'The Boys' Colby Minifie on Series Finale: ‘Extremely Satisfying'
If you weren't excited enough about how one of television's most chaos-loaded shows opts to bid farewell in its series finale, this should do the trick.
Among the characters in the hit show The Boys, who dislikes (anti) superhero Homelander the most outside of the core group of Butcher, Hughie, Annie and the gang, Ashley, played by Colby Minifie, is high up on the list.
Ashley has been bullied and pushed around by Homelander, among others, in Vought since Season 1, so when Minifie spoke about how the season finale plays out, it turned a few heads. This is mainly because she summed it up in a way that could tease what many fans of The Boys are hoping to see—the end of Homelander's reign.
During an interview with ScreenRant, two words effectively summed up Minifie's thoughts after learning how the series finale plays out.
"Extremely satisfying."
"I just read the finale last night. It's an extremely satisfying finale," Minifie said. "That's what I will say. It's extremely satisfying. I was getting emotional reading it."
Considering Ashley took Compound V at the end of Season 4, the same thing that has sent Butcher into a tailspin, but also allowed him to go toe-to-toe with Homelander and other superheroes, it makes the comments even more interesting.
Fans will have to continue speculating for a good bit longer before we finally receive an answer on how the creators will end the series, as the expected premiere for Season 5 is in 2026. However, if the first four seasons are any indication, the last hurrah won't disappoint.'The Boys' Colby Minifie on Series Finale: 'Extremely Satisfying' first appeared on Men's Journal on May 26, 2025

'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Teases New Series ‘Countdown' Fans Won't Want to Miss
The Boys has led to multiple television and movie roles for the stars of the hit show, although most of them had lengthy resumes before the popular series. However, the emergence of one popular character went so well that it led to a spinoff series for Jensen Ackles. Ackles, who portrays Soldier Boy in The Boys, will be a centerpiece of the upcoming spinoff Vought Rising, which already has plenty of intrigue surrounding it. Along with that series, Ackles is also a headliner for another upcoming Amazon Prime Video show, Countdown. The new crime series is set to be released on June 25, with an impressive roster featuring Jessica Camacho, Eric Dane and Elliot Knight, among others. Ahead of the show's release, Ackles spoke to TV Insider and hyped up the series while also explaining what initially drew him to the project. "Then I got a clear sense of what he wanted to do. I was like, 'Oh, this is not only in my wheelhouse, it's the stuff I grew up being attracted to,'" Ackles said of the show Countdown. The Boys star also had high praise for the rapport between the characters in the show, stating there's a "disgusting amount of chemistry." "You really get a sense of who these people are. Not just together as the team, but individually," Ackles added. "That lets the audience invest in the characters and not just the was a disgusting amount of chemistry that was formed very quickly off-set that lends itself to on-set chemistry."It's high praise from Ackles, and showrunner Derek Haas explained that while many crime shows in previous years have embraced the "dark" aspect of detectives, Countdown will be the opposite. Haas described it as classic popcorn entertainment. "The last 20 years of television—not in a bad way—[has embraced] the sort of dark sensibility where if you have a detective, it's like they're so haunted by the job, they drink and all of these things,' assesses Haas. As TV Insider explained of Haas's assessment: "This new series, he says, is the opposite: a classic popcorn entertainment with cheeky heroes, smart dialogue, and practical stunts galore." "I just like the fun vibe of those old movies," Haas said. Fans of Ackles' work should be excited about what's ahead for the man many know as Soldier Boy, and they should expect to see a lot of him in the coming years.'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Teases New Series 'Countdown' Fans Won't Want to Miss first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 16, 2025

'Ted Lasso' Fan Favorite Brett Goldstein Calls Season 4 Announcement a ‘Relief'
Brett Goldstein has emerged as one of the many beloved characters in the Apple TV+ hit series Ted Lasso. He portrays the popular player-turned-coach Roy Kent, who has a gritty personality and doesn't love small talk. It seems Goldstein's disinterest in small talk during the show may translate to real life in some ways, specifically when it comes to being asked questions about Ted Lasso's future From the sound of it, Goldstein didn't exactly love fielding the constant questions on the topic of whether Ted Lasso would even return for a Season 4, before the news was officially revealed. He made that much known during a recent interview with Variety. When the topic of Goldstein no longer having to address the questions about the show's future when they arose, it sounds like they were tougher on him than the current queries he gets. "That is such a relief," Goldstein said of no longer having to answer questions about the show's future. Goldstein, who plays Louis on the hit show Shrinking, is also an executive producer and writer for the show. While he's in the same boat as the rest of the Ted Lasso cast, having to remain tight-lipped on Season 4, he did call it "exciting" to be back with the rest of the show's actors. "Obviously, I can't tell you a single thing about it, of course, but we're working on it, and it's good," he says. "It's exciting to have everyone back together." One thing fans can rejoice in is the fact that they'll be treated to more of Roy Kent in the upcoming season. Unfortunately, no specific release date has been set, but filming was slated to begin mid-July.'Ted Lasso' Fan Favorite Brett Goldstein Calls Season 4 Announcement a 'Relief' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 18, 2025

'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Excited for Reunion With ‘Supernatural' Co-Star in Season 5
When the 15-season run of the popular series Supernatural came to a close, many fans were disappointed for several reasons. One was that the duo of Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) would be no more. However, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who also leads the way in the hit Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, ensured that wouldn't be the case. Padalecki was cast in the upcoming Season 5 of The Boys, and previously revealed to TV Insider that he would be featured in the same storyline, frame and interacting with Ackles, along with another Supernatural co-star, Misha Collins. 'It's a blast," Kripke said. "We already shot it. I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other.' While speaking with Collider about his new series, Countdown, Ackles addressed the reunion with his former co-star, Padalecki, on The Boys, and the excitement about working together again was obvious. 'There's a reason he and I did that show for 15 years because we truly got along, we truly enjoy working together, and we're effectively brothers in real life, too," Ackles said. "So anytime we get a chance to mix it up and do stuff, it's always a blast. He's the best. You can put us two in front of anything; we'll get the job done.' It's exciting for fans of both Supernatural and The Boys, and it goes without saying, but the rapport between Ackles and Padalecki almost certainly picked up right where it left off in 2020.'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Excited for Reunion With 'Supernatural' Co-Star in Season 5 first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 20, 2025
