Who was Saeed Izadi? Israeli airstrikes kill Iranian commander behind October 7 Hamas attack
Israel Iran Conflict: The Israeli military said on Saturday that it had killed Saeed Izadi, a veteran commander in the overseas arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, in an attack inside an apartment in Iran's Qom province. Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz in a statement said that Izadi was the leader of the Palestine Corps of the overseas arm, also known as Quds Force. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) also released a statement later, confirming the details of the killing as well as Izadi. 'Saeed Izadi, a founder of the Iranian regime's plan to destroy Israel, was eliminated in a precise IDF strike in the area of Qom,' the IDF said in a post on X. The news comes as the conflict between Israel and Iran entered its ninth day, when Tel Aviv launched a massive wave of strikes on Iran, arguing that Tehran was on the verge of developing nuclear weapons. The Israeli military said in its statement that Saeed Izadi was the commander of the Palestine Corps of the Quds Force – which acts as a key coordinator between the Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the Iranian regime. 'Izadi was also the commander of the Palestine Corps of the Quds Force, a key coordinator between the Iranian regime and Hamas, and one of the main orchestrators of the October 7 massacre,' it said. He was responsible for military coordination between the senior commanders of the IRGC and the Iranian regime with key figures in Hamas. The military further said, 'As part of his role, Izadi was responsible for increasing the financial funding from Iran to Hamas for terrorist activities against Israel.' During the Israel Palestine war, Saeed Izadi was also responsible for directing Hamas forces operating from Lebanon. 'Since then, he has been committed to rebuilding Hamas' military wing and ensuring that Hamas remains the controlling authority in Gaza,' the IDF said in the statement. Izadi maintained direct contact with Palestinian terror organisations in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, the Israeli military claimed. The Israeli military campaign has combined targeted assassinations of key Iranian military personnel, destruction of Iran's air defences and repeated strikes on nuclear sites.

A deadly race for food: Palestinians in Gaza risk harrowing journey day after day
KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip: Each day, Palestinians in Gaza run a deadly gantlet in hopes of getting food. Israeli troops open barrages of gunfire toward crowds crossing military zones to get to the aid, they say, and knife-wielding thieves wait to ambush those who succeed. Palestinians say lawlessness is growing as they are forced into a competition to feed their families. A lucky few manage to secure some packets of lentils, a jar of Nutella or a bag of flour. Many return empty-handed and must attempt the ordeal again the next day. 'This isn't aid. It's humiliation. It's death,' said Jamil Atili, his face shining with sweat as he made his way back last week from a food center run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an Israeli-backed private contractor. He had suffered a knife cut across his cheek amid the scramble for food and said a contractor guard pepper-sprayed him in the face. Still, he emerged with nothing for his 13 family members. 'I have nothing to feed my children,' he said, nearly crying. 'My heart is broken.' Israel began allowing food into Gaza this past month after cutting it off completely for 10 weeks, though United Nations officials say it is not enough to stave off starvation. Most of the supplies go to GHF, which operates four food distribution points inside Israeli military zones. A trickle of aid goes to the U.N. and humanitarian groups. Both systems are mired in chaos. Daily gunfire by Israeli troops toward crowds on the roads heading to the GHF centers has killed several hundred people and wounded hundreds more in past weeks, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. At the same time, in past weeks, hungry crowds overwhelm most of the U.N.'s truck convoys and strip away the supplies. Israeli troops have opened fire to disperse crowds waiting for trucks near military zones, witnesses say — and on Tuesday, more than 50 people were killed, according to the ministry. The Israeli military says it is investigating. 'I don't see how it can get any worse, because it is already apocalyptic. But somehow it does get worse,' said Olga Cherevko, spokesperson for the U.N. humanitarian affairs office.

Who Was Saeed Izadi, Iranian Commander Behind Hamas' Oct 7 Attack, Killed In Israeli Strikes?
Saeed Izadi was the head of the Palestinian division in the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force, who allegedly facilitated financial assistance to Hamas to carry out the Oct 7 attack. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Saturday confirmed that Saeed Izadi, head of the Palestinian division in the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force, had been killed in an overnight strike in the Iranian city of Qom. 'Saeed Izadi, a founder of the Iranian regime's plan to destroy Israel, was eliminated in a precise IDF strike in the area of Qom," said the IDF on X. Israel Defence Minister, Israel Katz, had earlier confirmed Izadi's death in overnight Israeli strikes in Qom. This came as Israel's war with Iran has entered its second week with Israel's foreign minister saying its strikes have delayed Tehran's potential to develop a nuclear weapon by at least two or three years. Israel's army chief warned that the country could be engaged in a 'prolonged campaign" against Iran. Who Was Saeed Izadi? According to the Israeli military, Izadi was the commander of the Palestine Corps of the Quds Force, a key coordinator between the Iranian regime and Hamas, and one of the main orchestrators of the October 7 attack in 2023, in which 1,200 people were killed. The attack sparked a deadly war in Gaza that left over 54,000 Palestinians dead. 'He was responsible for military coordination between the senior commanders of the IRGC and the Iranian regime with key figures in Hamas. As part of his role, Izadi was responsible for increasing the financial funding from Iran to Hamas for terrorist activities against Israel," said the Israeli military. Izadi was also allegedly responsible for directing Hamas forces operating from Lebanon and his efforts were directed to rebuilding Hamas' military wing and ensuring that Hamas remains the controlling authority in Gaza. Katz said Izadi 'funded and armed Hamas" ahead of the October 7 attacks. He called Izadi's death a 'huge achievement for Israeli intelligence" and 'justice for murdered civilians and hostages".
