Chatham County Police reminds public of golf cart rules
CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Officials are reminding folks of the rules of the road when it comes to golf carts in unincorporated Chatham County.
Golf carts may only be operated on public roadways in communities approved by the county. Only the Landings, Isle of Hope, Burnside Island and Bradley Point Road are approved communities, the official said.
If you are in a designated area, there are still rules that have to be followed.
To operate a golf cart, you must have a valid driver's license, and owners must carry liability insurance or homeowner's insurance with a rider that provides coverage for the golf cart.
Golf carts can also only drive on streets where the posted speed limit is 25 mph or below and golf cart speeds can't exceed 25 mph.
Even in approved areas, golf carts cannot be operated after 9 p.m.
Golf carts must also be equipped with the following safety features:
Power switch
Brakes
Horn
Back-up warning system
Rear window mirror
Headlights and taillights
Turn signal
Seat belt hip restraints
Golf cart owners and operators are encouraged to review the Chatham County ordinance detailing the use of motorized carts by visiting the county code by found on the Chatham County website, officials said.

LONG POND, Pa. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. might already be NASCAR's most popular crew chief. He's certainly an undefeated one. Pressed into unexpected service, Earnhardt called the shots for 18-year-old prospect Connor Zilisch in the No. 88 Chevrolet and they landed in victory lane Saturday in the second-tier Xfinity Series race at Pocono Raceway. Earnhardt even pitched in during the race and tossed tires over the wall during pit stops. 'Midway through the race man, I was feeling it,' Earnhardt said. Zilisch took the win down to the wire and finally passed Jesse Love with five laps left in the race. Love finished second. 'Dale Junior, not too bad on the box,' Zilisch said. 'Pretty cool to have him up there. Getting him a 1-for-1 win as crew chief is pretty awesome.' Even with the victory, it just might be one-and-done on the pit box for Earnhardt. I-35 reopens after deadly crash in Northland
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Interstate 35 has reopened in Kansas City's Northland after a deadly crash early Monday morning. Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers confirmed a fatal crash on southbound I-35 at Pleasant Valley Road. The highway patrol says that the crash involves a motorcycle and several other 'minor crashes.' MSHP said the person driving the motorcycle lost control and was thrown from the bike. The victim died at the scene. After the initial crash, the motorcycle was struck by a semi-truck, which left the scene, according to troopers. Traffic is being diverted off to Pleasant Valley Road, the highway patrol said. The highway patrol asks drivers to avoid the area if possible. Troopers are asking drivers to use I-435 and MO-152 as alternate routes. MSHP encourages anyone who saw the crash to call 816-622-0800. This is a developing story. Hazmat spill on I-205 North causes delays after crash
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A crash involving a tractor trailer and a box truck caused a hazmat spill, closing all lanes of traffic on a section of I-205 N Thursday afternoon, authorities said. At 4:45 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a section of the highway between Burnside and Glisan, finding a barrel on the box truck was punctured and leaking 'unknown liquid' onto the road. The Hazardous Materials team was then called to the scene to identify the liquid. Officials said they found it was an 'acidic cleaning liquid' which was safely picked up using absorbent pellets, then discarded. All northbound lanes of I-205 were taken off the freeway and diverted around the location of the crash.
