It would be silly *not* to buy this TikTok-famous $6 rollerball just to try out the oh-so-delicious scent for yourself.
1. Neutrogena's brand new Collagen Bank Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 30, which is so good at its job that it is doing double duty as skin protection *and* skincare in one bottle. In other words, you can slather it on in the morning as a one-step reliable beauty routine and know that you're keeping your skin safe from day to day and helping brighten your complexion in the longterm. Bonus: This is so lightweight that it functions as a perfect base primer for makeup!
www.amazon.com
Note that the AAD recommends using at least SPF 30 and reapplying as needed for skin protection. You can read about sunscreen myths and facts from dermatologists for more information!
Promising review:"I've been using this for a few weeks now, and I'm thrilled with the results! This moisturizer is a gamechanger in my skincare routine. The formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly, leaving my skin feeling hydrated without any greasy residue. What I love most is how it enhances my skin's natural glow and softness. The collagen boost helps firm and plump my skin, making it look and feel more youthful. It 's a fantastic base for makeup and keeps my skin looking fresh all day." — Gizem Atkan
Get it from Amazon for $19.97.
2. E.l.f.'s Hydrating Core Lip Shine in the "Ecstatic" shade, which reviewers say captures the same magic as " Black Honey," the $25 ~universal shade~ from Clinique that's blowing up on TikTok at a fraction of the price. It doesn't shift colors as magically as the other version, but it's a perfect, non-sticky "go-to" lip to stay hydrated all day long.
www.amazon.com, www.amazon.com
I personally will live, breathe, and die by the magic of $25 "universal" Black Honey version — it lasts FOREVER and also functions as the perfect blush — but it sells out so often that I am also deeply relieved to know it has a cheap alternative in case of lip emergency!
Promising review: "I absolutely love this product. The dark color is perfectly sheer. It also adds the most beautiful color to your lips. I am a Clinique Black Honey lip fan, and this gives me the same look for a fraction of the cost. I love it and have multiple that I keep in various spots. Not sticky either, which is my biggest gripe about lip glosses. My hair doesn't get stuck in this like some glosses, but I get the shine." — Hamps5
Get it from Amazon for $6 (also available in six other shades).
3. Olay Super Serum Body Wash that will make anyone with dry or dull cold weather skin REJOICE — this is packed with niacinamide, shea butter, and collagen peptides to nourish your skin for 24-hour hydration that will make you feel ~luminous~. (Psst — this is the body wash version of their TikTok-famous, super effective facial Super Serum, so you KNOW they mean business.)
www.instagram.com, Amazon
Promising review:"I recently tried the Olay Super Serum Body Wash, and I am absolutely in love with it! The formula is incredibly hydrating, leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth after every use. It lathers beautifully and has a lovely, light fragrance that isn't overpowering. After just a few uses, I noticed my skin looked more radiant and felt deeply moisturized. The addition of serums in the body wash is a game-changer my skin feels nourished, and I no longer need to apply lotion right after showering. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a luxurious, skin-loving body wash!" — Darina
Get it from Amazon for $12.97.
4. Catrice "Instant Awake" Under Eye Brightener, which became the internet's holy grail — now in four shades! — for concealing and brightening dark circles under your eyes so fast that everyone's old concealers are doing double takes. This lightweight color-adapting formula is designed for truly ~invisible~ coverage that makes a drastic difference.
www.amazon.com, www.amazon.com
The color-adaptive formula is designed so one of two shades will work on any skin tone.
Promising review: "Took years off my eyes! This product is so reasonably priced. I came across a TikTok promoting this and decided to take a chance since the price was super reasonable. My eyes looked brighter in a good way, and the concealer worked so well that I felt I looked younger. I got compliments from friends asking what I did differently with my makeup. I recommend it." — Monica T.
Get it from Amazon for $6 (available in four shades).

GO LITTLE MOISTURIZER GO!!
Promising review:"My skin feels like the bottom of a newborn. This is so great. The natural ingredients are the best and it leaves my skin with a natural glow and softness that I have never felt before. I have aging skin and it is just a great product. I use it on my face and my hair on wash days. I am going to order three more just so I don't run out." — Divine
Get it from Amazon for $12.99 (also available in three- and six-packs).
