makeup with a hydrating spritz of moisture and provides a dewy finish. The brand says the setting spray 'encourages a plumper, bouncier appearance' and 'protects makeup against smudging or transferring for improved longevity'.
Urban Decay's Hyaluronic Setting Spray costs £29 at LookFantastic, so is the same price as the popular MAC Fix + Setting Spray that's available at Boots. The MAC spray also hydrates, primes, sets and refreshes makeup, with the alcohol-free formula featuring vitamins and minerals, green tea, chamomile and cucumber extracts.
Beauty fans looking for a more budget-friendly alternative may be interested in the e.l.f Power Grip Dewy Setting Spray. Costing £10 at Superdrug, this fine mist provides 'major makeup grip' and also gives the skin a dewy finish.
After applying my makeup at 8am in the morning, it was time to put Urban Decay's Hyaluronic Setting Spray to the test. I spritzed it all over my face and the first thing I noticed was the delicious watermelon fragrance which is perfect for summer, as it's super refreshing and reminds me of sunny days.
The mist is finer than the original All Nighter Setting Spray which I expected, as it's described as being a lightweight formula. I felt I needed to apply more spritzes when compared to the original to ensure my whole face was covered, but within seconds it had completely absorbed. The Hyaluronic Setting Spray gave my skin a gorgeous dewy finish that really made the highlighter on my cheekbones, nose, cupid's bow and inner eyes pop.
When I came to take my makeup off at 9pm that night, my makeup looked as fresh as it did in the morning, with my highlighter still gleaming and the few blemishes I had were still hidden. I did have to reapply my lipstick after eating which is normal, as no setting spray has ever kept my lippie on. I sometimes need to reapply powder on the shiny parts of my face, especially on hot days, but I didn't need to do any touch-ups thanks to the setting spray.
I've used Urban Decay's Hyaluronic Setting Spray several times since my first trial, including on bare skin when my face has required some much-needed hydration and cooling on hot days. It provided instant relief and gave my natural skin a lovely refreshed look.
The only downside to the product is that, because I need to use several spritzes each time to feel like my face is completely covered, the bottle probably won't last me as long as the original All Nighter does. I'll still be reaching for the original when I want a more matte finish, however I have no doubt the Hyaluronic Setting Spray will be my go-to face mist throughout summer to keep my skin feeling hydrated and my makeup looking pristine with a stunning dewy finish.

Fake tan that 'doesn't stain sheets' or 'go patchy' slashed to just £9 on Amazon

Amazon shoppers who have left glowing reviews for the best-selling fake tan product - and it's currently on sale Beauty enthusiasts are rushing to purchase a fake tan product that "ticks every box" and fulfils all the bronzing needs of those yearning for a sun-kissed glow just in time for summer. Bondi Sands' Liquid Gold Self Tanning Foam not only delivers a streak-free, uniform tan but also offers the benefit of being a no-rinse formula that doesn't stain white bed linen. Adding to its appeal, the tan is currently enjoying a significant price reduction. Typically retailing at £17.49 per bottle, Amazon has slashed the price by an impressive 44 per cent, offering it for just £9.74 for a limited time. If you're price comparing, this deal trumps the discounted prices currently available at Boots and Superdrug, and even includes free next-day delivery for Prime members. Over at Boots, Bondi Sands' Liquid Gold is priced at £11.66, while Superdrug has it marked at £11.65 for members. Bondi Sands' Liquid Gold Self Tanning Foam promises an 'Aussie tan in no time', developing within two to three hours without the need for rinsing. It dries rapidly, leaving skin with a radiant bronze glow. According to Manchester Evening News, its clear, non-transferable foam formula enriched with Argan oil leaves skin feeling luxuriously soft, and it features a coconut scent that shoppers describe as 'not overpowering'. Elsewhere, Coco & Eve's highly-rated Sunny Honey Gradual Tanning Lotion is currently £18.75 at Boots, down from its £25 RRP. Or if you want a darker tan that takes hold quickly, LookFantastic have the Loving Tan 2HR Express Mousse for £29.56, down from £36.95. Garnering an outstanding overall rating of 4.7 out of five stars from more than 200 reviews, customers are thoroughly impressed with this product. One satisfied customer shared: "I've been using this for ages now. Lovely colour, doesn't go streaky or patchy. Fades nicely. No overpowering smell and because it's clear, my bedsheets are still white." Another reviewer sang the product's praises: "I love this tan. I've tried nearly every tan out there and this is one of my favourites, it never goes patchy or streaky. It always looks natural and lasts longer than most tans I've used." A separate customer had a similarly positive experience, commenting: "Really good quality! Lasted me about a week without going patchy after showering several times too! You do have to re-apply it every week! But a lot better than some of the tans I've used!" Another enthusiastic user was thrilled with their results stating: "This product shocked me as the guide colour was very pale. Was worried it wouldn't show up. After about 4 or 5 hours the colour got nice and dark. Pleasantly surprised it didn't stain white sheets." Not everyone was entirely persuaded, with a critic noting: "So, first thing to address is the scent when you put it on, it is pleasant. It is very light in colour and really spreadable, which is good. "The colour starts to develop quickly but I barely noticed due to the lack of orange pigment, great. Could be darker, but seems buildable. Following on from developed colour (pre washing) I smell like biscuits, *but* fresh ones, not bad in my opinion. Only complaint is my hands smell like damp wicker, or pencils, if you know, you know." Should you be seeking a sun-kissed glow during the heatwave, the Bondi Sands mousse might just hit the mark. For those desiring a richer hue, we also recommend the Loving Tan's Deluxe Bronzing Mousse, currently on offer at £22.37. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Save 25% on Lancôme's new coffee-inspired Juicy Tubes

