Evacuations lifted after brush fire in Fallbrook
FALLBROOK, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Firefighters have stopped the forward rate of spread of a vegetation fire in Fallbrook that prompted a road closure and led to evacuation orders and warnings for communities in the surrounding areas.
Crews with the North County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire responded to the fire in the 5000 block of S. Mission Rd. near Bonsall around 3 p.m. South Mission Road was closed in both directions as crews worked to put out the fire.

The fire, dubbed the 'Mission Fire' by NCFPD, was initially reported to be approximately two acres. At 7:51 p.m., the fire is at 21 acres and 50% contained, according to Cal Fire.

The forward rate of spread was stopped around 4:10 p.m., according to an update by NCFPD on X, formerly Twitter.
Evacuation orders and warnings were issued for certain areas. Both have since been lifted.
According to Cal Fire, evacuation orders are issued in zones where there is an immediate threat to life. The zones under evacuation orders are closed to public access.
Meanwhile, evacuation warnings are issued for areas where there is a potential threat to life and/or property. People in these areas, highlighted in yellow on the emergency map, and who need more time to evacuate and those with pets and livestock are urged to leave immediately.
Cal Fire said structures on Sweetgrass Lane and La Canada Road were threatened by the fire. Images captured by SkyFOX/KUSI in the Sky show flames burning close to homes and other buildings.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Camino Fire near Don Pedro Reservoir in Tuolumne County burns 100 acres
Cal Fire said a 100-acre wildfire is burning at a dangerous rate near Don Pedro Reservoir in Tuolumne County. According to Cal Fire's incident page, the Camino Fire started around 12:20 p.m. on the western side of the reservoir. The Tuloumne County Sheriff's Office said the fire is near Camino Road in the La Grange and Don Pedro roads area. Fire at Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz sparked by cooking, firefighters say
A vegetation fire sparked by cooking at Natural Bridges State Park on Thursday afternoon led to evacuations and briefly threatened the park's visitors center, firefighters said. Shortly before 3:30 p.m., Santa Cruz Fire Department, Cal Fire and other agencies responded to the park located near the ocean and West Cliff Drive. Firefighters received reports of 30-foot flames in the eucalyptus trees. Crews with the first firefighting unit reported a 100' by 50' vegetation fire in grass and eucalyptus trees. The fire was "moving at a rapid rate of spread" and was threatening the Natural Bridges Visitor Center. Firefighters deployed hoses and hand crews cut lines to prevent further spread of the fire. As crews from other fire agencies arrived, a second fire was reported east of the original fire in what was described as a "sensitive area of vegetation." The second fire was quickly contained with the help of a Cal Fire helicopter crew.
