Moritz Seider To Captain Germany At Worlds
Germany's initial 25-man roster for the 2025 IIHF World Championship includes three players who played in the NHL this season and three others who are currently under contract to NHL teams.
The captain of the team is Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider. The alternates are Jonas Müller, Marc Michaelis and Dominik Kahun.
'It's obviously an absolute honor for me to hold this position, and it fills me with great pride,' said Seider. 'I'll also be following in big footsteps and I'm counting on the support of the others in the locker room. We're really looking forward to the World Championship because we're in a good group and we're optimistic about the tournament.'
Besides NHLers Seider, Philipp Grubauer and Lukas Reichel, AHLer Maksymilian Szuber and Kahun, who plays in Switzerland, the remainder of the roster comes from the domestic DEL. That includes seven from champion Eisbären Berlin, four from Red Bull Munich and three each from Adler Mannheim and ERC Ingolstadt.
Goaltenders: Mathias Niederberger (Red Bull Munich), Arno Tiefensee (Adler Mannheim / Dallas Stars), Philipp Grubauer (Seattle Kraken).

He is also one of the older players in the draft, and his maturity may make him an instant plug-and-play type of player. Walter Clayton Jr, G Florida Walter Clayton Jr, fresh off the Florida Gators' national championship run, is another intriguing prospect that the Mavericks could target late in the first round. He is a 6-3 guard who can score at will, but also can facilitate the offense. He will do whatever is necessary for the team to win. He is a guard who could contribute and fit what the Mavericks need right away as someone to facilitate the offense, but occasionally knock down shots if needed. The Dallas Mavericks' offense last season, especially after the injury to Kyrie Irving, looked very stagnant at times. Blackhawks acquire Andre Burakovsky from Kraken in exchange for fellow forward Joe Veleno
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks acquired Andre Burakovsky from the Seattle Kraken on Saturday in exchange for fellow forward Joe Veleno. Chicago also placed defenseman T.J. Brodie on unconditional waivers for purposes for buying out his contract. Burakovsky, 30, had 10 goals and 27 assists in 79 games with Seattle last season. A Stanley Cup champion with Washington in 2018 and Colorado in 2022, he has 153 goals and 234 assists in 696 regular-season games over 11 NHL seasons. The acquisition of Burakovsky gives Chicago some additional size and scoring, and the trade creates more flexibility for Seattle with the salary cap. The 6-foot-3 Burakovsky was selected by Washington with the No. 23 pick in the 2013 draft. He signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract with Seattle in July 2022. Veleno, 25, was traded from Detroit to Chicago in March. He finished with eight goals and nine assists in 74 games last season. The 6-1 Veleno has 38 goals and 43 assists in 306 career regular-season games. He has a cap hit of $2.275 million for next season in the final year of his contract.