8. E.l.f's Lash XTNDR Tubing Mascara, a GODSEND for anyone with thin or fragile lashes. This uses lightweight ~tubing~ technology to wrap around lashes and give them a natural-looking, smudge-proof extension so good it almost looks fake. The real boon, though, is how easily the "tubes" slide off in clean, easy swipes at the end of the day when you're washing your face — absolutely no smudging, over-scrubbing, or special eye makeup removal products required.
Check out a TikTok of the E.l.f. tubing mascara in action.
I am not a new human to the tubing mascara game, and in fact readily spent $26 on the famous OG blend from Blinc every time it needed replacing. I didn't even love it for the length half as much as the fact that tubing mascara like this genuinely never smudges, but can I just say — regardless of price, the E.l.f. tubing mascara formula blows all the others I've tried out of the water. It gives me way more length and volume than other brands, slides on so much more easily, stays put ALL day, and never, ever smudges. My favorite part, though, is how gently and easily it comes off with soap and water. In the past, other mascara removals have felt rough on my lashes, but this comes off so fast that I'm like ??? was I even wearing mascara a minute ago?? Anyway, I hesitate even writing this review because I want to gatekeep the hell out of this before it sells out, but the world needed to know. I'm a big fan of the brown shade (which is what I'm wearing above!), but it also comes in black and soft black.
Get it from Amazon for $7 (available in three shades).
9. An airtight Deli ProKeeper so beloved that it's gone viral on FridgeTok (if you know, you KNOW). Not only does this free up space and clutter in the fridge, but it keeps deli meat and cheese so fresh that you'll actually get your darn money's worth by preventing waste.
www.amazon.com
Promising review: "I bought this because I have the outlandish idea that my refrigerator will look just like those on TikTok, but I am pleasantly surprised to find that it keeps my cold cuts fresher for much longer than expected. It's large enough to hold a pound or more of cold cuts or cheese, which is a bonus. The sealing technology is superb and strong. At one point, I almost could not open the container due to the seal being so air tight. Not only does this product look good in my fridge, but it is saving me money, so definitely a win-win from me." — IrishEyes
Get it from Amazon for $21.95 (available in three styles).
10. Deeptalk, a compact three-year prompted gratitude journal loaded with quick, gentle check-in prompts that won't overwhelm you like a lot of other journals. It's undated, so you can start it any day you want, and then as the years pass you can reflect on how your mindsets are changing and evolving over time.
Promising review: "I'm a stay at home mom, and I've found myself in a slump lately not knowing much about me anymore. I REALLY love this book. Since the moment I've opened it, I've loved every thing about it. It has helped me actually sit down at night, and think (with the questions) when it comes to my life, and where I am in life right now. I love answering the questions, and being able to check off my mood for the day. I can't wait to see how much my life/mindset changes during the year. I also love that it's a hard cover book so I don't have to worry about it bending up in my purse." — Hope M.
Get it from Amazon for $19.99 (available in two colors).
11. A TikTok-beloved "Soft" perfume rollerball that honestly has no right smelling so delectable and layering so well considering it's only five cash dollars. Reviewers are obsessed with the scent's warm sweetness with a hint of citrusy zest, comparing it to waffle cones, lemon pound cake, and warm vanilla scones ... and this $65 bottle of Pink Sugar 👀.
Promising review: "Like so many, I found this scent on TikTok. I was a bit skeptical at first but finally got around to trying it. First off, this scent smells amazing! Almost every time I've worn it, I receive compliments. It has a sweet smell, almost like warm cake or sugar cookies with a hint of lemon. With such an affordable price, I would definitely recommend this to anyone curious about trying it." — Chrissy
Get it from Amazon for $5.27 (available in two styles).
12. MagicMinerals AirBrush Foundation, which lives up to its name and THEN some — one quick spray of the foundation on the included brush, and it glides so smoothly and subtly over your skin texture that you'll feel like a makeup artist did it for you. Reviewers in their thirties, forties, and up especially swear by this lightweight but effective formula, and love that it's ridiculously easy to use.
www.amazon.com, www.amazon.com
Jerome Alexander is a small business that specializes in airbrush cosmetic products.
HELLO — I found this through a recommendation on a Reddit beauty forum for people in their thirties, and I am OBSESSED. I am not very skilled with makeup and was intimidated by the brush factor, but it's nearly foolproof. This foundation straight-up glosses over my pores and redness and makes my skin look so even-toned and natural that it doesn't look like I used much foundation at all. It's a bit price-y compared to brands I used in the past, but I'm still on my first bottle of it, and it's been three full months. I hope this never stops getting made. It is so lightweight and lovely and has made my makeup routine feel like a TREAT.
