Boy, 15, held on suspicion of carrying firearm

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after reports of someone carrying what was believed to be a firearm in their pocket in Liverpool.
Members of the public contacted officers following the incident in Merthyr Grove, Childwall, at about 15:00 BST, Merseyside Police said.
There was no suggestion the item was used to threaten or harm anyone, the force added.
The teenager, from Childwall, was arrested in nearby in Chelwood Avenue on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate.
Detectives are speaking to potential witnesses and analysing CCTV from the area.
Det Insp Mike Fletcher said: "We are grateful to the members of the public who reported this incident and we have been able to make a swift arrest as a result.
"Officers will remain in the area conducting an extensive search as we seek to get a full understanding of what happened."

Man in high vis jacket hunted after Post Office robbery

A man in a high-vis jacket is being hunted after an early morning robbery. Forensic officers were seen working at the Post Office in Bootle Strand yesterday as they investigated the raid which saw a "significant quantity of cash" taken. Merseyside Police confirmed it received reports at around 9.10am that a man had grabbed hold of a member of staff and demanded cash at the branch in the Strand Shopping Centre. The man is described as wearing a hi-vis orange jacket, grey trousers, a backpack and a baseball cap, with his face covered. He was reported to have left the scene on foot with a significant amount of cash in grey sacks before getting into the passenger side of a Ford Transit van parked on Jersey Street which then drove off. Officers attended and forensic examinations were carried out at the scene, as well as CCTV and witness enquiries. "We have been carrying out a number of enquiries to establish exactly what happened and trace those responsible for this robbery. "This includes examination of CCTV footage and forensic enquiries, and we would be keen to hear from anyone who might have dashcam footage or CCTV in that area. "We also appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident itself or who saw the offenders acting suspiciously to get in touch.' Suspect named after car hits people outside pub

A man has been charged with multiple offences after a Ford Focus collided with a number of people following an incident outside a pub. Merseyside Police were called to a disturbance outside the Queens Arms pub on Black Brow in Huyton at around 6.20pm yesterday, Sunday, June 15. Following enquiries it was identified that a white Ford Focus had been involved in a collision with a number of pedestrians, causing a serious ankle injury to a 61-year-old man. He has been taken to hospital for treatment. It was reported the Ford Focus had made off from the scene, and after conducting enquiries officers located the vehicle and arrested a man. Man seriously hurt in stabbing in street attack

A man has been seriously injured in a stabbing during a fight on a Greater Manchester street. Officers were called to reports of an altercation near the Daisyfield Inn on Keb Lane, Oldham, at about 11:40 BST, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. A man suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital for treatment while another man received a minor hand injury, the force said. GMP said three men were arrested on suspicion of affray offences. A cordon remains in place at the scene and the road is closed while police investigate.
