Delhi minister Indraj orders 24x7 monitoring at Asha Homes to shield differently-abled from heat

NEW DELHI: Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj on Tuesday directed officials for the continuous monitoring of intellectually challenged individuals and provide all arrangements to prevent them from intense heat. The directions came during a review meeting of the summer action plan at ASHA Homes the Minister held with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and Social Welfare Department.
According to officials, the discussion was held around the Summer Action Plan for heat protection, food arrangements, healthcare facilities, and basic amenities at all Asha Homes in Delhi meant for differently-abled individuals.
'Ravinder Indraj inspected the availability of air conditioners, desert coolers, room coolers, fans and facilities for cool and purified drinking water such as water coolers and RO systems at homes located in Rohini, Narela, Hari Nagar, and Timarpur. He also issued necessary directions regarding toilets and health facilities,' a statement issued from Indraj's office read. 'Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given clear instructions that there should be no negligence regarding facilities at Asha Homes. Officials must continuously monitor the arrangements for heat protection, food services, basic amenities, and healthcare,' it added, quoting the minister.

Focus has been laid on the dais, matting, traffic and parking, security, potable water, sound, LED screens, and other arrangements. Officials of the district administration have connected online and offline with youngsters, inviting them to be part of International Yoga Day, emphasising that yoga is 'amrit snan' for health and fitness. Officials have also appealed to participants to come in a white dress code and invited the seers and saints community. The officials of PWD have been entrusted to make arrangements for the dais, carpets, sound system, sand art, and LED screens, while the department of Jal Kal has been asked for potable water arrangements. Officials of PMC on Friday inspected the cleanliness drive near Sangam Nose and adjoining areas. Besides, officials of the health department have also been asked for an adequate number of ambulances, deputation of medical and paramedical staff, and ORS counters. Meanwhile, Arail Ghat witnessed the third Triveni Yog Mahotsav on Friday, a day before the International Yoga Day. Scores of people of all age groups practised yoga exercises. With India known as the world guru for yog sadhna, experts claimed that yoga is such a simple form of exercise through which balance is easily achieved not only in the human body parts but also in the mind and brain.

International Yoga Day today: Madrasas, Sarvodaya Schools across UP to mark day

The International Yoga Day will be marked across the state with participation from all the Madrasa Board affiliated Madrasas across the state on Saturday. Sarvodaya schools run by the Social Welfare Department from Class 6 to 12 will also hold Yoga Day celebrations on the theme of 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'. For representation only (HT File Photo) On this occasion, group yoga sessions will be organised in all the schools with the participation of students, teachers and staff, in which pranayama and various yogasanas will be done under the guidance of yoga teachers. Along with this, awareness will also be created on the benefits of yoga and its importance in life, which will help the students a lot in reducing stress and increasing concentration. Uttar Pradesh MoS minority welfare, Muslim waqf and haj, Danish Azad Ansari will be participating in Yoga Day Celebrations at Warsia Madrasa in Gomti Nagar. The UP BJP minority morcha chief Kunwar Basit Ali will also participate in Yoga Day celebrations at Warsia Madrasa. Ansari said, 'Yoga is performed with the aim to keep the mind and body fit and healthy. Yoga Day will be celebrated across all the Madrasa Board-affiliated madrasas across the state in an attempt to spread the message of physical and mental fitness.' Ali said, 'We are going to organise Yoga Day celebrations across the state. Yoga is meant for all and we all know that our PM Narendra Modi got international recognition for Yoga, and today the entire world knows the importance of Yoga.' On the other hand, special programmes will be organised on Saturday in Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya schools run by the social welfare department. This year's theme is 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', which reflects the global spirit of keeping oneself and the whole society healthy. The UP social welfare department is running 100 Sarvodaya schools with residential facilities from Class 6 to 12 for the students of economically weaker families across the state. Along with quality education in these schools, the facility of free coaching for competitive exams like JEE and NEET is also being provided.