One of the Noughties' most iconic make-up products, Lancôme Juicy Tubes, are back with three lip-smacking new shades – and you can currently find them on offer, too Along with flip phones, low-rise jeans and Myspace, some items were iconic in 2000s pop culture – and that includes Lancôme's Juicy Tubes, clear tubes of lightly tinted, fruity-flavoured lip gloss that were the ultimate in any make-up bag. Now, with the current obsession with everything Y2K, they're firmly back in fashion again, and available in three tasty new flavours. Lancôme has recently launched three new coffee-inspired shades: Almond Drip, a mid brown with gold shimmer and a scent of roasted almonds, Cocoa Macchiato, a rich brown with a hint of pink and a cocoa flavour, and Lavender Latte, a pretty lilac that's also Olivia Rodrigo's go-to shade. Usually priced at £26 each, you can currently find these new variations with 25% off at Debenhams, down to £19.50. Promising up to four hours of moisture, visibly plumper lips and an easy-to-use applicator, the resurge in the popularity of Lancôme Juicy Tubes might have something to do with how lip balms are fashion accessories in their own right nowadays; Rhode Peptide Lip Tints, £18, and Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balms, £23, are both hugely popular, and Dior's new Lip Glow Butters, £33, with their cute charms, look set to have same mass appeal. If you need any more convincing to add a Juicy Tube back into your make-up routine, iconic actors from the 00s have also been sharing how they loved – and still love – the product. In sponsored posts on their Instagram accounts, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson, who played Marisa Cooper and Summer Roberts respectively in the hit teen drama The OC, share their go-to flavours, and their favourite Juicy Tube moment. "There's something about the scent that makes me really nostalgic and takes me back to the early 2000s," Mischa says in her post, remembering who she wore the product when, in season one of The OC, Marisa and Ryan finally kiss on the fairground ferris wheel. "My two favourites were always Spring Fling and Marshmallow Electro," she adds. Rachel Bilson, meanwhile, says on her account how she favours the rose shade Tickled Pink, sharing how it instantly reminds her of when she won the Teen Choice Award for Best Chemistry in 2005. Although all three of the new latte shades are still available – and reduced – on Debenhams, most of the other core shades are currently out of stock – however, you can find them all available on the Lancôme website, and you might also be able to find your chosen colour on Sephora or Boots. If your budget doesn't quite stretch to this, you'll find lots of other affordable lip balms in the shops, including Boots Glossy Lip Balms, a bargain at just £3 each.

A £12 peel-off lip stain I used for Ascot stayed put for ten hours

Head of beauty Zoe put Boots' viral lip liner stain to the test at Royal Ascot, and was left very impressed by the results... One beauty trend that I definitely think is here to stay is lip tinting. Gone are the days when you'd apply lipstick and have to spend the rest of the day touching it up in a mirror. We've entered an era of long-lasting tints that promise colour for hours on end, with no need to reapply. I was first introduced to them (a little late, admittedly) when I tuned into Love Island All Stars last year, when Elma Pazar was in the villa. I spotted her peeling off a lip formula and immediately needed to know what it was. As it turned out, it was Sacheu's now-viral STAY-N Lip Liner, £12. Stocked at Boots, this long-wear lip liner keeps your lips in line all day and night. Infused with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E for conditioning benefits, it also cares for your lips while it's working its magic. You could blend it slightly to get a full lip tint, but I like the way Elma applied it in the morning while she's doing the rest of her make-up before peeling it off ten minutes or so later to reveal perfectly lined lips that lasted her most of the day while she was lounging around the pool. I also spotted Elma applying it before bed so that her lips were lined with a kiss-proof colour before the lights go out. Anyway, consider me converted because I placed a Boots order as soon as I discovered it was this £12 buy she was using, and I've used it weekly ever since. I don't use it every day, because sometimes the setting and peeling off process feels like too much admin for me on a no-makeup day, but any time I want a lip look that will last me longer than an hour, I pull it out of my make-up bag. Case in point: this week, I needed a lip look to see me through a day at Royal Ascot. I knew the toilet queues would be long, so I wanted to make sure my lip colour was as low-maintenance as possible. I applied the shade P-inked at 9am before leaving, and amazingly, when I took a final selfie at 5pm, it was still in tact. You can actually see from my before and after how well the Stay-n Liner worked. I only used it on the borders of my lips as a liner, and used a regular lipstick to fill the centre of my pout. While the middle of my lips rubbed off relatively quickly, the tinted borders remained, dare I say, flawless. All-in-all, the tint lasted about ten hours before it began to fade. If you think you'll use the lip liner stain as often as I do, I seriously recommend taking a look at the pack of three bundle you can pick up from Amazon for £30. You save £6 off the price of buying them individually, and it means you have a choice of shades for all events this summer. If you're looking for another long-lasting stain option, our shopping writer Meghan also swears by Wonderskin's Wonderblading Lip Masque, £18 in a whole host of shades.
