Kyle & Jackie O star quits live on-air

Perth Now15-05-2025

Kyle & Jackie O listeners were left shocked when an employee announced his resignation live on-air on Thursday.
Studio producer Lachlan Mansell — who also appeared on Nine's Beauty and the Geek show — revealed he would be leaving the radio show to pursue an opportunity in the motorsport industry.
'Someone's leaving the show, officially resigned... It's Lachy, the Geek,' Kyle said.
Mansell jumped in to say: 'My new title is Head of Motorsport for One Raceway, a motor racing circuit. I'll be coordinating events and overseeing the media and PR for them.'
His resignation comes less than a year after the breakfast show was hit by another big loss when executive producer Pedro Vitola left.
Vitola announced in August that he was stepping down from his role after seven years to focus on his family.
'It's been an amazing ride, and I'm so grateful to Kyle, Jackie, and the entire team for the opportunities I've had,' Vitola said.
'As much as I love the show, my new role as a dad is my top priority, and I'm excited to spend more time with my family.'

Sunday Footy Show skips Tony Jones's Wimbledon exclusion

Time On is your wrap up of all the footy gossip and banter. Tony Jones being denied a trip to Wimbledon was curiously not discussed on the Sunday Footy Show with many wondering if the topic has been banned. A month ago Jones told Time On he was 95 percent confident he was going to work again at the All-England Club but Nine released a statement that it would instead be 'optimising resources' with reporting and daily coverage from the London bureau. Jones' worldwide headline making comments about Novak Djokovic during the Australian Open will now conveniently not be brought up again when Wimbledon begins next month. Jones helms the Sunday Footy Show with a popular segment called What Caught My Eye that usually takes the mickey out panel members — Nathan Brown, Matthew Lloyd, Rory Sloane and Damian Barrett. But on Sunday there was no word of the Wimbledon axing. Nine has said it will use experts Todd Woodbridge, Jelena Dokic and Alicia Molik with support from Sam McClure. Former Sunday Footy Show panellist Kane Cornes, who has infamously defected to Seven, expressed concern about the show taking a 'few shorts steps' and dropping the ball in not mentioning the situation. 'I feel for him because I know how much he loves going and I know what a great job he does and there would be a healthy rivalry between Scoop (McClure) and TJ so that would have stung a bit,'' Cornes said on SEN breakfast Monday alongside David King. 'But it's the fact it wasn't mentioned I don't believe on the Sunday Footy Show yesterday. 'It couldn't be the crew because I know them. I know that Damo and Browny and Llordo would have fought really hard to come up with something hilarious to needle and prod about this and get into him for the whole two hours of the show. 'So it must have been a management decision above like it was last time when they weren't allowed to discuss the Novak incident. They took a few short steps. I'm just concerned that they're starting to take the odd short step over there.' King said 'they're prime time footy show areas' and it was perplexing not to have brought it up. 'You have to go there,'' Cornes said. 'There's many ways you could do it. You could start a GoFundMe for TJ to go to Wimbledon. You could go through the history of how it's got to this and all the little maybe gaffes that have led to this point. Shown the (Bec Judd) kiss again … I just worry. I would like to get to the bottom of why there's been a few short steps taken.' Former footy stars support The Male Hug Footy favourites Matthew Richardson and Billy Brownless have opened up on the profound effect of recent tragic losses of life. Speaking at The Male Hug charity lunch for men's mental health at the MCG, the duo said recent events, including the passing of Adam and Troy Selwood, highlighted why they were supporting the cause. 'It's hard to fathom really what's happened in the footy world,' Richardson said. 'It does make you think about how guys are actually going when they retire. 'I looked at the Selwood boys and they both appeared to be going well. When it happens to guys as young as the Selwood brothers, it really did hit home to me why I'm involved with The Male Hug and why I've been involved for a while now. 'The first reason I got involved, I'd just been home to Tassie when (founder and CEO) Tony (Rabah) rang me, it was probably five years ago, and I just walked into the pub and remember going home that night feeling quite down in the dumps. Just a lot of people struggling and it hit a chord with me, men my age going through financial issues and personal breakdowns and marriages is why I got involved. For that to happen with the Selwood brothers is another reason why we have to keep the momentum up.' Brownless said it was hard to come to terms with the loss of the Selwoods. 'Four brothers grew up in Bendigo ... all hard, tough ... they were all men and then now I just feel so sorry for Bryce and Maree, mum and dad, they had four boys now they've got two and that's in a matter of months,' Brownless said. 'They're strong boys and all of a sudden they've been driven to this. It's really hard to take. When these things happen, it's not right.' Richardson and Brownless were speaking alongside fellow The Male Hug ambassadors Kevin Sheedy, Andrew Conway and Tim Mannah. Other guests included Darren Berry, Greg Williams, Peter Daicos and Justin Koschitzke. The luncheon raised funds for the 1800MYBUDDY line with the big fundraiser, Talktober, in October. The Block 2025: Grim 'reality' of renovation series exposed as leaked photos show homes 'identical' to 2022 season, less drama among Blockheads