Promising review: "Bought this because I saw it on TikTok, and it did not disappoint. I love the lightweight feel of it and how easy it is to build." — Smickens
Get it from Amazon for $19.99 (available in 12 shades).
13. Murdle, Volume 1, a true essential for anyone who relaxes to true crime podcasts or Only Murders in the Building. The book is full of 100 mystery-themed logic puzzles with four different levels of difficulty that they can do solo or with pals, and in order or out of order (although if they do it in order, they get the full scoop on Deductive Logico and Inspector Irratino, whose hilarious misadventures guide you through the book).
www.amazon.com
Check out a TikTok of Murdle in action.
The best part?? Once you finish "Murdling," you can use your sleuthing skills on Volume 2, Volume 3, and a whole BUNCH of other themed Murdle books!
Promising review: "The puzzles are a lot of fun but the characters, story lines, and other details take the Murdle experience to another level. I have no idea how the author came up with all of this creativeness! You can Murdle solo or with friends. I look forward to future volumes but this one will keep me busy for awhile!" — Liz Gately
Get it from Amazon for $10.25.
14. A set of delightfully ~~tingly~~ self-heating soothing foot masks made with Epsom salts, lavender, and peppermint perfect for anyone whose recent step count is "too many." Nothing like a lil' self-care on those aching feet to lift your spirits!
Check out a TikTok of the foot masks in action.
I'm a long-ish distance runner, and these were certainly an interesting experience for my feet! You slide them on and, after a few minutes, feel a tingling, mildly burning (in a good way) sensation. It doesn't quite numb your feet, but it relaxes them. I kept them on for 30 minutes and then toweled my feet off, and the tingling sensation slowly faded over the next 30 minutes. After that, my feet felt very refreshed and relaxed at a time of day when they're usually aching from all the miles I put in. The whole thing was a mess-free, easy process, and I will definitely keep them on hand for longer run days!
Promising review:"Very soothing. My husband and l used these on our European vacation, and they definitely felt good on our feet!" — KS2018
Get a set of three pairs from Amazon for $10.77.
15. Lumify Eye Drops, a product so beloved by TikTok that despite being more $$ than other brands, it's the number one selling brand on Amazon right now. Reviewers swear by this for instant reduction in redness in their eyes, with visible differences within a minute of use.
www.amazon.com
Learn more about different kinds of eye drops and what they can do at Cleveland Clinic. Note that eye drops can potentially mask symptoms of eye conditions, so you should talk to your eye doctor about what's right for you. And according to Mayo Clinic, you should avoid redness-reducing drops if you're looking for dry eye relief.
Promising review:"I have a big spot of blood vessels in the inner corner of my left eye. I use the expensive lubricant eye drops for moisture — I've used Visine, Clear Eyes, you name it. No eye drop has made my eyes look this great. Only Lumify! I was soo happy when I looked in the mirror and saw some beauty in my eyes instead of darkness and redness." — Angela Leonard
Get it from Amazon for $11.97.
16. A dimmable flexible clip-on mushroom light so versatile that it'll become your Emotional Support Shroom — this gizmo clips to desks, cribs, bedside tables, and computer monitors to give an ambient, soft glow that's easy on the eyeballs when you're trying to focus. (Also, it's just so darn precious??)
Reviewers especially love this lamp for small spaces, since it doesn't take up valuable surface area!
Promising review: "I love the way the light looks and the multiple colors, but honestly I love the flexibility of the neck. I can manipulate it to fit the function of what I am doing. I have used it as reading light and mood light by the bed. I had no problem reading my book at night. I have used it as a task light to do arts and crafts. More recently, I have used it at work and it now has a permanent spot at my desk. The light was a great value for the money for me." — Terese
Get it from Amazon for $35.99.
17. A deliciously soothing, super gentle Briotech spray reviewers compare to the pricier Tower 28 SOS Spray. It's similarly designed with hypochlorous acid, which targets bacteria that causes acne, skin irritation, and blemishes *without* drying your skin. Reviewers swear by this handy little spray for helping not just with acne, but rosacea, eczema, dryness, dermatitis (scalp included!), and even toenail fungus.
