RANAU: The Second Edition of the Sungai, Talantang and Tinagas (Sutati) Ethnic Festival held in Ulu Sugut Ranau has become a successful platform that promotes peace and unity among the people of various backgrounds here. Chairman of Kundasang Community Development Leader (PPM), Dounis Sani, said organising such ethnic festivals is in line with the aspirations of the State Government.
Advertisement He said the GRS government is committed to strengthening the role of ethnic associations in preserving language, tradition and culture as the heritage of the younger generation. He urged the people in Kundasang to continue to practice the spirit of harmony. Dounis said the advantage of having a representative who also holds the position of Deputy Chief Minister and Full Minister provides great benefits in terms of the ability to channel allocations. 'This not only facilitates the organisation of such programmes, but also opens up more development opportunities for Kundasang,' he said. He was representing Deputy Chief Minister II, who is also Kundasang Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam. Various interesting activities were held throughout the festival, including cultural performances, exhibitions, traditional sports, water activities, Sugandoi Sutati competitions, Sutati Concerts and the Sutati 'Masaan' night event that colored the atmosphere throughout the programme. This edition also introduced a new element through Sutati 'Masaan', which was a performance by ethnic girls in the Unduk Ngadau style that highlighted the uniqueness and beauty of traditional culture. For the first time, the organisers also introduced the Sutati Tokoh Award to recognise individual contributions in preserving their respective ethnic cultures. Lawsuit issue: Fazura leaves it to her lawyers

Despite being repeatedly pressed by the claimant as well as by netizens on social media to address the issue, the celebrity has remained silent, going about her daily life, including promoting her headscarves on social media. Speaking to reporters at a press conference after launching the music video of her latest single 'Luar Biasa' here last night, Fazura, 41, said the lawsuit against her company is a confidential matter and has been handed over to her lawyers for further action. Fazura, who is also a singer and television host, said she preferred not to comment further as it involves two separate entities. "Honestly, there's nothing I can explain because we have to understand that I, Fazura, and the company are two different entities. I can't comment on company matters as that is beyond my scope as an individual. The company is the company, and Fazura is me personally, that's the distinction. "So really, I can't say much about the company or whatever is going on. I've left all my company-related matters to my lawyers to take action," she said. Fazura made these remarks when asked by reporters to comment on the RM4.65 million lawsuit filed by a headscarf supplier against her company Pink Fate Sdn Bhd. Advertisement Admitting that she is affected by the controversy, the 'Pisau Cukur' star said such issues are among the challenges any entrepreneur must face. "What haven't I gone through in the past eight months? Of course, I've been affected. I'm not someone without feelings but as an entrepreneur, I understand this is normal. I don't think it's necessary to explain, because outsiders may not understand and could twist the facts," she said. "I know the business I'm running isn't a small one and I'm confident all entrepreneurs out there will understand the challenges that come with being in the business world," she added. According to media reports early last month, headscarf manufacturer Obor Holding Sdn Bhd is taking legal action against Pink Fate for allegedly owing the company RM4.65 million. Veteran singer Zaleha Hamid dies

Kuala Lumpur: Veteran singer Zaleha Hamid, who rose to fame in the 1980s, died due to a lung infection at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru at about 8.30 pm today. She was 70. Her husband, Ungku Sulaiman Ungku Aziz, confirmed the news when contacted by Bernama. Advertisement 'My wife was admitted to the hospital on the second day of Hari Raya Aidiladha. Around 6 pm today, she began experiencing shortness of breath while we were feeding her milk through a tube. 'She had been bedridden since suffering a stroke in 2020,' he said. Ungku Sulaiman said her remains will be laid to rest at the Kassim Noor Muslim Cemetery in Kampung Sungai Danga, Johor Bahru after Friday prayers tomorrow. Besides her husband, Zaleha is survived by three children and six grandchildren. His sister, Jalene Bell, confirmed the news on social media and in a family statement released on Sunday, without disclosing the cause of death. Advertisement Bell played the 'Shave Ice Guy,' a sunburned beachgoer who drops his dessert in shock when aliens appear, in a running gag revived from the original 2002 film. Although the role was his first in a feature film, Bell had previously acted in episodes of Hawaii Five-0 and the Magnum P.I. reboot. He was also cast in the upcoming film The Wrecking Crew, a murder mystery set in Hawaii, according to his IMDb profile. Bell gained recognition in Hawaii through his appearances in Kona Brewing Company's 'One Life, Right?' commercials, which won a 2025 Pele Award.
