Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sohail Khan turned down Main Hoon Na, recalls Zayed Khan: ‘Shah Rukh Khan asked if I can act'
Main Hoon Na (2004) is one of the most loved and appreciated films from Shah Rukh Khan's filmography. Farah Khan made her directorial debut with it, and reportedly the duo were struggling to find a second lead until they zeroed in on actor Zayed Khan, who ended up playing Shah Rukh's brother Lucky or Laxman in the film. In a recent interview Zayed talked about the process of getting cast in the film and how he felt working alongside one of his acting heroes.
While talking to Siddharth Kannan on his podcast, Zayed revealed that getting cast for the film was an out-of-the-blue development and he wasn't even aware that he was in the running for the role. He shared, 'So the role was initially offered to Hrithik Roshan, then it went to Sohail Khan, and then finally it was given to Abhishek Bachchan. But somehow things didn't work out with any of these actors.' He continued and said that one day he called Farah because he wanted her help with the choreography of a song he was shooting. Before he could finish his sentence, Farah told him to come to her office.

Upon reaching, however, Zayed realised that this was not Farah's office, as all the walls were adorned with pictures of Shah Rukh. He shared that 'Farah came into the office, and I asked her whether she was going to help me with the song. She instantly told me to 'shut up' and said that Shah Rukh wanted to talk to me. Shah Rukh came in with his charm and aura and told me, 'Don't listen to what she is saying; we have called you over because we are considering you for a role.' Zayed was completely baffled listening to this and proceeded to give an impromptu audition right there, after which Farah walked out of the office without saying a single word.
'Before driving off, she looked at me from inside her car and said, 'Send me your measurements; you are in my movie,' and I remember being so excited that I hugged a tree,' added Zayed. After landing the role, the actor shared that the battle was still half won; he said that he was immensely grateful for the opportunity but was being constantly bogged down by people who kept giving him unsolicited advice. He said, 'I was just concerned with the fact that I got a chance to work with these people. I shut off a lot of people who would tell me that Shah Rukh will take more screen time and would tell me how to act.'

On the contrary, Zayed shared that Shah Rukh was anything but a problem and helped the actor give his best performance on set. He shared an anecdote about the iconic scene where Laxman and his mother (played by Kirron Kher) discover Ram's (Shah Rukh) true identity. 'I struggled in the scene where I am supposed to diss my father. So Shah Rukh took me to the side and asked me whether I would like to rehearse the scene. He took me to his room, and we rehearsed the scene, and once we shot the scene, there was pin-drop silence after the director called cut. People started clapping, and that was such a euphoric moment for me as an actor.'
Main Hoon Na was extremely successful at the box office and went on to become one of Zayed's most iconic roles. Directed by Farah Khan, the cast of the film included Shah Rukh, Zayed, Kirron Kher, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, Suniel Shetty, Boman Irani, and Kabir Bedi.

Meet actress who faced poverty, worked for Rs 50, ate food from dustbins, today leads lavish life, owns a house in Dubai, her name is...
In a world where social media noise fades fast, some voices cut through the clutter—louder, sharper, impossible to ignore. One such voice is Rakhi Sawant. You may roll your eyes, laugh, or even cringe—but you're still watching. And behind all the drama is a journey far more raw, real, and ruthless than what you see on your feed. You won't believe it, but the woman dominating every headline today once worked as a waitress at weddings, for just Rs 50 a day. Rakhi's early life was defined by crushing poverty. She's openly admitted to going hungry for days, and worse—eating leftover food picked from garbage bins just to survive. But this wasn't just about staying alive. It was the making of someone unbreakable. There was shame, too. After dancing at a local dandiya night, her own mother chopped off her long hair as punishment, meant to humiliate her. Instead, it only hardened her resolve. In the film world, she was typecast and rejected repeatedly. From background dancer to blink-and-miss roles, she clawed her way into the spotlight with songs like Pardesiya and a cameo in Main Hoon Na. When Bollywood stopped calling, she rebranded herself for reality TV—and the audience couldn't look away. Bigg Boss changed everything. Rakhi, raw and real, became a phenomenon. The tears, the fights, the one-liners—everything went viral. And suddenly, she wasn't just another starlet. She was entertainment itself. Today, Rakhi is worth over Rs 41 crore. She owns a home in Dubai. And she did it all without a godfather, mentor, or sugar-coated PR campaign—just grit, guts, and her unfiltered self. Rakhi Sawant is not just a name anymore. She's a reminder that chaos, when owned loudly enough, can become currency.

