Third suspect arrested after shot fired at group on Salford street

A third man has been arrested following a 'shooting' in Salford.
Officers were called out to Littleton Road, in Kersal, shortly before 3pm on Friday (June 20) following reports a shot had been fired towards a group of men in the street.
Greater Manchester Police believes a group of men on Suron bikes travelled towards the men on the street 'at speed' before a firearm was discharged towards them.

They then left the area on their bikes, with officers later searching locations across Greater Manchester to find them.
A 24-year-old man, who was found in Cheadle, Stockport, and a 36-year-old man were both arrested in connection with the incident.
Armed police were also seen in attendance on Manchester Road, in Walkden, and near Agecroft Cemetery on Friday.
In an update issued this morning (Sunday), GMP says a 23-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with Friday's incident.
He remains in custody for questioning this morning. The other two suspects have been bailed pending further enquiries.
GMP says officers, including special operations police, remain in attendance in the Littleton Road area today.
A force spokesperson said on Saturday: "We are continuing to follow up lines of enquiry to determine any others involved and the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
"Additional officers remain in the area for reassurance and to investigate."

The Manchester Evening News understands an arrest was made at Agecroft Cemetery after officers spotted a man following the suspects in a van, who was thought to be disqualified from driving.
He was arrested but later released with no further action following checks by police, it is understood.

The Home Secretary has decided to proscribe Palestine Action and will lay an order before Parliament next week to make membership and support for the protest group illegal. 'The UK's defence enterprise is vital to the nation's national security and this Government will not tolerate those that put that security at risk.' Palestine Action posted footage online showing two people inside the base at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Friday morning. The clip shows one person riding an electric scooter up to an Airbus Voyager air-to-air refuelling tanker and appearing to spray paint into its jet engine. The group has staged a series of demonstrations in recent months, including spraying the London offices of Allianz Insurance with red paint over its alleged links to Israeli defence company Elbit, and vandalising US President Donald Trump's Turnberry golf course in South Ayrshire. Ms Cooper said the ban will allow law enforcement to 'effectively disrupt the escalating actions of this serious group', describing a further vandalism attack on a Jewish-owned business last month that Palestine Action claimed responsibility for as 'clearly intimidatory and unacceptable'. 'Proscription represents a legitimate response to the threat posed by Palestine Action,' she said. 'Its activities meet the threshold set out in the statutory tests established under the Terrorism Act 2000.' The announcement comes as protesters clashed with police at a demonstration in support of Palestine Action in central London on Monday. The crowd surged towards police when officers tried to detain someone in Trafalgar Square in central London, while onlookers chanted 'let them go'. The protest had initially been planned to take place outside the Houses of Parliament, but the location was changed early on Monday morning after the Metropolitan Police imposed an exclusion zone. The Met Police commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said he was 'shocked' by the planned protest and described Palestine Action as an 'organised extremist criminal group'. The Home Secretary added the proscription is specific to Palestine Action and does not affect lawful protest groups or others campaigning on issues around Palestine and the Middle East. The Home Secretary has the power to proscribe an organisation under the Terrorism Act of 2000 if she believes it is 'concerned in terrorism'. Some 81 organisations have been proscribed under the 2000 Act, including Islamist terrorist groups such as Hamas and al Qaida, far-right groups such as National Action, and Russian private military company the Wagner Group.

Man arrested for Umlazi mass shooting that left eight dead

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a mass murder in Umlazi's Zama informal settlement last month, where eight people died. The man was arrested over the weekend. KwaZulu-Natal provincial police spokesperson Captain Ntathu Ndlovu confirmed the arrest, and said the suspect would appear in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. The mass shooting took place on 16 May. Police said they responded to reports of multiple murders, and upon arrival at the scene, eight people - six men and two women - whose ages range between 22 and 40 years old, were found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. According to the police, the victims were inside the dwelling when an unknown number of suspects entered and opened fire, killing the victims at the scene. Police said they are investigating possible motives for the killings and have launched a manhunt for additional suspects. They have also appealed to anyone who may have information that could assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number, 086 001 0111.

Bride shot dead at wedding party in French village

A 27-year-old bride was shot to death as she left her wedding celebrations in a small French village in the early hours of Sunday. Authorities have not released the woman's name. Her husband, 25, and a 13-year-old child were also seriously wounded in the attack, which took place at 4.30 a.m. local time (10.30 p.m. ET Saturday), according to a statement from local prosecutor Florence Galtier, published Sunday. The couple were married on Saturday and celebrated with around 100 guests, before getting into a car to leave the venue in Goult, a village to the east of the city of Avignon in southeastern France. 'A vehicle pulled in behind them, blocking their way, with a number of hooded individuals on board,' the statement from the prosecutor said. 'These people then got out of the vehicle and started shooting in the direction of the victims, with what appear to be have been various different kinds of weapons,' it continues. One of the assailants died in the attack, while the rest fled the scene on foot, according to the statement, which adds that another wedding guest was also slightly injured. Prosecutors said autopsies are scheduled to be performed at the beginning of the week, and that they have launched an investigation on charges of murder committed by an organized criminal group and attempted murder as part of an organized criminal group. Local mayor Didier Perello told CNN affiliate BFMTV that the shooting is unprecedented. 'Goult is a quiet village, which has never experienced events of this type. Twenty-four hours later, we are still in shock (…), it is above all anger that drives us today,' he said. BFMTV also reported that a third person died overnight into Sunday in a separate shooting in Avignon, but it is not clear whether the two incidents are connected.
