Will Falkirk 'buckle' or could they aim for mid-table?

Will Falkirk 'buckle' or could they aim for mid-table?

BBC News5 hours ago

We asked for your views on Falkirk's Scottish Premiership fixtures and how they will be faring after 10 games. Here's what some of you said:Alan: I think Falkirk will face their sternest test since John McGlynn joined and they will buckle. They will finish in the bottom three because they struggled against the two other Championship promotion contenders, Livingston and Ayr, last season.Kevin: Seventh could be achievable. Still a couple of defenders short. Midfield looks competitive. Great in the wide positions, which will be key to get the goals needed.Calum: To be honest, it's all about remaining in the league, not least for the commercial benefits, but also for the entertaining football Falkirk bring to all of their games. We know it's going to be hard, but we'll always be behind our club, win, draw or lose, and that's what it is to be a Bairn.

Kris Boyd on what happens after Rangers rows with Celtic hero Chris Sutton once Sky Sports cameras stop rolling

The pair have regularly sparred on air over the Glasgow giants - but things off screen appear to be very different Kris Boyd insists that Celtic hero Chris Sutton knows how to exploit his "vulnerability" when the pair clash on Sky Sports. But the Rangers fan favourite reckons he gives as good as he gets - with the duo remaining pals off screen despite the Glasgow divide separating their allegiances. ‌ Last season the sparring between the two ranged from 'dead rubber' derby claims to promises of cuddles in car parks as temperatures boiled over in the Sky Sports studio. ‌ But Boyd has revealed that the pair will often have a beer after the on-screen exchanges. And he insists the back and forth only proves that the duo are not "bluffers" as they appear alongside James McFadden and host Eilidh Barbour for Scottish Premiership clashes. He told the Sunday Post: "I believe there is a real good chemistry with everyone in the studio, up in the gantry and behind the scenes. Eilidh Barbour anchors it well. " Chris Sutton is excellent at his job and isn't afraid to give his opinion. James McFadden is diligent, respected and likeable. "Ian Crocker is one of the best in the business and has been leading Scottish football commentary for almost 30 years. Luke Shanley gets some great interviews. "We all work really hard to do our jobs to the best of our ability. We are not bluffers. Nobody would last if they tried to cut corners. ‌ "People might think it's easy but live television is far from a walk in the park. "When managers aren't doing their jobs well enough you need to call them out and criticise. I know many of the guys but I will not try to cover up for them. ‌ "That said, it's not easy to criticise. Some people just can't do it and I've seen pundits crumble when they are put on the spot and asked for an honest assessment of a player or manager. "You also need to be ready to take on your fellow pundit. If any vulnerability is sensed, then it will be quickly pounced upon. "I'll do it to Chris and he will do it to me. We have frank exchanges but we are always fine afterwards. ‌ "We'll have a beer or two together. We get on well.* You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. here and our Celtic community here.

The Lanarkshire side are in crisis at the moment, facing potential expulsion from the SPFL over the stadium saga. Accies were relegated from the Championship at the end of last season after being hit with 15-point deduction for several rule breaches, after being found to have not paid players on time earlier this season. Current owner Seref Zengin has been at the helm since 2023 but with the team's fortunes spiralling downward rapidly over the last few months, fans have launches protests against him and other key figures at the club. The latest debacle would see Hamilton relocate to Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld until a solution can be reached on New Douglas Park (if indeed one can be reached). Making matters even more bizarre is that Broadwood's original tenants, Clyde, have been playing AT New Douglas Park since 2022 when they were kicked out of their own stadium. Ex-Accies chief McGowan has likened the row between him and the current ownership to a "bitter divorce" and is only now beginning to accept he is "powerless" in the struggle. He also claimed lies and a lack of communication have further impacted the process. In a post on LinkedIn, McGowan said: "Over the last few months l have had major emotional challenges watching something which l played a big part in building which in my opinion is now being systematically ripped apart bit by bit for no reason that l will ever understand. "If l can try to ignore lies, rumours, deception, confusions, false information, no information, no communication and what resembled desperation l suppose it can be compared to a bitter divorce with one party grabbing their clothes, some furniture and slamming the door behind them with not even a Dear John Letter. "Yet with me personally still feeling desperately disappointed and let down both financially and emotionally l still genuinely hope that everything works out for all concerned. Ally McCoist confesses to 'horrendous' epic fail ahead of final day of Rangers legend's charity bike ride "l am the type of person that has always struggled with situations l am powerless in. "I simply accept we are all fully accountable for the decisions we ourselves make as individuals or as members of corporate boards especially when those decisions effect a whole community."
