18-month road closure in Johor Baru for RTS Link construction
JOHOR BARU: A crucial section of Jalan Johor Baru–Endau has been fully closed to traffic from June 3 and will remain so for more than 18 months to facilitate construction of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link.
The Public Works Department announced that the full closure, affecting Section 0.10 to Section 0.20 of the road, wouldl be in place until Dec 31 next year to allow round-the-clock construction works.
In a statement, MRT Corporation (MRT Corp) said the closure was necessary to carry out piling, pile cap works, and column erection as part of the RTS Link infrastructure, which will eventually connect Johor Baru to Singapore.
During the closure of Section 0.10, motorists travelling from Jalan Tun Abdul Razak (towards Danga Bay) will be diverted via Jalan Station and Jalan Wong Ah Fook towards Jalan Tebrau.
As an alternative, those travelling from Jalan Tun Abdul Razak 1 may use the route in front of Masjid Habib Hassan Al-Attas towards Danga City Mall, make a U-turn, and return to Jalan Tun Abdul Razak before turning left onto Jalan Lingkaran Dalam.
Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic signages and instructions from on-site traffic personnel to ensure safety and minimise disruptions.

Saarani said a new hospital is also needed in Gerik to provide treatment to victims due to the high frequency of accidents on the highway. 'Gerik needs a new hospital as well as experts, staff and facilities. A separate paper will be prepared by state health committee A. Sivanesan on this,' he said, adding that both papers will be forwarded to the federal government for consideration to be included in the next Malaysia Plan. 'I will also speak to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on June 15 about the proposals to improve the situation near the highway,' he added.

Johor motorists can claim compensation for accidents caused by damaged roads, says exco
ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 24 — Motorists involved in accidents due to road damage in Johor are entitled to claim compensation, said Johor Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh. He said motorists can claim for damages to their vehicles, but must provide evidence showing the incident was caused by potholes or impaired roads. 'If an accident happens where there is vehicle damage due to road damage, motorists can make a claim to the concessionaire responsible for supervising the route,' he said during the question-and-answer session at the Johor state legislative assembly in Kota Iskandar today. Mohamad Fazli, who is also the Bukit Pasir assemblyman, was responding to a supplementary question from Datuk Pandak Ahmad (BN-Kota Iskandar) on the quality of road paving and repairs in Johor. He said motorists must take photographs of the accident or vehicle damage, as well as the road defect. 'They must also include details of the location and time, a police report, and related receipts. 'An official letter can then be submitted to the relevant parties and road concessionaire involved, such as local government authorities, the Public Works Department (JKR), or the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA),' he said. Mohamad Fazli added that a motorist was recently awarded RM721,000 in compensation by the Johor Baru Sessions Court.
