Riveiro reflects on missed chances as Al Ahly settle for a point

Al Ahly forward Wessam Abou Ali believes the Egyptian giants "dropped two points" after being held to a goalless draw by Inter Miami in their opening Group A match at the FIFA Club World Cup in Miami.
The Palestinian striker, who had a first-half goal disallowed for offside, reflected on a frustrating night in front of goal for the CAF Champions League winners.
'We could have scored three or four goals in the first half,' Abou Ali said.
'Unfortunately, we didn't take our chances to get the win… our fans were amazing and gave us a real boost, but it wasn't to be.'
The game marked Jose Riveiro's first competitive match as Al Ahly head coach, and the Spaniard echoed his striker's frustration.
'We made some mistakes and missed some good chances today,' he admitted.
'We were in control in the first half, but our performance dipped a bit in the second, when we had some issues in transition and misplaced a few passes.' Missed penalty proves decisive
Al Ahly were awarded a penalty shortly before half-time after substitute Ahmed 'Zizo' Mostafa was brought down, but Mahmoud Hassan 'Trezeguet' saw his effort saved by Inter Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari — a moment that ultimately denied the Red Eagles all three points.

Veteran goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy was called into action repeatedly in the second half as the MLS side grew in confidence.
'Inter Miami are a great side,' he said.
'We did what we needed to in the first half, but the humidity and the pressure affected us after the break. At least we got a draw in the end.'

The result leaves both sides on a point each in Group A, where Palmeiras and Porto complete the field.
Al Ahly next face the Brazilian champions on 19 June, a match they may now need to win to keep realistic hopes of qualification alive.
'We're going to work hard to prepare,' said Abou Ali. 'Palmeiras will be tough, but hopefully luck will be on our side in our next games.'

Bellingham strikes as Dortmund sink Mamelodi Sundowns
The English midfielder, who this month followed older brother Jude's footsteps in joining the German side, started for the first time for Dortmund. Sundowns of South Africa took a surprise early lead but Dortmund hit back strongly to triumph in sweltering conditions in Cincinnati at the TQL Stadium and move top of Group F. Dortmund coach Niko Kovac had claimed teams from the "south" had an advantage because of the heat, and the Sundowns 11th minute opener appeared to confirm his fears. Lucas Ribeiro's fine solo goal put the CAF Champions League runners-up ahead, with the Brazilian charging forward from his own half before beating Gregor Kobel. However Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams handed Dortmund their equaliser on a plate, passing the ball straight to Felix Nmecha, who stroked home. Both stoppers made good saves in an end-to-end clash before Dortmund claimed the lead through striker Serhou Guirassy. Dortmund won the ball high up the pitch and Julian Brandt crossed for the Guinea international to score with a fine leap and header, continuing his fine form this season. Bellingham, who joined earlier in June from Sunderland for 33 million euros ($37 million), netted Dortmund's third just before the break. Williams parried a cross into his path and after controlling on his chest, Bellingham drilled home. His brother Jude signed for Dortmund five years ago, before joining Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2023.