Promising review: "This spray is amazing. I had a rash on my face and it disappeared after one use of this spray. I had a stye in my eye and the skin around the eye was irritated. This spray fixed not only the irritation but the stye went away as well. Any sort of blemish or acne is taken care of with this simple inexpensive spray. Great for after-sun care or workout redness. Everyone loves Tower 28's expensive SOS spray. The SOS spray contains hypochlorous acid, which is the exact same ingredient in the Briotech spray for much less money. It's a miracle worker." — Squid466

"I am 70 years old and started using this in my 30s. I am old now. But my complexion is NOT. There is a reason French women don't wear much makeup. They don't have to. They sell this stuff off of a shelf in French pharmacies, cheap. And believe me, it matches any $400 cream in existence. I guarantee nothing matches this line. It is easily sprayed on and easily wiped off. No extra residue. Comes with four blades and I say these blades are soft gentle, and yet get the job done. Not sure why no one ever thought of coming up with a hair identifier spray. Great value and smells like baby powder. Great quality." — Karine

26. A pair of ~dreamlux~ leggings made with an oh-so-buttery soft material reviewers compare to Lululemon's Align ... but WAY cheaper. If you're looking for a reliably squatproof, comfy, compressive legging, look no further than these.
I bought these on Prime Day, which is the only day I will buy leggings because I hate wearing leggings with a burning passion. My "I'm not like other girls" bit is that for some reason I am always comfier in jeans than leggings. BUT NOT THESE!!! They slide on. The fabric is so lightweight and breathable that it feels like a whisper. The band is so deceptively comfortable that sometimes I'm like, "Am I still wearing them??" I use them to run outdoors because that is the only circumstance I'll wear leggings, and I'm happy to report after several washes, they are durable and compressive enough to withstand workouts. They would be excellent for lounging if I weren't wired in this odd anti-legging way. I have already bought two more pairs and made my friends buy them, too.
Promising review:"Super comfy. I usually don't write reviews, I tried this first before buying Lulu, and these are the most comfortable leggings for every day and even for workouts. Highly recommended!" — Criselle Johnson

4-Year-Old Gets New 'Robot Arm'—Mom in Tears Over Her Response

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A girl who has spent the first four years of her life learning to manage with just one arm is finally getting her dream come true, as she prepares to get her new prosthetic. Life certainly hasn't been easy for Kaisley Hernandez, 4, who was unexpectedly born with one full arm. On her right side, her upper arm developed, but she doesn't have a forearm. It wasn't caused by amniotic band syndrome, but rather, doctors believe that her arm just stopped developing. Indeed, her mom, Destiny Hernandez, 30, told Newsweek that it came as quite the surprise because "no one knew until she was born." The limb difference didn't show up on any of her scans, so it was only when Kaisley was delivered that doctors announced that "she has a deformity." However, Kaisley, of Lubbock Texas, has refused to let her disability get her down and she has become incredibly resilient in the face of adversity. Kaisley Hernandez, 4, who was born with just part of her arm. Kaisley Hernandez, 4, who was born with just part of her arm. @dessshernandez / TikTok "Kaisley is a beautiful, smart, sassy girl, and we hope the world is kind to her," Destiny said. "We have come across her being bullied, and that was hard to see, but we just tell her that not everyone understands, and some people just aren't kind." She continued: "We encourage Kaisley and let her know that anything is possible. She can do everything she wants, and her family will be 100 percent behind her." Of course, having two arms would make life so much easier, and it turns out that Kaisley is finally getting her wish. In May 2025, the 4-year-old got her "nubby" molded for a brand-new activity prosthetic arm, which is sure to improve her life dramatically. Destiny captured the incredible moment when her daughter got the mold taken and shared the video on TikTok (@dessshernandez). The video has amazed and delighted social media users, leading to more than 13.3 million views and over 1.5 million likes on TikTok at the time of writing. During the appointment, the doctor asked Kaisley who her favorite cartoon character is, and there was only one answer for this Encanto fan: Mirabel. The sheer joy as she told the doctor she'd like Encanto-themed fabric to line her prosthetic left her mom fighting back tears. As the cast was formed around her upper arm, Kaisley was "overwhelmed with emotions." While she did seem nervous, her mom explained that it was just because she couldn't feel her nubby while it was in the mold, and it was such an unknown experience for her to face at such a young age. Thankfully, her mom and brothers were on hand to talk her through it and show her what an exciting opportunity this will be. "She is so excited, and she tells everyone 'I'm getting a robot arm.' For now, we are sticking with the activity arm until she gets older and then she can decide which direction she wants to go—there are so many options to choose from," Destiny said. The family will return on July 14 for the