‘Senior member' of ‘Sex, Money, Murder' gang arrested in St. Johns County
A man who deputies say is a 'senior member' of the 'Sex, Money, Murder' gang was arrested in St. Johns County, the Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.
Andrew Mariano, 23, of Flagler Estates, was taken into custody 'on charges related to racketeering, conspiracy to commit homicide, directing activities of a criminal gang, and money laundering,' SJSO said in a Facebook post.
He was one of ten 'senior members' arrested around the state, SJSO said.
The arrest was a result of a years-long investigation by the Broward County Sheriff's Office into the 'Sex, Money, Murder' gang, which is affiliated with the Bloods, a major street gang.
'Additionally, detectives discovered a kill list of the gang members' intended victims and notified them before the crimes occurred. Ultimately, saving their lives,' BSO said in a news release.

For Mariano's arrest, a warrant was served on his home by SJSO and BSO. Guns and drugs were discovered at that time, authorities said.
'The investigation revealed Mariano is responsible for trafficking in drugs and firearms across northeast Florida,' SJSO said in its post.
SJSO said Mariano is out of jail on bond.

Woman dies after car sinks into ocean in California. ‘Couldn't get her out'
Bystanders struggled to free a woman from a vehicle that crashed into the ocean but could not rescue her in time, California police reported. 16-year-old dies in head-on crash involving Sea-Doos on lake, Missouri cops say
A 16-year-old boy died in a head-on collision involving personal watercrafts on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks, Missouri authorities say. The teen was operating a Sea-Doo around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 21, in Clevenger Cove when he crashed into a second Sea-Doo operated by a 19-year-old, Missouri State Highway Patrol officials say. Authorities said the 16-year-old died at the scene. The boy, who has not been identified as of June 23, was from Sedalia. No other injuries were reported. 3 men found dead after jumping into water near California waterfall
Three people were found dead over the weekend following a multi-day search and rescue mission at Rattlesnake Falls in California. On Wednesday, June 18, the Placer County Sheriff's Office received a report about the individuals entering the water in the Soda Springs area, according to a news release. Officials learned that the missing men were part of a hiking group when they decided to jump into Rattlesnake Falls and failed to resurface, prompting ground and aerial search efforts. The other men who were with them were evacuated via helicopter on June 19 because the area is "remote" and a "difficult trail." California Highway Patrol assisted with this rescue. Lake Tahoe: 6 people dead, 2 missing after boat capsizes 'Heartfelt condolences' Deputies said search operations continued throughout the week, but were disrupted due to weather conditions and strong currents. A volunteer diver involved in the mission said in a Facebook post that he and another person had to hike for more than three hours to get to the area before diving into the "ice water" several times. "We couldn't wait. I knew it could take weeks to surface. Families needed to close this chapter already," Juan Heredia wrote, adding that they called the sheriff's office around 9 p.m. "What surprised me was the sergeant's response: 'We're going to send a team to walk right now to take care of the bodies,'" the post continued.
