Amsterdam District Court ruled that Promes was involved in the import and export of hundreds of kilograms (pounds) of cocaine in 2020. His lawyers told judges he denied the allegations.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers seized cocaine, methamphetamine and weapons from a residence and property on Hanesville Road in South Dundas Township. (Ontario Provincial Police/release) Two people are facing charges after police seized 2.5-grams of suspected cocaine, over 50 codeine tablets and weapons in South Dundas Township. The Ontario Provincial Police launched an investigation in March into drug trafficking in the area. Police say officers executed a search warrant at a residence and a property on Hanesville Road on Thursday. 'Officers seized nearly 2.5-grams of suspected cocaine, more than nine grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, more than 100 suspected methamphetamine (speed) tablets and over 50 codeine tablets,' the OPP said. 'Officers also seized a 22-calibre rifle, various types of ammunition, a crossbow and arrows, as well as items typically associated with drug trafficking.' A 37-year-old man is facing two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and one count each of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and obstructing a peace officer. A 60-year-old man is charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and obstructing a peace officer. Police say the investigation continues, and additional arrests are anticipated.
