‘I keep attracting women towards my men': Bhumi Pednekar on love triangles, emotional ease, and being whole without a partner

Indian Express26-05-2025

Bhumi Pednekar has always been vocal about her views on relationships, and in a recent interview, she shared her stance on love, monogamy, and self-contentment.
While promoting her upcoming film Mere Husband Ki Biwi, she revealed to News18 Showsha that she is 'very possessive' in relationships and firmly believes in monogamy. She stated, 'I don't know what is it about me and the roles I do. I keep attracting the women towards my men. But in real life, I'm very possessive in a relationship. I completely believe in the institution of monogamy. So, there's no chance that I can tolerate a love triangle.'
However, she also emphasised that while she is open to falling in love, she is equally comfortable with the idea of not having a man in her life, finding happiness in her own space. 'If I fall in love, then great. Even if it doesn't happen, I'm okay with it. When you're so happy in life, you feel complete on your own. But what I look for in a relationship is comfort. I want a relationship where I can just be myself with the person. Ease is really important,' she said.
The actor added that more than any other relationship, she believes in the power of sisterhood, mentioning, 'As women, we all have shared experiences. We all, in a larger bracket, fall towards the same end. And those shared experiences automatically create a lot of empathy for each other. There's this unsaid sisterhood where we know that we've each other's back through thick and thin.'

Gurleen Baruah, existential psychotherapist at That Culture Thing, tells indianexpress.com, 'Possessiveness in relationships is a natural human experience — even the most secure individuals can feel it at times. It often stems from a fear of loss, a need for certainty, or past wounds that make us crave control. But relationships, like emotions, are fluid; trying to 'hold on tightly' can create anxiety, resentment, and a sense of suffocation for both partners. Instead of suppressing these feelings, acknowledging them with self-awareness helps.'
Managing possessiveness in a healthy way means recognising that emotions come and go, she adds, reflecting on where the insecurity is rooted, and trusting both yourself and your partner. Love thrives in spaciousness — when it's about trust and freedom rather than control, it becomes more fulfilling and secure.
Baruah states, 'Being comfortable with being single isn't inherently good or bad — it depends on how one engages with it and what meaning they attach to solitude. From an existential lens, solitude is a fundamental part of human existence. At its best, it allows deep self-awareness, emotional independence, and a strong sense of identity. It teaches resilience, helps people understand their needs beyond societal expectations, and fosters the ability to be alone without feeling lonely — an essential skill for any meaningful relationship.'
However, she stresses that excessive comfort in solitude can also make it harder to share life with someone else. 'Relationships require adaptability, compromise, and openness to different perspectives—things that prolonged independence might make challenging. Some may struggle to let others in or find it difficult to embrace the uncertainty that comes with intimacy.'

Prosenjit Chatterjee On Sitaare Zameen Par's Theatre-Only Release: 'Aamir Can Take Risks'