Nine insiders have exposed the grim "reality" of The Block 2025 before it airs, claiming the newly completed homes will be "identical" to those from the 2022 season, with a lot less drama among the Blockheads. Channel Nine's renovation series is expected to return to screens in early August, with a fresh round of Blockheads this year building homes from scratch, rather than renovating them, in the Victorian town of Daylesford. Leaked photos show couple Han and Can's completed home has a very similar aesthetic to Rachel and Ryan's living room from the 2022 Tree Change season, particularly in terms of the furniture. Han and Can's lounge features a very similar beige couch to the one seen in both Rachel and Ryan and Ankur and Sharon's living rooms in 2022. Rumours at Nine suggest the new season, which the network has remained tight-lipped about, could be branded a sequel to Tree Change. The past season of the top-rated show saw the contestants renovate five properties into luxury rural escapes on a 79-acre site in Gisborne South, located in Victoria's Macedon Ranges, near this year's location. "Honestly, the style and finish of the homes are nearly identical to what we saw in Tree Change," an insider told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday. "Same vibe, same tones, same country-chic energy." Another well-placed insider quelled fans' hopes of some fiery encounters and heightened emotions among the contestants. "There's actually much less conflict this year," the insider said. "But that doesn't mean it's boring. There's a charm and warmth to this season that will surprise long-term fans." The source also poured cold water over speculation the new homes would focus on living off the land, healthy eating, and holistic living—the lifestyle in Daylesford—and said they won't be markedly different at all. "In reality, the houses are still very much classic Block homes," they said. Can and Han's home, however, is set still apart from the rest through a plush beige wall facing the rear end of the couch. Other leaked photos show an equally neutral yet opulent open-plan living and kitchen space, with a large fireplace encased in a marble wall. The kitchen boasts a several-meter marble worktop and is fit for the avid entertainer. The heart of the home also comes with a dedicated wine fridge and storage rack, as well as a makeshift mini-bar. The development follows Channel Nine inadvertently putting itself in the firing line after revealing the new trailer for The Block last week. In the teaser, Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft can be seen sounding the horns of two big red trucks en route to the new countryside location. The co-hosts are joined by The Block's famous troupe, including former contestant turned foreman Dan Reilly and real estate agent Marty Fox. Judge Darren Palmer also made a cameo appearance riding a horse shirtless and, in true county theme, declared, "Howdy man". However, fans were quick to notice that Scotty and Shelley were not wearing seatbelts while driving the trucks and lashed out at the detail. "Probably should have put ya seatbelts on," one viewer wrote. Elsewhere in the trailer, the new 2025 Blockheads were introduced as Emma and Ben, Can and Han, Robby and Matt, Alicia and Sonny, and Brit and Taz, who happily jumped out of the back of one of the trailers. Scotty said a "truckload of fun" awaited the contestants, who will undergo the tough job of building homes from scratch in a dramatic series first. The move marks a pivotal step away from the previous series, in which the stars competed with each other by renovating a home for auction. The premise remains that the couple who wins the highest price at auction receives a grand monetary prize to help set them up for life. The Block has continuously built a strong lead in the prime-time TV ratings, surging ahead of Seven's My Kitchen Rules and The Voice.

'Let me be absolutely clear': Beauty and the Geek star forced to deny involvement in shocking murder case as identity of the alleged offender is suppressed

Former Beauty and the Geek winner Kiera Johnstone has been forced to publicly deny involvement in a shocking murder case after rampant speculation linked her to the crime. The 26-year-old reality TV contestant, who won the 2021 series alongside her match Lachlan Mansell, took to social media on Sunday to clarify that she had not been arrested or charged, and was not involved "in any way". Johnstone's statement comes after a 34-year-old woman, reportedly a former Beauty and the Geek contestant, was charged with murder when the body of a man was discovered in a Port Lincoln home last Thursday. That legal restriction has allegedly fueled online speculation, some of which Johnstone now claims has implicated her. In a lengthy message posted to her Instagram Stories, the reality TV star hit back at the rumours and urged people to "stop spreading misinformation". "Hi everyone," her statement began. "A former contestant from Beauty and the Geek has been charged with a very serious crime. "Although no names have been released, for reasons beyond my understanding, there has been speculation online suggesting that I am involved." Jonstone continued: "Let me be absolutely clear: I am not involved in any way. I have not been charged with a crime. I have literally never even had a parking fine." "The allegations being discussed have nothing to do with me, and the fact that I even need to say this is incredibly upsetting." Johnstone, who now runs a jewellery boutique in Melbourne and formerly worked as a public servant with the Victorian Government, said it was "deeply disturbing" to see people "spreading false information, making assumptions and sharing screenshots". "I understand the internet can be quick to judge, but this kind of speculation is damaging and invasive and is something I take very seriously," she continued. She ended the statement to her nearly 15,000 followers by saying: "As this has nothing to do with me, this will be the only time I speak on the matter." While Johnstone and her on-screen partner Lachlan 'Lachy the Geek' Mansell have remained close since sharing the show's $100,000 prize four years ago, he has not commented publicly on the situation. It's understood the woman charged faced court via video link from Port Lincoln Hospital on Friday under police guard. She is currently being held under a mental health order and is expected to reappear in court in December. At a press conference the same day, South Australia Police Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott confirmed it was not yet known how long the man had been dead before his body was discovered. He declined to comment on the nature of the man's injuries but said the incident was not random. "We understand that the female who has been arrested and the deceased male both lived at this address," he said. Neighbours said they were stunned by the incident, describing the woman as "really nice". One resident said he attempted to put the fire out, but the house was "too smoky". It's understood the couple had only recently moved in together. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
