From Dh285,000 Ford's beloved pony car has been a popular choice in the UAE for the past three decades, but the latest iteration is far and away the best version to date. The recently released seventh-generation Mustang GT carries over a brawny 5.0-litre V8, but outputs have been ramped up to 486hp and 566Nm. Previous Mustangs were not renowned for their agility or dynamics, but MagneRide adaptive suspension and Brembo brakes are part of a recipe that makes the newbie a genuinely fast and rewarding car to drive. A 405hp/475Nm twin-turbo V6 catapults it from 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds, with drive sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or nine-speed auto. The rear-wheel-drive chassis is an evolution of the former 370Z's underpinnings, but it has been stiffened for added cornering grip and dynamism. Its 2.4-litre turbo engine thumps out 271hp and 350Nm, propelling the mundane-looking sedan from 0-100kph in 6.0 seconds, and on to a top speed of 250kph. Two transmissions are offered – a six-speed manual and a CVT, and we would recommend the former. Belying its nondescript styling, the WRX is surprisingly rapid on tarmac or gravel roads, with its all-wheel-drive chassis providing limpet-like grip in wet or dry conditions. From Dh157,000 The Supra debuted in 1978, but the latest generation stands apart from its predecessors since its core architecture – engine, transmission and chassis – are shared with BMW's Z4. This is no bad thing as the latter is a solidly engineered roadster with sparkling handling and performance. Unlike its topless German counterpart, the Toyota is a fixed-roof coupe, so the driving experience is markedly different. Striking styling means the 387hp Supra has plenty of wow factor, but its appeal is more than skin deep – it is fast, taut and engaging in equal measure. From Dh229,900 The Golf GTI has been the definitive 'hot-hatch' ever since the first-gen model took the world by storm in 1976. The current eighth-generation GTI has the essence of its 49-year-old ancestor, serving up scintillating performance at a bargain price. Outputs of 265hp and 370Nm deliver a brisk 5.9-second 0-100kph sprint, yet the GTI offers comfortable seating for a family of four, 374 litres of luggage capacity and easy manoeuvrability around town. Audi could build plant in US to placate Trump, Spiegel reports
Volkswagen's premium brand Audi could build a plant at a new location in the United States under scenarios being considered to placate President Donald Trump in the tariff conflict, the Spiegel news magazine reported on Friday. Audi is considering building a plant in the southern U.S., which would be the more expensive option out of a number of scenarios being considered, with company sources estimating costs of up to 4 billion euros ($4.6 billion), the report said. An Audi spokesperson said that the company aims to build up more of a presence in the United States. "We are currently examining various scenarios for this. We are confident that we will make a decision this year in consultation with the (Volkswagen) group on how this will look in concrete terms," she said in an emailed statement, reaffirming earlier comments made by the company. Audi has no production of its own in the U.S., but Volkswagen has a plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee and one under construction near Columbia, South Carolina. Trump's announcement of sweeping tariffs has already racked up hundreds of millions of euros in costs for German carmakers heavily reliant on their export business, according to an industry representative. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen are in talks with Washington over a possible import tariff deal , seeking to use their U.S. investments and exports as leverage to soften any blow, sources have told Reuters. Showroom sells a used car for Dhs68,000, stalls payment to vehicle's owner
Al Ain Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases Court obligated a showroom for selling new and used cars to return Dhs68,000 to a customer and fined it Dhs15,000 for failing to transfer the price of a car to a customer. Earlier, the customer asked the showroom to help him sell his car and consequently he was asked to transfer the ownership of the car to the showroom's name to make it easier to sell it. Later, an agreement on the sale price was reached, but the showroom did not commit to transferring the amount to the car owner and began to stall. The car owner filed a lawsuit against the showroom in which he requested the court to obligate it to pay him Dhs68,000 plus a legal interest at 9 per cent per annum from the date of the claim until full payment. He also requested the court to obligate the showroom to pay him Dhs30,000 in compensation for the material and moral harms he had befallen plus the incurred fees, expenses, and lawyer's fees. The car owner pleaded that he owned a car, and the defendant was a licensed showroom for selling new and used cars. As he wanted to sell his car, he agreed with the showroom for his car to be displayed at the showroom and then sold at the highest satisfactory price. The car continued to be displayed until the showroom informed the car owner that it had agreed with a buyer to sell the car for Dhs68,000, which the car owner agreed to. However, the showroom informed the car owner again that the buyer wanted to buy the car through a UAE bank and consequently the car owner was requested to transfer the ownership of the car to the showroom to be able to sell the car and complete the procedures faster. The showroom asked the car owner to use his digital ID and carry out the procedures for waiving the car and promised him to transfer the amount as soon as the procedures were completed. The car owner stated that the showroom, however, continued to stall on this matter and refused to transfer the amount to him although the car had already been sold and the sale price had already been received. This prompted the car owner to file a lawsuit, requesting the court to issue a verdict in his favour. He supported his lawsuit with a copy of the WhatsApp conversations and a copy of the car ownership document. The court explained that it was evident from the documents that the car owner had handed his car over to the showroom and declared that the showroom had sold it and collected its price Dhs68,000. The showroom did not dispute the origin of the debt and acknowledged the car owner's right to claim it. The court thereby ordered the showroom to pay the amount claimed and estimated the compensation due at Dhs15,000 for all the material and moral harms that the car owner had befallen.

Nvidia to build first industrial AI cloud in Germany
Nvidia will build its first artificial intelligence cloud platform for industrial applications in Germany, CEO Jensen Huang said on Wednesday at the VivaTech conference in Paris. The technology, which will combine AI with robotics, will help carmakers such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz with processes from simulating product design to managing logistics. In a series of Europe-focused announcements, Huang outlined plans to expand technology centres in seven countries, open up Nvidia's compute marketplace for European companies, help AI model makers in several languages become more advanced, and aid in drug discovery by firms such as Novo Nordisk. "In just two years, we will increase the amount of AI computing capacity in Europe by a factor of 10," said Huang, in a nearly two-hour-long presentation in front of a packed audience. "Europe has now awakened to the importance of AI factories and the importance of the AI infrastructure," he said, laying out plans for 20 AI factories - large-scale infrastructure designed for developing, training, and deploying AI models - in Europe. While Europe has lagged the U.S. and China in developing AI technologies, the European Commission said in March it planned to invest $20 billion to construct four AI factories. Nvidia is also partnering with European AI champion Mistral to create AI computing that runs on 18,000 of the latest Nvidia chips for European businesses. "Sovereign AI is an imperative - no company, industry, or nation can outsource its intelligence", Huang said. Huang has been trotting the globe to highlight the importance of businesses adopting AI and the dangers of falling behind. On Monday, he said in London that Britain lacked the computing infrastructure to deliver the full potential of its AI research base. Beyond AI, Huang reiterated his view quantum computing technology is at an inflection point. Quantum calculations could crack problems that currently would demand years of processing from Nvidia's most advanced AI systems. Quantum computing will solve "some interesting problems" in the coming years, Huang added. The CEO made similar comments in March at Nvidia's annual software developer conference when he spoke about the potential of quantum computing, walking back comments he made in January when he said useful quantum computers were 20 years away.
