Notre Dame is one of three finalists for top 2026 Ohio tight end Preston Fryzel
Preston Fryzel has narrowed his list down to three schools, and Notre Dame is one of them.
The Class of 2026 tight end is down to the Fighting Irish, Iowa and Miami, per On3.com. He is reportedly set to announce his commitment June 23.
Fryzel made an official visit to South Bend last weekend for the second time since receiving a scholarship offer from the Fighting Irish May 21. The Central Catholic (Toledo, OH) product had previously visited ND unofficially a few weeks ago.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder earned all-state honorable mention from the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association last season after hauling in 43 catches for 807 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games.
Tight end has been a focus on the recruiting trail for the Irish, as Fryzel is one of four still on their board. Waukee (Waukee, IA) four-star product Evan Jacobson, Great Bend (Great Bend, KS) four-star Ian Premer and Lexington (Mansfield, OH) four-star Brayden Fogle are also in the mix.

Dan Keeler, the new captain of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, called up his football coaches from his days at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High earlier this week, along with his English teacher, to give them a salute for the impact they made on a teenager now in charge of one of the Navy's most powerful ships. The speech by Keeler on Wednesday in Coronado at a changing of the command ceremony offered the real reason coaches coach and teachers teach — to make a difference in a student's life. 'I learned more about hard work, grit, determination and how to handle pain, honestly, from this group,' he said. He recalled when Notre Dame coach Kevin Rooney gave him a recommendation letter for the Naval Academy: 'Coach Rooney, when you handed me the letter, you said, 'I think you're going to be good at this,' and you were right.' Keeler added, 'There were plenty of championships, but I don't think that's how these people measure success. I was a very mediocre backup quarterback and defensive back. If I was playing in a football game, we were winning by a lot. 'Those metrics of winning and losing weren't the only things that mattered. They were important. These educators took all the time to get the best out of their students and I was one of them. They saw something in me and chose to make a positive impact, and I am forever grateful.'

Ohio State men's hockey releases 2025-2026 nonconference schedule
The Ohio State men's hockey team surprised a lot of people with their unexpectedly high level of play this past season. The Buckeyes lost a lot of key players but found a way to plug in more talent and shock a lot of people by making it to the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game en route to a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Things didn't end all that well on the national scale in the postseason, but it was still an overachieving year in which OSU went 24-12-2 overall and finished third in the League with a 14-9-1 record. It was a fun season, one that it hopes it can build momentum off of and take it into this upcoming season. And while we won't know the Big Ten schedule until a future date, the program did announce its nonconference schedule this past week, so if you are an ice hockey fan, and one that loves to watch the Scarlet and Gray, you've got something to look forward to. All told, the Buckeyes will host five nonconference games and go on the road for another five. Texas A&M commit and 2026 4-star WR invited to Rivals Five-Star event
Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is chock-full of talent at every position. Over the past week, two of the program's elite commits, four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga and four-star edge rusher Jordan Carter, have been invited to the annual Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis, Indiana, which now features the Aggies' top-ranked wide receiver commit. On Friday, it was revealed that 2024 four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory has become the newest A&M commit to be invited to the event of the summer, showcasing his elite talent. This is highly unsurprising, given his impressive play this summer during various camps, where he demonstrated his elite route-running and improved downfield speed. Earlier this month, running back Jonathan Hatton and tight end Caleb Tafua, along with Gregory, shut down their recruitment and will sign with the program as soon as Early Signing Day on December 4. During his 2024 junior season at Douglas County HS, Gregory reeled in 53 receptions for 914 yards and nine touchdowns after recording 795 yards and eight touchdowns during the previous season. Gregory's ability to quickly separate in coverage and make plays after the catch is similar to former A&M wideout and current Oregon standout Evan Stewart. As soon as Gregory steps on campus, the Georgia native has a chance to climb up the 2026 depth chart as a third or fourth option during his freshman season.
