Ruffa Gutierrez says she and Herbert Bautista are ‘going through a bump' right now
Ruffa Gutierrez revealed that her relationship with Herbert Bautista is currently experiencing a 'bump' in the road.
On Thursday's 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,' Ruffa said their currently not talking to each other.
'We're going through a bump right now and we're not speaking. So let's see if that bump will last or we'll speak again. I don't know,' she said.
The actress sees this period as a potential opportunity for reflection, saying 'I've been busy also and he has other things that he should take care of as well when it comes to personal matters. So maybe this is also a good time because it's been five years since we first met again on the set of a project that we did. So limang taon, so magandang space 'to para makita natin kung itutuloy ba or ihihinto natin,' she said.
Despite the current challenges in their relationship, Ruffa had nothing but kind words for Herbert.
'Even if we're going through a little bump right now, I will treasure our precious moments because he's the one that encouraged me also to study,' she said. 'Marami akong natututunan sa kaniya and for that, I'm very thankful.'
In 2022, Ruffa completed her bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from the Philippine Women's University.
In her interview, Ruffa clarified that they are not living together. 'I've never lived with a person. Hindi ako naniniwala sa live-in kaya 'yung mga relasyon ko nagtatagal kasi may space, 'di ba? Excited kayo to see each other. Kung everyday, gumigising ka, siya 'yung katabi mo, parang oh my gosh,' she said.
Ruffa recalled first meeting Herbert when she was only 13 years old.
'Nakasalamin pa ako, kulot-kulot ang hair ko. Hindi ko siya pinapansin, hindi rin niya ako pinapansin. Wala, dedma. We were just co-stars. And then I remember, when I was 17, binigyan niya ako ng libro. Sabi niya, 'Ito, basahin mo 'tong libro na 'to. Maganda 'yan para 'pag tinanong ka sa Q and A sa Miss World, makakasagot ka.' So ako naman, my gosh, may pictures ba 'to?'
When asked if they had talked about marriage, Ruffa answered, 'Marriage is very difficult. I don't know if I'm ready for that step yet. Herbert's also not ready.'
Instead, she emphasized the importance of finding a companion.
'I think what's more important rather than discussing marriage is looking for someone that will be your best friend, soulmate, and lifetime partner.'
Ruffa first revealed her relationship with Herbert in June 2024. Last month, he finally made it to Ruffa's TikTok account.
This is her first known relationship after her marriaged with Turkish businessman Yilmaz Bektas ended. They have two daughters, Lorin and Venice, who are currently in Turkiye with Bektas.
Meanwhile, Ruffa is set to star in 'Beauty Empire' with Barbie Forteza and Kyline Alcantara. — Carby Basina/LA, GMA Integrated News
