Kuberaa Box Office Day 2: Dhanush-Rashmika Mandanna Film Earns Rs 30 Crore, Beats Suriya's Retro
Kuberaa box office collection day 2: Dhanush-starrer earns Rs 30.75 crore in India, with Telugu version leading.
Dhanush's latest film Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula and co-starring Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, is off to a solid start at the box office. The multilingual film has earned an estimated Rs 30.75 crore net in India within just two days of release, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
On Saturday, the film brought in around Rs 16 crore, slightly up from its opening day collection of Rs 14.75 crore. Despite strong reviews and audience word-of-mouth, the growth in collections has been modest. However, Kuberaa is holding strong, especially in the Telugu-speaking regions.
The Telugu version of the film recorded a solid 66.19% occupancy rate, outperforming the Tamil version by a noticeable margin.
The film's earnings are comparable to other recent releases. It is neck and neck with Dhanush's Raayan, which made Rs 27.04 crore in two days, and has edged past Suriya's Retro, which earned Rs 27 crore in the same time frame.
Backed by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao under Amigos Creations, Kuberaa features Dhanush in an intense and unconventional role — that of a beggar — which has earned him critical acclaim.
Dhanush's emotional connection with the film was evident when he attended the first day, first show of Kuberaa with his son Linga at Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai. Dhanush was visibly emotional as fans cheered loudly, scaled theatre walls, and tried to catch a glimpse of him. Videos of the moment, showing him folding hands and acknowledging the crowd, quickly went viral. His security had to intervene to help him safely exit the premises.
Interestingly, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the film a UA certificate only after significant edits. The total duration was reduced by 13 minutes and 41 seconds from the original cut and 19 scenes were trimmed before approval.
With a steady pace at the box office and positive word-of-mouth, Kuberaa looks set for a strong weekend run.
The film's success hasn't just been limited to the box office. Kuberaa has also sparked significant buzz around its digital release. According to a report by OTT Play, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for a staggering Rs 50 crore. This makes it one of the biggest OTT acquisition deals in recent times.

India's biggest flop film, even Amitabh h Bachchan failed to save it, film earned just Rs...., lead actors were....
Sometimes when a movie is released, and if it is helmed by a known director, has a massive budget, and features a star-studded cast, it is expected to be a superhit. However, the ingredients that are said to be the right formula for success don't always work. Similarly, when director Shaad Ali decided to make Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, fans thought the same. However, things turned out to be completely different. After the successful run of Saathiya and Bunty Aur Babli, director Shaad Ali decided to make another film, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. The movie was produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films and was one of the most anticipated films. Interestingly, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom had a talented star cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol, and Lara Dutta, with Amitabh Bachchan in a special appearance. The soundtrack was among the top-selling albums of 2007, yet Jhoom Barabar Jhoom underperformed at the box office and turned out to be one of the year's biggest disappointments. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Budget and Box Office Collection According to media reports, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was made for Rs 25 crore. However, the storyline fell short for the audience, and it only earned Rs 27 crore net in India and Rs 38 crore worldwide. After Jhoom Barabar Jhoom flopped, Shaad Ali took a seven-year hiatus from filmmaking and made his directorial comeback with Kill Dil. Starring Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar, Parineeti Chopra, and Govinda, the film also failed to impress at the box office. Despite having music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with lyrics written by Gulzar, the film could not resonate with the audience. Some of the hit tracks from the film are Bol Na Halke Halke, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, and more.

28 Years Later Box Office: Danny Boyle's zombie horror film collects Rs 1.35 crore in 3 days
After Final Destination: Bloodlines had ended its run, the Indian audience got another horror film from Hollywood in the form of Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later. This Zombie film was released in theaters on June 20, 2025. This much-awaited 3rd installment of the 28 Days Later series is led by Alfie Williams, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and others in the lead. As the fans had hoped, this latest movie opened with a positive response in cinemas. 28 Years Later starts slow: collects only Rs 1.35 crore in its opening weekend As expected from a horror film centred around zombies in the Indian market, 28 Years Later has seen a slow start at the ticket windows. It started with a net of Rs 35 lakh on Friday, and later showed an upward trend to Rs 50 lakh on Saturday. Later, the film remained steady on its first Sunday with a collection of Rs 50 lakh again. While this 2002 origin franchise enjoys a decent fanbase among certain sections of the Indian audience, horror as a genre has always had its limitations in the country. While it is performing extraordinarily in the remaining of its targeted markets internationally, the response to the film in India is comparatively much lower. A major factor contributing to its performance in India is the theatrical competition it is getting, not just from Indian films but from other Hollywood films too. The Indian theaters are currently flooded with several other releases like Sitaare Zameen Par, How To Train Your Dragon, Materialists, and Ballerina, among others. The Day Wise Net India Box Office Collections Of 28 Years Later Are As Under Days India Net Collections Day 1 Rs 35 lakh Day 2 Rs 50 lakh Day 3 Rs 50 lakh Total Rs 1.35 crore The Danny Boyle- directed 28 Years Later marks the theatrical return of this horror franchise on the big screen nearly 2 decades after 28 Weeks Later. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
