Teen killed over gaming dispute

The police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly killing a minor after a dispute following a card game. The accused, identified as Soheb Habib Sheikh, had physically assaulted the 16-year-old living in his neighbourhood at the ground floor of Vijay Prabha Housing Society in Nehrunagar in Pimpri at around 3pm on Saturday.
As per the complaint filed by Naganath Arjun Kurhade, 42, on Saturday, 'Following a verbal dispute with the accused while playing the 'Vyapar' game on the terrace of their neighbour Chaitanya Yadav's house, his 14-year-old son told his elder brother about it.'
Gorakh Kumbhar, senior inspector, Sant Tukaramnagar Police Station, said, 'When the 16-year-old asked Soheb about the confrontation, the latter physically assaulted him. The minor later succumbed to injuries. The deceased was a Class 12 student and his brother is in Class 8.'
Police have filed a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Army jawan, accomplice arrested for leaking info to ISI

In a major counter-espionage operation, Amritsar Rural Police has arrested an Indian Army jawan and his aide suspected of espionage activities linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The arrested accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Foji, a resident of Dhariwal in Amritsar— presently, serving in the Indian Army and posted in Jammu; and his associate Sahil Masih, alias Shali, a resident of Dhariwal in Amritsar. DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigation revealed that Gurpreet was in direct contact with operatives of the Pakistan ISI and is suspected of sharing sensitive and confidential information via pen drives. The key ISI handler involved in the case has been identified as Rana Javed, he added. The DGP said that two mobile phones containing virtual numbers, reportedly used to communicate with ISI operatives, have been recovered from the possession of both the accused. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators in this case, he said. Sharing more details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh said that accused Gurpreet was recruited into the Army in 2016 and systematically exploited his official position to collect, store, and transmit classified military information via pen drives and discs. The espionage network was reportedly facilitated by an acquaintance identified as Arjan, a Dubai-based drug trafficker from Dhariwal, who introduced Gurpreet to ISI operatives five months ago, he said, while adding that since then, Gurpreet has actively engaged in the unauthorised collection and relay of sensitive military data to the ISI using pre-decided drop locations. The SSP said that in lieu of this espionage activity, Gurpreet was receiving monetary compensation through a complex financial network involving intermediary bank accounts of friends, relatives, and foreign associates to evade detection. In an intelligence-led operation, police teams have arrested Gurpreet and his associate Sahil, while they were attempting another handover of sensitive data, he said. The official said that further investigations are in progress to unravel the wider nexus and identify additional conspirators, both domestic and foreign-based. A case has been registered under sections 3, 5, and 9 of the Official Secrets Act and section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Lopoke police station in Amritsar Rural.

Establishment of NFSU, CFSL will strengthen criminal justice system: Amit Shah in Raipur

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 22 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the setting up of National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Nava Raipur would further advance and strengthen the criminal justice system of Chhattisgarh and central India. 'Today marks an important day for Chhattisgarh's criminal justice system. In a way, three new initiatives are being started to further advance the criminal justice system: The laying of the foundation stones for National Forensic Science University and Central Forensic Science Laboratory laid today, along with the transit campus of NFSU inaugurated,' Shah said while addressing the gathering here. 'The move will strengthen the criminal justice system in central India,' he said. Shah informed that the Chhattisgarh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 5,000 crore at the investment summit held this year, which would bring industries to the state. 'Chhattisgarh's i-Hub has also been inaugurated. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 5,000 crore has been signed at an investment summit organised by CM Vishnu Deo Sai. The industries are coming. However, until the youth push themselves to be industrialists, Chhattisgarh will not witness an industrial revolution (development),' the Union Minister said. Talking about the Innovation Hubs in Chhattisgarh, the Union Home Minister encouraged the youth to pursue careers in starting industries and develop a culture that allows the state to grow. 'i-hub will ensure technical and financial help to the youths in establishing their startups. This will provide a major opportunity and platform for the youth of Chhattisgarh. Until the youth here becomes an MSME industrialist and develops a culture of this kind, Chhattisgarh cannot develop,' Shah added. Meanwhile, Shah informed that the NFSU campus will be constructed at Rs 145 crore, and the CFSL will be constructed at Rs 123 crore. 'The top forensic science institutes will be constructed at a total cost of Rs 268 crore. The state government has given land for the same.' The Union Home Minister shared details about the courses to be offered by NFSU and appealed to the youth to show confidence in the Narendra Modi government, assuring that employment is guaranteed after graduating from NFSU. 'Trust the Modi government, NFSU ka graduation matlab apki naukri ki guarantee hai (employment is guaranteed after graduating from NFSU),' Shah said, adding, 'The development of these institutions will reduce the dependency on big cities for forensic sample examination.' He lauded the Chhattisgarh government over implementation of new criminal laws, including Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). 'The Chhattisgarh government is working very well on the implementation of three critical laws. 329 booked in Cyberabad drunk driving crackdown

A total of 329 individuals were booked by the Cyberabad Police for driving under the influence of alcohol during the weekend. Of the total cases registered, 248 were two-wheeler riders, 23 were three-wheeler drivers, 54 were operating four-wheelers, and four were behind the wheels of heavy vehicles. As per the data shared by the police, as many as 283 drivers registered Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels between 35 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 37 individuals had BAC readings between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while nine were found with dangerously high levels between 301 mg/100 ml and 500 mg/100 ml. The Cyberabad Police warned that in cases where an inebriated driver causes a fatal crash, they will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The section carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison along with a fine. Police urged citizens to refrain from drunk driving to help maintain safety on the roads.