finishing touches. After sharing Kaisley's journey on social media, Destiny has been amazed by the supportive response. She never imagined the video would go viral, but she's glad so many people can learn about her daughter's experience, and they can cheer her on from across the world. "We just want Kaisley to have confidence, and we let her know that it's okay to ask for help," Destiny told Newsweek. Many social media users were brought to tears by Kaisley's reaction to the prosthetic mold, and the online reaction has generated over 7,000 comments on the viral post so far. One comment reads: "Poor baby, she has the best big brothers." Another TikTok user wrote: "You can see the gravity of it all just weighing on her. She's so little, but she understands it means things will be different." While another commenter added: "Bless her little heart. It must be so overwhelming for her, big change is scary for the best of us. Your family is amazing all being there together supporting her little self." Is there a health issue that's worrying you? A set of heavy duty Tub O Towels wipes that are most definitely not here to play — they're basically the paper towel version of The Rock and can lift up stains on anything from grease to permanent marker to nail polish. A set of disposable Plackers "Grind No More" Night Guards for anyone who sleeps like this 😬😬😬 and wakes up like this. 😫 Each one of these grind-absorbing bite plates can be used up to 30 times to help reduce the tension from grinding your teeth in the middle of the night. EGOHOME Black 12" Memory Foam Mattress review 2025: affordable support for all sleep positions

EGOHOME is an affordable mattress brand that has only recently been brought to my attention. While I often get to test some ultra-luxurious mattresses created by premium brands that appear in the ultimate best mattress guide, I also feel it's important to try the offerings of lesser-known, more budget-friendly brands — and Amazon stalwart EGOHOME fits that bill. I'm always on the look out to add low-cost beds to 2025's best cheap mattress guide, and I felt that the EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress may just be a contender. So, I got myself a full-size and slept on it for over three weeks. You'll find my full review further down the page, but if you're in a hurry here's my review in brief of the EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress... Type: Memory FoamMaterials: gel-infused foam, copper-infused foamFirmness: Medium-firm (7.5/10)Height: 12'Trial Period: 100 nightsWarranty: 10 yearsPrice: From $289 (MSRP $449) at EGOHOME As the name suggests, the EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress is a 12"-tall memory foam bed. While the Black 12" Mattress does come in a hybrid version, I tried the cheaper, softer all-foam version to suit my side-sleeping style and preference for plusher mattresses. The EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress is designed to give a softer feel for side sleepers and anyone who struggles with joint or back pain. It uses "copper and graphene technology" for temperature regulation. The brand describes the all-foam version as delivering a "gentle hug" and providing stable support, while the fiberglass-free inner cover provides fire protection without the risk of skin irritation or breathing problems. I'm primarily a back and side sleeper, but I also rested on my stomach while testing the Black 12" Mattress to find out whether it suits all sleep positions. And you know what? This is one of those rare mattresses that supports all sleep styles. The memory foam is ultra body-cradling, but it also has a firmness that means there's enough support around the hips and lower back. My shoulders were hugged when I slept on my side, while I never felt my hips were dipping when I slept on my back. Not once throughout the testing period did I wake up with aches or pains. I also tried resting on my stomach (I use the word "resting" instead of "sleeping" because front sleeping will never feel natural to me) and my hips were supported, too. This gives it an edge over one of our favorite stomach sleeper mattresses, the budget-friendly Siena Memory Foam Mattress. While the Siena only impressed our front-sleeping testers, the EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress covers side and back sleepers, too. Overall, I rate the mattress a medium-firm 7.5/10 on the firmness scale (10 being the firmest). The EGOHOME didn't impress me in all departments, however. Despite boasting an "anti-heat" graphene and heat-dissipating "CoolFlex Foam", the mattress's cooling properties were disappointing as I felt that the foam trapped a lot of body heat on hot, humid nights. The slow-moving foam also meant the mattress could be a little stuffy and difficult to change sleep positions on. Plus, while I definitely feel a lot of side sleepers will love the shape-molding comfort and medium support of the Black 12" Mattress, I would have really loved there to be more softness and cushioning (the kind seen in the best pillow top mattresses) for my lightweight frame. However, in other arenas, the mattress performed very well. The slow-moving foam meant the motion isolation was faultless, so restless sleepers won't have to worry about waking up their partners. Edge support was also impressive, with the edges strong enough for sitting and getting in and out of bed. When judging this mattress, I always kept in mind the price, and this mattress certainly brought