Turkey teeth bender blunder as Brit arrested and stranded over 'stupid mistake'

"I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter."
A British woman was thrown in a Turkish jail cell after trashing a hotel room during a drunken bender to celebrate the new teeth her boyfriend had got in the country.
Georgia Harrison and Arron Tighe celebrated his new £2,000 smile by knocking back drinks in Antalya, Turkey, while on a week-long trip to the city.

But four days in the 32-year-olds, from Rochdale, sobered up, and discovered they had smashed their shower to pieces while drunk, according to The Mirror.

They attempted to leg it to the airport in a cab, only to be nicked as they tried fleeing the Lexia Hotel. Georgia, who cleans for a living, reckons she made 'the worst mistake of my life' that evening by mixing her drink with antipsychotic meds.
That caused her to lose consciousness and and 'throw things around' in the room, shattering a full length glass bathroom screen, reports the Daily Star.

Chatting with MailOnline, she confessed: 'It's driving me insane, I feel like I have got no way out of here. I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter.
"I just feel so weak and I'm getting nowhere, it's killing me. I understand I have done wrong but I'm not a bank robber or a drug smuggler - I made a stupid mistake, I don't even remember doing it, but I have done all I can to fix it."
After their arrest, they allege they were detained in a police cell for days, interrogated without legal representation, and accused of resisting arrest because she wouldn't respond to questions.

Subsequently, they were dragged before a judge and prohibited from leaving the country until they settle a £15,000 bill with the hotel. In dire straits, they reached out to the British Embassy.
Staff were unable to lift the travel ban and it was suggested they seek legal counsel. They forked out £2,500 for a lawyer who vowed to resolve the issue, yet six weeks on, they remain stranded in Turkey, unable to depart.

Georgia, a mother to 12-year-old Poppy, is distraught as her daughter repeatedly phones to enquire when she'll return home, prompting Georgia to initiate a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs so she can fly back.
She expressed her anguish: "It's heartbreaking, she doesn't understand why I can't come home. Sometimes I think I'm never going to get back to her."
On her GoFundMe page, Georgia penned: "I feel so ashamed writing this but my daughter needs me and this is my only hope. I feel like giving up but that's not me, yet I also feel so lucky to be alive.
"I put all faith in my lawyer giving him my power of attorney but l'm getting nowhere. I'm losing everything slowly, even my will to live. I just need to get home to my baby and my dog.
"I don't understand how such a stupid mistake has led me here. It is illegal for them to keep me here and I've no option but to start telling my story."

Judge Paul Matthews urged them to settle their dispute by mediation before drawing on Vardy vs Rooney judge Mrs Justice Steyn's verdict. He said he was allowed to draw an inference about a participant if they had failed to provide documents which should have been disclosed. In his judgment, he noted: 'Steyn J applied the principle in the case of Vardy v Rooney (2022) where an order was made for the inspection of the telephone of the claimant's witness, but the phone was allegedly lost overboard whilst on a boat trip a few days later.' He was released on bail following his initial arrest but was caught delivering cannabis again almost a year later. Shakr Hamad, 30, was stopped by police driving a Ford Focus in Cardiff on April 10 last year after they could smell cannabis emanating from his car. Prosecutor Sol Hartley said Hamad was working as a drugs runner for an organised crime group who was directed to deliver cannabis to various addresses in Cardiff. The defendant was released on bail but on March 15 this year he was stopped by police in Llansannor Way, Butetown, after he was seen interacting with a man from inside his BMW. Article continues below The vehicle was searched and a black rucksack was found to contain 30 snap bags of cannabis worth up to £1,700, £525 in cash and a knuckleduster. His phone was seized and Hamad was found to be a member of a Whats App group with several other people who were working as drugs runners. During his police interview, the defendant became agitated and began punching himself in the head. ‌ Hamad, of Rhymney Street, Cathays, later pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, possession of criminal property, possession of an offensive weapon and driving whilst disqualified. The court heard he has one previous conviction for motoring offences, for which he was disqualified from driving. In mitigation, Harry Baker said his client had made an asylum application to remain in the UK, which had been unsuccessful, but he has since made another application. Article continues below Judge Paul Hobson sentenced Hamad to 18 months imprisonment and disqualified him from driving for 18 months. The judge told the defendant steps may be taken to deport him, but this decision would be made by the Home Office.