Last Updated: Aamir Khan's decision to delay the OTT release of Sitaare Zameen Par is praised by Prosenjit Chatterjee, who believes Aamir understands audience sensibilities. Aamir Khan's film, Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to his beloved 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, finally released on June 20, 2025. The film, inspired by the Spanish hit Champions (2018), has been receiving rave reviews. The Bollywood superstar has decided that his latest film will never be released on any streaming platform. It will have a theatre-only release. Now, Prosenjit Chatterjee has lauded Aamir Khan for his approach to filmmaking. In a conversation with India Today, the veteran actor remarked that Aamir 'can take the risk" because he 'understands the pulse and sensibilities of the audiences." However, he also noted, 'nothing will change." Prosenjit said, 'He can take the risk. He has been serving the industry for many years, and he understands the pulse and sensibilities of the audiences." However, Prosenjit believes that Aamir's bold move is unlikely to bring about any real change. 'To save the theatrical business and cinema, he (Aamir Khan) is a person who can think this way or take this kind of risk. Nothing will change, a film will come on OTT and then on satellite television. That's how it works, that's how we reach our Indian audiences. But let's see how this goes (Sitaare Zameen Par's only-cinema model), and I hope it works," added Prosenjit. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha earlier, Aamir Khan had shared his thoughts on how the fast shift to OTT after the pandemic has affected theatre business. He explained that releasing films too soon online takes away from the cinema experience, and he strongly believes that good films deserve to be seen on the big screen. In a candid conversation, Aamir Khan reflected on how the rise of OTT platforms has impacted the theatrical experience. 'I don't know any business where you offer your product, and if someone doesn't buy it, you tell them—don't worry, I'll drop it at your house for free in eight weeks," Aamir said, adding, 'It doesn't make sense to me. That's the reason many films aren't doing well in theatres." He described the current situation as a 'famine and feast" model where either a few films do extremely well or most don't work at all. He believes the early OTT release trend has weakened the theatrical culture and, therefore, made a conscious choice to keep his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par exclusive to theatres. 'I believe in theatres. I believe in my audience. If you make a good film, people will come to watch it on the big screen." Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy drama film directed by R. S. Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar will make their Hindi cinema debut with the film. Bhumi Pednekar Indulged In Special Coffee, Rajasthani Thali, And More In Udaipur

Another day, another update from Bhumi Pednekar's Udaipur diaries. Today, the focus is on her scrumptious culinary outings. Recently, the actress shared a couple of pictures on her Instagram Stories, offering a glimpse of her morning coffee and delicious lunch later on. The first picture showed The Royals actress sipping on the aromatic beverage in a beautifully decorated cup and saucer that looked nothing short of regal. But it was no ordinary coffee. It came with a striking latte art featuring a portrait of Bhumi herself. She enjoyed the drink while soaking in the beauty of the palace and distant hills. We could feel the bliss through the snap. Watch the full story below: On the next slide featuring her gastronomical adventure in the City of Lakes, Bhumi Pednekar treated herself to a wholesome and authentic Rajasthani thali. Served on a traditional plate was a bowl of rice, kaali dal and bhindi fry. We also spotted ker sangri, a type of vegetable dish made from ker — a wild, tangy-sour berry and sangri — a bean that comes from the Khejri tree. A separate bowl featured gatte ki sabzi, another vegetable curry prepared from gram flour dumplings. It has a yummy and creamy, yogurt-based curry. Bhumi Pednekar also relished the Rajasthani staple — dal-bati-churma. Each of the items was presented on three different plates. Phew! Bhumi skipped a fancy caption and simply added a smiley emoji, which perfectly encapsulated how much she enjoyed her meal. Watch Bhumi Pednekar's Instagram story below: Bhumi Pednekar is a fan of desi cuisine. On another page, the actress indulged in some home-cooked specialities. She sat in front of a table which was loaded with an array of food, including yellow dal, rice, crispy vadas and Usal. FYI: Usal is a typical Maharashtrian curry made from legumes and usually served with rice or pav (bread rolls). This is a must-try for spice-lovers. Bhumi ended her culinary session on a sweet note by devouring modaks. Read all about it here. We would love to see more of Bhumi Pednekar's foodie moments.

Vir Das Calls Sitaare Zameen Par 'Funny', Lauds Aamir Khan's Film: 'The Best Comedy'

Last Updated: Vir Das says Sitaare Zameen Par takes away everyone from the constant "action overload" in the Indian films. Comedian Vir Das is really impressed with Aamir Khan's latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par. On Saturday morning, he took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle and praised the makers for bringing something fresh and 'meaningful" for the audience. Vir Das called the film 'the best comedy" and stated that it takes away everyone from the constant 'action overload". He also urged everyone to visit the theatres and watch the movie. 'Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar Not just because it's REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it's someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it's a departure from the action overload. But also because it's genuinely funny. In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That's basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn't. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now," he wrote. Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar Not just because it's REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart.