good quality for such a low cost. Frequent mattress sales mean you'll always pay less than $400 for a queen, and you'll also get 100 nights to try out the EGOHOME Black 12" to see if it's right for you. The EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress costs $369.99 for a queen after a consistent 47%+ discount, but the price drop varies between sizes. For instance, a twin is often 35% off but a king is usually 37% off. Here's the MSRP and usual sale price of each size: A current promo code, SAVEVIP, takes an extra 10% off your order and reduces a queen to $333. You can always get an extra 10% off the Black 12" bed, the only difference is that the code changes. For example, the previous code was HONOR10, so check the EGOHOME homepage for the code name before heading to the checkout. When buying directly from the brand's website, you'll get a 10-year warranty, a 100-night sleep trial to try out your new bed, and free shipping. Honestly, a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty is pretty standard in the mattress sphere, but it's still plenty of time to literally sleep on your purchase and get your coverage. (It takes up to 30 nights to know if a mattress is the one for you, and you shouldn't be keeping your mattress beyond 10 years anyhow.) Beyond its own site, EGOHOME has become a big seller at Amazon. You can currently buy a queen EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress for $329.99 at Amazon, which is cheaper than buying directly from the brand but won't include a 100 night sleep trial or a 10-year warranty. EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress: twin was $442 now $261 with code SAVE10 at EGOHOME This mattress is up to 47% off plus an extra 10% off, taking a queen to $333 (MSRP is $699). There's also extras including 100 nights to try out the mattress before deciding whether you'd like to return, a 10-year warranty, and free shipping within one to two business days. Standing a foot tall, the US-made EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress features an all-foam construction made up of three layers: a copper-infused layer of memory foam, a cooling gel-infused layer of memory foam, and a supportive base layer of high-density foam. The layers are wrapped in a bacteria-resistant "Anti-heat" graphene cover, and a fiber-glass-free inner cover supplies a safer flame retardant. There is no pillow top. The bed is relatively lightweight, weighing just 60lbs for a queen. There are no handles for maneuvering the bed, but this isn't really a concern when you consider how light the mattress is. Although EGOHOME rates the Black 12" bed as soft and a mattress that's ideal for side sleepers, I'm more inclined to say it's medium-firm and ideal for pretty much any sleep position. The memory foam molded to my shoulders whenever I slept on my side, but the high density of the support foam had enough firmness to support my lower back when back sleeping and my hips when lying on my stomach. The Black 12" mattress is honestly the first bed I've ever tested that supports and caters to every sleep style. I also ran some subjective tests to measure its comfort and support by placing a 56lb weight on the surface, and I found that it created a 3.5" dip — indicating excellent pressure relief. However, while it no doubt molded to my shape, it didn't provide a plush or cushioning surface (as odd as that sounds, considering its sink-in feel). It also could be stuffy and difficult to move around on, which may pose a problem to combination sleepers who often change position throughout the night. Score: 4 out of 5 Just like the beds you'll find in our guide to the best mattresses in a box, the EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress was delivered rolled up and vacuum packed in a cardboard box straight to my doorstep. I've seen a lot of mattress shipping boxes arriving torn and battered, exposing the mattress inside, but the EGOHOME's box arrived intact. It took two people to get the box up the stairs to my bedroom (which is normal and strongly recommended if you want to avoid injury), but once they propped the box on my bed frame, I was able to unbox the mattress by myself. Usually, I recruit another person to help me unbox a mattress, as it can be arduous work – especially as the previous mattresses I tested were hybrids, which tend to be heavier than other kinds – but in this case the relative lightness galvanized me into doing it myself. For example, the last mattress I unboxed weighed a 103lbs in a full size, while the EGOHOME weighed just 53lbs, making the unboxing process an absolute breeze even when doing alone. As soon as I cut the mattress free from the plastic, it began to expand almost to its full shape. After just 20 minutes, it had reached an 11" height. EGOHOME advises leaving it to expand for 12 to 48 hours before sleeping on it but, I found that it had reached its 12" height way before the 24 hours was up. I didn't detect any off-gassing after unboxing, even though I kept my bedroom door and windows shut. Score: 5 out of 5 I slept on a full size EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress for over three weeks, and here's how it performed in all the categories covered by our mattress testing methodology... The EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress impressed me during the motion isolation tests, which involve placing a glass on one side of the bed and dropping a 10lb weight four, eight, and 12 inches away to simulate