Trump To Decide On US entry Into Iran Conflict Within Two Weeks

WASHINGTON, June 20 (Bernama-dpa) -- US President Donald Trump is to make a decision on joining Israeli strikes against Iran within two weeks, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
Trump believes "there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future" that could avert the US entry into the conflict, Leavitt said in Washington.
"Nobody should be surprised by the president's position that Iran absolutely cannot obtain a nuclear weapon. He's been unequivocally clear about this for decades," she added.

Create A Special Police Ministry For PDRM - Razarudin Husain, Outgoing IGP

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) – The outgoing 14th Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has proposed that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) be placed under a dedicated ministry to strengthen the operations and management of the 130,000-strong force. He said the proposal had been submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Home Ministry for consideration, noting that it is an administrative structure common in other countries such as China, Brazil, Vietnam, South Korea as well as Brunei, to be on par with key sectors such as health and defence. 'I see this need as an important resolution to ensure PDRM continues to be relevant, in line with the evolution of today's globalisation and digital era. 'I am optimistic that this (special ministry) will bring about positive change and great improvement in empowering public service for the common good,' he said when speaking at the Handover of Duties Ceremony of the Inspector-General of Police at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur today. Earlier at the ceremony, Bukit Aman Special Branch director Datuk Mohd Khalid Ismail was appointed as the 15th IGP to replace Razarudin effective today. The ceremony was witnessed by Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and was also attended by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and senior PDRM officers. In his speech, Razarudin expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support from various parties throughout his tenure as the head of the security forces since June 2023 and throughout his more than 42 years of service in PDRM. The Dengkil-born native also reminded all members to continue upholding integrity and make the value of good governance the core of service delivery. 'As is well known, the problems of integrity, corruption, misconduct and abuse of power still plague the image and create a stigma for the force and its personnel.

Perlis Forms Special Task Force To Recover Revenue From Leased Land, Buildings

KANGAR, June 20 (Bernama) -- A special task force led by Perlis state secretary Datuk Rahimi Ismail has been formed to address revenue leakages related to the rental of state land and buildings. Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the task force is responsible for identifying and collecting data on premises and assets involved in the leakages, as well as coordinating actions to ensure that lost revenue can be recovered. 'Among the task force's early achievements is identifying revenue leakages involving four departments/agencies. Through these initial actions, the total leakage identified has reached RM1.5 million. '...with an estimated RM800,000 expected to be recovered by the end of 2025. This effort will continue to involve other departments," he said during the monthly assembly of the state administration here today. Mohd Shukri said the task force is also in the process of preparing a Premises Usage Management Guideline, which has been reviewed by the State Legal Adviser's Office and is now being examined by the Perlis State Land and Mines Office (PTG) for feedback. Mohd Shukri said the task force was formed following a January audit committee meeting that called for immediate action to ensure rental income from state-owned properties collected by third parties is returned to the state. Issues related to the rental of state land and buildings include activities conducted without valid contracts or agreements, violations of existing regulations, encroachments on government-owned land and the rental of assets that do not provide reasonable returns to the state, he added. 'This situation not only causes revenue loss but also reflects non-compliance with the laws and regulations in place,' he said. -- BERNAMA

Iran Says Ending War Depends On Israel Ceasing Airstrikes Without Conditions

ISTANBUL, June 20 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday that the only path to ending the current war is for Israel to cease its airstrikes unconditionally, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported. "We have always pursued peace and stability," Pezeshkian said in a statement, according to Iranian media. He noted that 'under the current circumstances, lasting peace will only be possible if the Zionist enemy ceases its hostilities and provides firm guarantees to end its terrorist provocations.'
