On his mother's fifth death anniversary, Ali Fazal penned a touching note for his mother, saying that he fears this day every June.
On June 17, actor Ali Fazal marked five years since the passing of his mother with a heartfelt post on Instagram. The Mirzapur star shared that the day not only reminds him of the deep personal loss he experienced in 2020 but also feels like the day he lost a part of his younger self. Posting a series of throwback pictures with his mother, Ali reflected on grief, healing, and the mysterious ways in which life continues to evolve. He wrote about bidding farewell to 'two people" that day—his mother and the version of himself that existed before her death.
He added, 'I put this because, as a mere mortal, I dread this day every June because of my loss. It's mine. So I stop to think and contemplate. – As if I could pause and analyse this moment and then transport to a spot within the head of, say, any one person in some part of the world (we all know where) who, on a Friday afternoon, sits in complete dread for the entire month of June, which has strangely lasted maybe two years? 20-200, and bang, this person loses his entire family just like that for theatrical effect, let's call it 'in a flash'."
Ali continued, 'I'm like a fly on that wall, and like most of us on social media today, we've seen it all. Then, miraculously, I returned to where I had pushed pause (remember?). Now, my sense of loss has doubled with an empathy of a universal kind. Or is there too much hands-on experience of loss that should reduce the impact of what is considered mine?"
He concluded the post by saying, 'Or am I told 'hey dude, don't take the world's guilt upon yourself' Naah i don't buy any of it. I should shut up and carry on moving mountains. Am I though? Are you? We both could though."
On the work front, Ali will be next seen in Anurag Basu's Metro…In Dino, which will release on July 4. The film also features Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi and Konkona Sen Sharma in the leads.