someone getting in and out of bed. I then observed how the glass reacts to the drop to gauge whether or not the mattress is good at prevent a person's movements from transferring to another person's side of the bed. At every distance, the glass remained upright and barely wobbled (usually, the glass falls over during the four-inch distance test), indicating excellent motion isolation for bed-sharing couples. Score: 5 out of 5 The EGOHOME website's description of the Black 12" Mattress makes the bed sound as if it offers the same cutting-edge cooling tech as the best cooling mattresses, boasting of its "CoolFlex Foam" and "Anti-heat" cover. Initially, I slept comfortably. The mattress wasn't cool to the touch, but it wasn't warm either. However, then came the beginning of the humid summer weather, and that's when I found the temperature regulation to be sub-par. The foam retained heat, and I often felt stuffy despite the fact that I'm not typically a hot sleeper. While I should point out that my apartment doesn't have air conditioning, I still don't recommend this mattress to anyone who regularly experiences night sweats or lives in a hot or humid climate. Score: 3.5 out of 5 It's often overlooked, but a bed's edge support is important to test as it can tell you whether the edges are strong enough to sleep or sit on without feeling as if you're sinking or going to roll out of bed. Strong edge support is also important if you have mobility issues, as you need stable edges to help you get in and out of bed with ease. To test the edges, I frequently sat on the sides and foot of the beds, such as when getting dressed or taking off my shoes. With previous mattresses I've tested, I often found the sides to be strong but the foot of the bed to be weak and quicksand-soft, often making me dip every time I sat down. However, the Black 12" Mattress kept me well supported whether I sat on the sides or the foot of the bed, and the subjective tests reflect this. When I placed a 56lb weight on the side of the mattress and foot of the bed, I recorded the same measurement: a sink just under 2.5". Score: 5 out of 5 One person's experience with a mattress will obviously differ to another person's experience, so I scoured the web for online reviews from verified customers to see if their views align with mine. The issue is that the online reviews for the all-foam model on EGOHOME's site are mixed together with the reviews of the hybrid model, so it's hard to tell which model each customer is talking about. There are over 150 reviews for the Black 12" (both all-foam and hybrid), with over 130 of those reviews rewarding 5 stars. The consensus is that the mattress is great for preventing shoulder, back, and joint pain, which lines up with my view, but many customers actually found this mattress to sleep cool. (Though bear in mind that hybrids do tend to sleep cooler than all-foam models.) On Amazon the EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress scores 4.4 out of 5 on the basis of over 1,600 reviews; 72% of them are five-star reviews while 17% give it three stars or less. Positive reviews praised its comfort, quality and value for money, while less impressed customers pointed out its heat retention and complained about a lack of durability as well as back pain after sleeping on the mattress. The EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress is an impressive mattress, especially when you consider it's usually under $400 for a queen. It supports basically any sleep position and isolates motion well, making it one of the best medium-firm mattresses for couples with different sleep styles who don't want to be woken up by each other's tossing and turning. Its edge support is consistent, too, so you can sit on the edges without feeling as though you're sinking, sleep close to the edges without feeling you're going to roll out of bed, and get in and out of bed with ease. While this mattress does not feel luxurious or plush in the slightest, the build is still of excellent quality and the fiberglass-free materials means your sleeping in safe hands. However, anyone who experiences night sweats or lives in a hot climate should note that this all-foam bed does have a tendency to trap heat. The Siena Memory Foam Mattress is one our highest-rated picks if you're looking for a mattress on the budget. While it isn't soft enough for side and back sleepers, the Siena does have an advantage over the Black 12" Mattress in that it sleeps incredibly cool. The Siena is also under $400 for queen and comes with a 180-night sleep trial as oppose to EGOHOME's 100-night trial. Learn more in our Siena Memory Foam Mattress review. The Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is ideal for side sleepers thanks to its excellent pressure relief, and we reccomend it as one of the best memory foam mattresses on the market. Like EGOHOME's Black 12" Mattress, it's fiberglass free and a popular choice on Amazon, but it may be too soft for back and front sleepers. Learn more in our Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress review. The Cocoon by Sealy Chill impressed us in the department in which the EGOHOME let us down: temperature regulation. The Chill is, like the EGOHOME, and all-foam budget-friendly bed, only it is a specialist cooling bed. However, the specialist cooling tech does hike up the price to $699 for a queen, but it's worth it if you want to keep night sweats at bay. Learn more in our Cocoon by Sealy Chill Mattress review
