Louisianans honored for art, service at Community Awards Ceremony
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The winners of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition and Congressional Commendations were announced at an awards ceremony on Wednesday.
United States House Speaker Mike Johnson was on hand to announce the artists whose work embodied 'The Spirit of Louisiana.'
'We just had an extraordinary event – we love to do this annually. We give out awards for people who really represent our communities well and do a lot of extraordinary work in all of our 20 parishes around the 4th Congressional District, which is the greatest district in America. There is of honor to give, and it is due,' Speaker Johnson said. 'It was a great day, and we love to do this event.'
2025 Congressional Art Competition Winners:
1st Place: 'Craw-Fever' by Grace Rougeau, Faith Training Christian Academy
2nd Place: 'Glow of the Magnolia' by Ava Agee, Airline High School
3rd Place: 'Serene' by Samirah Etienna, South Beauregard High School
4th Place: 'Bayou's Serenity' by EMantyi Mosby, Airline High School
Staff Pick: 'Beauty of the Swamp' by Jarei'Yuana Adams, Homer High School
Staff Pick: 'In Loving Memory' by Angela Smith, Simsboro High School
Among those who received commendations are Natalie Davis, a Haughton High School student, who worked to get girls' wrestling sanctioned by the LHSAA. Those who received commendations were submitted for consideration by constituents in Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District for their efforts to better their communities.

"It's cool. It's funny what kind of people are attracted to," Cunningham said Saturday of gaining so many followers. "I'm just trying to keep the main thing the main thing, and that's basketball, trying to win games, sticking up for my teammates. And that's all part of it. I think all that stuff is fun and whatnot, but, at the end of the day, we need to win some basketball games." DeMita has developed a strong social media following for her basketball analysis and commentary. The connection between Caitlin Clark and the Big3 Since Clark emerged as a generational talent, the Big3 attempted to attach their brand to her name. In March 2024, Ice Cube offered Clark a $5 million contract to play in the Big3. Ultimately, Clark was the No.1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and was drafted by the Fever to much fanfare. Along the way, Clark went onto win the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year. The Big3 is largely comprised of former NBA players playing in a 3 on 3 format. Angel Reese and the Sky won back to-back games versus the Dallas Wings after starting 0-4. They suffered an embarrassing 35-point loss at Indiana in the season opener on May 17. A much better showing will be expected, nay demanded on their home floor. Based on her attire, Reese is certainly thinking big. We will see if the audaciousness translates to the court.
