Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett may not have signed the dotted line yet, but he left little to the imagination when it comes to his NHL future. During the team's wild Stanley Cup celebration at Miami's E11EVEN nightclub, the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy winner grabbed the mic and made his intentions crystal clear in a crowd-pumping moment that quickly made headlines: 'I ain't F---ng leaving!'
Elliotte Friedman teases Sam Bennett's possible price tag ahead of NHL free agency frenzy
The explosive declaration came just over a week before Bennett is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, pending any pre-deadline contract extension with Florida.
Though the veteran center sounded confident and committed, the reality is that no agreement has been made official yet.
Bennett's agent, Darren Ferris, quickly addressed the rumors, clarifying, 'At this time, no contract has been signed. When there's something official, we'll share it accordingly.' That statement did little to quiet the buzz but confirmed that fans will have to wait a bit longer for pen to meet paper.
Still, signs point to a likely reunion. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, discussions are heating up between Bennett's camp and the Panthers. Speaking on SN 590, Friedman reported that negotiations are centering around a long-term extension in the $7.5 to $8 million average annual value (AAV) range.
Adding to his analysis in his 32 Thoughts column, Friedman wrote, 'As the sun rose, everyone was pumping the brakes on Bennett extension talk, warning not to take such liquified announcements too seriously.

It's hard to believe he'd make such a bold proclamation without knowing where this was going, but nothing's done until it is done.'
What's reassuring for Panthers fans is that General Manager Bill Zito seems determined to retain his top stars. During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Zito emphasized, 'We're going to spend to the cap… The Viola family ownership has empowered us to try to do everything we can to have the best team we can.
So we're going to spend it all.'
That statement aligns with Florida's goal of keeping its core intact — not just Bennett, but also other high-profile free agents like Brad Marchand and Aaron Ekblad.
As July 1 approaches, the expectation is clear: Sam Bennett wants to stay, the Panthers want him back, and all that's left is turning intent into ink.

IND vs ENG: Boom Boom Bumrah! Five-star Jasprit Bumrah joins Kapil Dev at the top

Jasprit Bumrah (Getty Images) NEW DELHI: Jasprit Bumrah continues to redefine greatness in fast bowling. On Day 3 of the first Test against England at Headingley, the Indian pace spearhead became the first Asian bowler to take 150 wickets across SENA countries — South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia. Bumrah reached this milestone with a phenomenal five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/83 in 24.4 overs at an economy rate of 3.36. It was another near-lone-warrior effort from India's ace as he dismantled England's middle and lower order with unrelenting precision. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! This marked Bumrah's 10th five-wicket haul in SENA nations, making him the first Indian bowler to achieve this feat. He now sits just two behind Pakistan legend Wasim Akram , who claimed 11 fifers in these regions. Additionally, this was Bumrah's 12th five-wicket haul in away Tests, bringing him level with the great Kapil Dev . What makes this achievement even more remarkable is Bumrah's efficiency — he reached the mark in just 34 Tests, compared to Kapil's 66. His SENA record includes four five-wicket hauls in Australia, three in England, three in South Africa, and two in the West Indies. IND vs ENG: Fuming coach! Gautam Gambhir visibly angry as Yashasvi Jaiswal spills Jasprit Bumrah's wicket chance

NEW DELHI: Just when the momentum seemed to be shifting in India's favour, captain Shubman Gill once again turned to his senior pacer, Jasprit Bumrah , in search of a breakthrough. And Bumrah, as always, delivered — or almost did. He induced a thick edge off the dangerous Harry Brook, only for the catch to be spilled by Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully. It was a moment that could have turned the game, and Bumrah's reaction said it all — hands over his eyes, soaking in the disappointment, he quietly walked back to his fielding position. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Gill, stationed at second slip, looked visibly frustrated. The camera soon cut to Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir , who wore a similar expression of disbelief and annoyance. Pant, ever the spirited teammate, rushed all the way from behind the stumps to fine leg to console Bumrah, who had by then thrown his head back in visible exasperation. This was the fourth catch dropped off Bumrah's bowling in the innings — three by Jaiswal and one by Ravindra Jadeja — equaling the joint-most dropped catches off a single Indian bowler in an innings, as per available database records. Jaiswal's three missed chances also tie him for the most by an Indian fielder in a Test innings. Despite the missed opportunities, Bumrah's class remains unquestioned. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri had nothing but high praise for the speedster, calling him the best fast bowler India has ever produced. "I thought Malcolm Marshall was the best I saw in reading a batter and setting him up but this guy is not far behind. Where I have seen Bumrah improve is getting swing with the new ball. When he is swinging the new ball it becomes hard for any batter in the world to counter him, what with the action and the late release," Shastri said during a chat with Sky Sports ahead of Day 3. Assessing India's position in the match, Shastri added: Sitanshu Kotak press conference: Big revelation on Shubman Gill "I think India will be disappointed that they didn't add another 75 or 80 runs but towards the end of day two, getting Root out, has evened things." "I think they still have the upper hand. They have the runs on the board and you know what Bumrah can do. He can crack this game open in the first hour or so. If he can get a couple of wickets, India will think they can get a lead," he concluded. Follow all the live updates, scores, and highlights from the India vs England Test match here .