Exclusive - Dipshikkha Nagppal on why she swears by the practice: Yoga keeps me grounded and glowing
For actress Dipshikkha Nagppal, yoga isn't just a fitness routine—it's a spiritual discipline and a non-negotiable part of her daily life. While the actress also hits the gym, does Pilates, and loves experimenting with strength-based workouts, yoga remains her foundation for both physical and emotional well-being. 'Yoga has been my anchor,' says Dipshikkha. 'Even on packed shoot days, I try to squeeze in at least 20 minutes of practice. It keeps me calm, centered, and energetic—something that gym or Pilates alone can't give me.' Her journey with yoga began early, and it wasn't just a passing phase. 'In my boarding days, we were taught all the different types of yoga asanas, and I developed the habit back then. Since 4th standard, I have been doing yoga regularly,' she shares. It's this consistency over the years that has made yoga second nature to her. Despite a tight schedule that includes long hours on sets, she has found a way to blend multiple workout forms without compromising her commitment to yoga. She balances her routine smartly—reserving gym and Pilates sessions for alternate days while beginning most mornings with pranayama and light stretches. 'Yoga doesn't give overnight results—it works slowly, but the effects are deep and long-lasting,' she admits. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Laxmi Ji Idol For Wealth, Peace & Happiness Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo 'It's about alignment, awareness, and inner strength. Once you start feeling that shift mentally, your body begins to follow.' Before heading to set, Dipshikkha makes it a point to practice Anulom Vilom and Bhramari Pranayama. 'Just a few minutes of breathing can change your whole approach to the day. It clears my head and helps me stay patient and focused while shooting.' Physically too, yoga has made a significant impact. 'It has improved my flexibility, posture, and even my digestion,' she adds. But the real magic, she insists, lies in the peace it brings. 'My mental health has definitely improved and I feel more in tune with myself.' Her go-to posture to stay fit? 'I love Trikonasana (triangle pose) and Vrikshasana (tree pose). They look simple but engage the entire body and mind.' On International Yoga Day, Dipshikkha has a simple message: 'Yoga isn't about bending into crazy poses—it's about bending toward a better version of yourself. Even if it's just ten minutes a day, show up for yourself. That's where transformation begins.' Deepshikha Nagpal Breaks Silence on 'Koyla' Scene Controversy

Trouble at Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat? Superstar's manager reacts to illegal construction reports after BMC's inspection
Reports about alleged illegal construction work at Shah Rukh Khan's Mumbai bungalow Mannat are doing rounds on the internet. The Bollywood superstar is currently living in a Pali Hill apartment with his family as renovation work is going on at Mannat. Recently an activist complained about illegal construction work at Mannat, following which a team of BMC and forest department officials visited the site. Amid this, a report by Times of India suggested that the authorities reached the rise to check for alleged violations. Mannat is a Grade III heritage structure, consisting of a heritage bungalow and a multi-storey annex. Reportedly, the team of officials arrived for inspection and met Shah Rukh Khan's staff. It is said that they assured the authorities that all necessary renovation permits and supporting documents would be submitted. Amid this, Shah Rukh's manager Pooja Dadlani reacted to the claims of illegal activities at the site. She told TOI, "There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines." On the other hand, a forest department official shared with the news outlet, "A team did carry out a site inspection as we received a complaint about renovation permissions. A report will be prepared based on the findings and submitted soon." In fact, it is claimed that BMC authorities who reached Mannat were just to support the forest officers. The controversy began when social activist Santosh Daundkar accused Shah Rukh Khan and the Maharashtra authority over clearances for renovations in Mannat, as per Bar & Bench. Santosh appealed to the NGT against Shah Rukh and the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), alleging violations in securing the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). He also claimed that the actor committed fraud by merging twelve 1-BHK flats meant for mass housing into one home for a single family. Shah Rukh Khan moved into Mannat with his family in 2001. The property was originally called Villa Vienna. In the same year, it was bought by Shah Rukh. He has been living in Mannat with his wife Gauri Khan, and their kids-- Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.
