Jim Sarbh talks about his camaraderie with Amit Sadh! Says they were the parents of their group
Jim Sarbh and Amit Sadh
Jim Sarbh
teamed up with
Amit Sadh
for Rahul DaCunha and Bugs Bhargava's
Pune Highway
. Little did Jim know that the two would get along really well not just as co-stars but also a buddies. He tells us, 'I enjoyed working with Amit.
I enjoyed working with the whole cast but Amit and I probably had the most scenes together.
We are more the parents of the group. The characters do move between those two phases like really having fun with each other and also having to deal with a more serious thing that they have ever dealt with before. So, there's the bundle of energy part of it but there is also the more complicated serious bits.'
In an earlier chat with us Jim spoke about the experience of working with the director duo, saying, 'They had a very clear vision, which made things easy on set.
I never felt confused about who to turn to—they were in sync, and both understood the material deeply. I've seen them direct theatre for years, and to me, they're pretty conventional. In terms of process and clarity, they were spot on. There was a very loving, open environment that flowed from them to the entire crew.
That kind of supportive energy is rare—and it really brought the best out of all of us.'
About the show, he had said, 'At its core, Pune Highway is about
friendship
. It's about growing up together—imagine kids who live in the same building, become best friends, and continue to share life's journey into adulthood. There's laughter, there's deep connection—dosti aur hasi—but then, suddenly, there's khoon—a murder, distant yet deeply personal, that shakes the very foundation of this group. I play Vishnu, who's a lawyer who ends up defending some of his own friends after suspicion falls on them.
So, in essence, it's a
buddy murder mystery
, with bonds of loyalty and truth colliding.'

Kuberaa Box Office Day 2: Dhanush-Rashmika Mandanna Film Earns Rs 30 Crore, Beats Suriya's Retro
Kuberaa box office collection day 2: Dhanush-starrer earns Rs 30.75 crore in India, with Telugu version leading. Dhanush's latest film Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula and co-starring Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, is off to a solid start at the box office. The multilingual film has earned an estimated Rs 30.75 crore net in India within just two days of release, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. On Saturday, the film brought in around Rs 16 crore, slightly up from its opening day collection of Rs 14.75 crore. Despite strong reviews and audience word-of-mouth, the growth in collections has been modest. However, Kuberaa is holding strong, especially in the Telugu-speaking regions. The Telugu version of the film recorded a solid 66.19% occupancy rate, outperforming the Tamil version by a noticeable margin. The film's earnings are comparable to other recent releases. It is neck and neck with Dhanush's Raayan, which made Rs 27.04 crore in two days, and has edged past Suriya's Retro, which earned Rs 27 crore in the same time frame. Backed by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao under Amigos Creations, Kuberaa features Dhanush in an intense and unconventional role — that of a beggar — which has earned him critical acclaim. Dhanush's emotional connection with the film was evident when he attended the first day, first show of Kuberaa with his son Linga at Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai. Dhanush was visibly emotional as fans cheered loudly, scaled theatre walls, and tried to catch a glimpse of him. Videos of the moment, showing him folding hands and acknowledging the crowd, quickly went viral. His security had to intervene to help him safely exit the premises. Interestingly, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the film a UA certificate only after significant edits. The total duration was reduced by 13 minutes and 41 seconds from the original cut and 19 scenes were trimmed before approval. With a steady pace at the box office and positive word-of-mouth, Kuberaa looks set for a strong weekend run. The film's success hasn't just been limited to the box office. Kuberaa has also sparked significant buzz around its digital release. According to a report by OTT Play, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for a staggering Rs 50 crore. This makes it one of the biggest OTT acquisition deals in recent times. First Published:

Jana Nayagan: Vijay plays a sword-wielding cop in his final film, see teaser
On the occasion of his 51st birthday on June 22, KVN Productions has unveiled The First Roar, a sneak peek at 'Thalapathy' Vijay's swan song Jana Nayagan. The H Vinoth directorial is all set to be Vijay's final film before he enters politics and his party contests the 2026 elections in Tamil Nadu. The glimpse begins with the text on screen: 'A true leader rises not for the power, but for the people.' We then see Vijay enter the frame, in a cop uniform with dark sunglasses. He wields a sword as he approaches a bunch of men in a field, parts of which are on fire. His fist is bleeding as he adjusts his moustache with the sword. The glimpse ends with the words, 'Let's rise together.' With music by Aniriudh Ravichander, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Priyamani among others. It marks Bobby's second Tamil film after the actor made his Kollywood debut last year as the chief antagonist in Siva's epic action fantasy Kanguva, in which he locked horns with Suriya. Pooja Hegde and Vijay earlier starred together in Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast in 2022. 'As a person who loves to watch him on screen, I'm very sad. But I also support his journey. I'm rooting for him. So, more power to him,' Hegde had told PTI on Vijay's plunge into politics after their film Jana Nayagan. In February last year, Vijay announced the launch of his political party, eyeing electoral success in the 2026 Assembly elections when the term of the incumbent DMK government ends. He announced the launch of his party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam and expressed concern over the current political situation that was fraught with 'administrative deterioration,' corruption and 'divisive politics,' that impeded unity. Jana Nayagan will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026, just ahead of Makar Sankranti and Pongal (January 14, 2026). It is backed by KVN Productions. On Republic Day, 2025, Thalapathy Vijay surprised his fans by unveiling his look. The film's first poster showed Vijay taking a selfie with a swarm of people in the backdrop. Also Read — When Vijay ran away from home after father SA Chandrasekhar declined to launch him in films: 'My idea was to go to…' Vijay was last seen in Venkat Prabhu's The Greatest Of All Time. The movie emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2024. The sci-fi action movie is directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment. The story revolves around a spy's mission that goes awry, only to resurface and haunt Vijay's character and his family years later, revealing how they confront and resolve the problem.

Did ‘Lovely' copy the housefly from 'Eega'? Rajamouli's team sends legal notice to the Malayalam film
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) The Mathew Thomas starrer fantasy film 'Lovely' is facing heat after being accused of copying the iconic housefly character from SS Rajamouli's cult Telugu hit 'Eega' (Makkhi in Hindi). As reported by On Manorama, the controversy erupted when the production house behind 'Eega', sent a legal notice to Lovely's team, alleging that the housefly in their film is strikingly similar to the one painstakingly created for 'Eega'. A fly too familiar? The legal notice, which was sent by Neo Juris LLP on June 17, claims that the 'Lovely' team used the housefly character without permission, violating copyright. According to them, the fly in 'Eega' wasn't just any digital bug — it was carefully crafted using advanced VFX, macro photography, and detailed studies of how real flies look and behave. The filmmakers of 'Eaga' believe that Lovely's fly borrows heavily from that design, right down to its appearance and movements. What are the makers saying? So far, the Lovely team hasn't issued a public response. But if the allegations are proven, the film could face serious consequences. Talking to the media, the 'Lovely' director claimed that the team has enough proof regarding the creation of the fly in the Mathew Thomas starrer. He also expressed his disappointment when 'Eega' production house claimed that the animated character's idea was stolen, while months were spent to create it. Actor Unnimaya Prasad's face was used to motion capture the housefly in 'Lovely', as per the director, who also said that the fly in his film is female, which contradicts the gender of the fly in the Nani starrer. Lovely - Official Teaser Streaming starts, controversy follows Interestingly, 'Lovely' began streaming on OTT on June 20, just days after the legal notice was issued. While the movie has been getting attention on OTT, this legal twist could complicate things. Reportedly, the notice asks the makers to immediately stop using or showing the character, whether it's in the film, posters, trailers, or any platform, including digital, theatrical, satellite, or DVD formats.
