OSAKA (WAM) The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka welcomed Dr Sultan AlNeyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and UAE astronaut, for a special visit that brought to life the nation's achievements in space exploration and its commitment to accelerating collective progress and empowering lives through research, innovation, and youth engagement.Dr AlNeyadi was received by Shihab AlFaheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. The minister was taken on a guided tour through the Pavilion's immersive experience, From Earth to Ether.During the visit, Dr AlNeyadi explored the Pavilion's multi-sensory journey, which shares the UAE's national story — one of deep humanity and remarkable transformation, rooted in enduring values. The experience highlights the contributions of people shaping the future of the UAE, including the Explorers of Space, the Catalysts of Healthcare, and the Stewards of Sustainability, and culminates in the powerful installation titled Woven Legacies.
A highlight of the tour was the Explorers of Space section, where Dr AlNeyadi is featured as one of the Pavilion's 'Dreamers Who Do'. This segment celebrates Emiratis who have made a tangible impact on the world stage. His presence at the Pavilion added depth and personal resonance to the exhibit, allowing visitors to connect in person with one of the inspiring individuals whose stories are at the heart of the Pavilion experience.He was accompanied by Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director-General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre.As part of the visit, Dr AlNeyadi addressed an audience during a specially organised event inside the Pavilion. Speaking to a crowd that included children, families, and Expo visitors from around the world, he reflected on his six-month mission aboard the International Space Station as part of Expedition 69.He shared insights on daily life in orbit, the scientific experiments conducted during the mission, and the importance of international partnerships in advancing space research. He also answered questions from the audience in an open Q&A session.'It has been a privilege to visit the UAE Pavilion here in Osaka and see how our national story is being brought to life on the global stage,' said Dr Sultan AlNeyadi.'The Explorers of Space zone and the 'Meet the Dreamers Who Do' experience highlight the UAE's belief in its people. In just a few years, we have moved from ambition to achievement in space exploration. Our growing collaboration with Japan is a strong example of what shared vision can deliver for the future of humanity,' he added.Dr AlNeyadi's visit also formed part of Expo 2025's 'Future of Community and Mobility' theme week, which explores how science, innovation, and collective effort can transform how societies move, connect, and progress.His participation underscored the UAE's leadership in these conversations, particularly in the fields of advanced technology and space exploration.Following the Pavilion tour, Dr AlNeyadi visited several other national pavilions as part of a broader tour of Expo 2025 Osaka.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed said they were raised to believe that "building a person is more important than building a structure." "At Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid School, we were raised to believe that fatherhood is a message and a responsibility... and that building a person is more important than building an urban structure... and the father remains the support and role model... and the truest story told throughout life," Sheikh Ahmed said. Sheikh Mansoor called Sheikh Mohammed his "first teacher." "On Father's Day, we remember the great role fathers play in building people and shaping nations. A father is not just the head of a family; he is the first teacher and an inspiring role model. I learned from my father, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, that a true father is one who instills values before words and leads with actions before words. Happy Father's Day," he said. Meanwhile, Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, said: "Every year, you are my source of strength and support, my inspiration and the light that I follow."

Historic Sharjah site is candidate for Unesco World Heritage status
A site in Sharjah where evidence of human habitation dating back more than 210,000 years has been found is a candidate for Unesco World Heritage status. Faya, an ancient archaeological site of huge significance in the Arabian Peninsula, is among 30 sites being considered by the UN's cultural body. Unesco's World Heritage committee will now make a decision at its 47th session to be held from July 7 to 16 in Paris. The Sharjah site is what is known as a palaeolandscape, providing insights into how early humans lived, migrated, and adapted to environments. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi is the official ambassador of the emirate's Unesco World Heritage nomination file. 'Faya offers one of the oldest and most complete records of early human presence in Arabia, dating back over 210,000 years - a living archive that deepens our understanding of who we are, where we came from, and how we have learnt to survive,' said Sheika Bodour, in remarks carried by state news agency Wam last month. 'The Faya palaeolandscape's nomination for Unesco World Heritage status highlights the importance of preserving these ancient sites, not only for their historical value but for their potential to educate future generations. As ambassador, I see this nomination as an opportunity to elevate Faya as a shared inheritance for all people around the world." Research pays off The Faya Range, a chain of limestone outcrops known in Arabic as jebels, can be considered a natural barrier between the Rub Al Khali desert to its west and the Dhaid-Madam plain to its east. The area is rich in resources such as flint and freshwater springs, which made human settlements there. There is evidence of human tools, life and burials. Scientists say the environment and people's way of living changed over thousands of years in the area. 'Over 30 years of meticulous research and collaboration led by our national mission and experts with international experts have revealed 18 distinct archaeological layers from the Stone Age, bringing to light an intricate history of human evolution, adaptation and survival right here in Sharjah,' said Eisa Yousif, director of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, in remarks also carried by Wam. 'As we advance Faya's Unesco World Heritage nomination, it is important to emphasise that our collaborative efforts have made this a global project; one that connects the past with the present more strongly, adding to the rich global corpus of archaeological discoveries. This property, therefore, holds immense value for the world - not just Sharjah and the UAE," he added. Faya was added to Unesco's tentative list in 2023. The UAE has developed a comprehensive management plan for the Faya Palaeolandscape, which will guide its conservation, research, and visitor engagement from 2024 to 2030, Wam said. This plan aligns with Unesco's World Heritage standards, ensuring that the site is preserved while also allowing for continued exploration and education. The UAE has currently one site on the heritage list. The cultural sites of Al Ain (Hafit, Hili, Bidaa Bint Saud and Oases Areas) were collectively added in 2011. Unesco's meeting, meanwhile, will also see it examine the extension of two sites already on the list and will review of the state of conservation of 248 sites already inscribed. To date, it has inscribed 1,223 cultural and natural sites in 168 countries on the World Heritage list.
