Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Remake Will Fix One Of The Most Annoying Features Of The Original

Yahoo27-03-2025

I'm just gonna level with ya'll, I didn't think much of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in 2004. But a new look at an improved gameplay feature in the upcoming remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta, might just be enough to convert this jaded fan who's convinced the series peaked at Sons of Liberty. In a 12-second clip, Naked Snake can be seen swapping his camo from a foresty look to something more suitable for an urban environment in record time. It's way faster and less cumbersome-looking than the camo-swapping of the original. Check it out:
Hell yeah, that's a whole three seconds to swap camo with an in-game menu that looks pretty snappy. The original required you to pause the game, then select 'camouflage' from a menu, then select 'face' or 'uniform' before choosing your desired pattern.
As I said earlier, at best I feel sorta 'meh' about MGS3; the menu-diving the original demands of you to swap camo, eat anything, and treat your wounds is one of its biggest offenders in my opinion (alongside the boring, self-indulgent story and that god awful song). I found it very hard to stay engaged in the action when the game made me sort through menu screens so often, despite the camo being a genuinely neat idea.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots notably eschewed the whole eating and wound-healing stuff (for the better). It would keep the camo, though. And since it took place many decades after MGS3, there was a sci-fi twist on it that made things much smoother. In MGS4, Old Snake could just lean against almost any wall and absorb the texture via his nifty OctoCamo which, it turns out, was inspired by the natural camouflage abilities of real-life octopi.
The natural ability of octopi was also referenced in MGS4 via the game's opening faux TV ads.
While some of us might be a little skeptical of this post-Kojima MGS future we're entering with Delta, it's nice to see Konami looking for opportunities to improve existing aspects of the game. Here's hoping eating and wound-healing will be just as speedy in the remake, which arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 28, 2025.

If Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid ever crossover, Kojima knows who should be a porter, even though they "won't be able to carry things so much"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. A crossover between Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid is pretty unlikely. Hideo Kojima and Konami split on seemingly acrimonious terms, and we've only seen remakes and re-releases from the latter series for years now. Still, should it happen, Kojima has a notion about who'd manage the tricky job of being a porter the best. When asked by IGN during a Death Stranding 2 event who from the Metal Gear canon could make the jump over to delivering across the KNOTS, he named Dr. Hal 'Otacon' Emmerich, tech genius and Solid Snake's trusted friend. "Maybe Otacon!" Kojima laughs. "But he won't be able to carry things so much." Sadly, he's probably right. Physical strength and endurance are necessary qualities for any good delivery person in the wasteland of Death Stranding, and Otacon doesn't appear to have much of either. But, he's excellent and solving problems and knows a thing or two about improvising under pressure. Stuck somewhere with BTs hanging around, Otacon would find a way to somehow escape without taking too much damage. Same for Demens, who'd probably be left perplexed by some gadget or other by the military scientist. Otacon is the kind of guy you want around in a pinch, even if he's not the person you'd like assigned to your delivery. Unlike Sam Porter Bridges, Hal's backpack isn't getting too full. But maybe he's the sensible one in that regard, given how much of Death Stranding you spend picking up and re-Tetris-ing your own overfull pack of goods. This is all extremely hypothetical, and the Death Stranding games aren't in need of the boost. The second, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, arrives on June 26, taking place predominantly in Mexico and Australia instead of the US. Aside from having whole other countries and continents to wander, Sam gets more hands on this time, helping communities he encounters in different ways. As it's a Kojima Productions game, most narrative elements are protected through esoteric teases. There's a talking ventriloquist's dummy, though! Never change, Kojima. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater comes out on August 28, 2025. Hideo Kojima already has a Death Stranding 3 pitch that could relate to a DS2 plot device, but "I am not going to make it myself"

Beloved Konami PS2 Game Permanently Delisted From PS Store

An acclaimed Konami PS2 game has been delisted from the , and the publisher has suggested that its removal is permanent. Developed by Treasure, originally released on the PS2 in 2004, followed by a digital release for the PS3 in 2015. The latter has now been pulled from PSN. Gradius V's delisting was first reported by GameSpark (via Delisted Games), who noticed that the game was no longer available to purchase via PS3's storefront. The website decided to reach out to Konami, and surprisingly, received a response. A machine translation of Konami's statement reveals that the publisher blamed software license expiry for Gradius V's removal. It's unclear what software license Konami is referring to since the company owns the Gradius IP. As Delisted Games points out, the PS3 version was released in 2015, so it looks like Konami had a 10-year agreement of sorts. Whatever that agreement was, it's unlikely to be renewed as the publisher has told GameSpark that 'there are various issues that cannot be resolved immediately and there are currently no plans' to revive Gradius V or port it over to modern consoles. Those who already own the game will continue to have access to it, but Gradius V can no longer be purchased on the PS3 since it didn't release on disc. Konami Stock (9766) Jumps on Silent Hill Remake Announcement

Konami (JP:9766) stock jumped on Friday after the video game company announced a remake of Silent Hill, the first title in its long-running horror game series. This remake will be handled by Bloober Team, the development studio behind the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2. Additionally, NeoBards Entertainment is working on a new entry in the series, titled Silent Hill f, set to be released on Sept. 25, 2025. Confident Investing Starts Here: Konami didn't reveal much in the way of details about its Silent Hill remake. However, it could be a huge success for the company if it follows in the footsteps of the Silent Hill 2 remake. The video game developer is taking a page out of Capcom's (CCOEF) book, which has attracted gamers with its remakes of Resident Evil games. It makes sense that Konami would want to cash in on the recent success Capcom has seen, and Silent Hill is the perfect way to do it. Both Silent Hill and Resident Evil started on Sony's (SONY) original PlayStation back in the 90s and spawned a large collection of sequels and spinoffs. If there's any series out there that can rival Resident Evil, it's Silent Hill. Konami Stock Movement Today Investors appear pleased with Konami's plans to remake Silent Hill. Shares of 9766 jumped 2.52% on the news alongside a trading volume that was roughly double the company's three-month daily average. The recent rally also extended positive 2025 movement for Konami, with shares up 39.36% year-to-date. Is Konami Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold? Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for Konami is Strong Buy, based on four Buy and a single Hold rating over the past three months. With that comes an average 9766 price target of ¥20,168, representing a potential 1.74% downside for the shares.
