King Salman and Crown Prince laud successful Hajj and efforts of all sectors

JEDDAH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman have lauded the great efforts made by all those involved in serving the Hajj pilgrims for making the annual pilgrimage a great success.
They made the remarks in reply-cables of thanks sent to Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif. The minister of interior earlier sent cables of congratulations to King Salman and the Crown Prince on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha and the success of this year's Hajj season.
The King and the Crown Prince thanked the great efforts exerted by everyone involved in the organization of Hajj through implementing comprehensive security, preventative, organizational, and service plans so as to enable the pilgrims to perform their rituals in ease and comfort. 'We have closely monitored the tremendous efforts made by all sectors involved in serving the pilgrims, and we were pleased by the keenness, dedication, and mastery we saw from everyone in achieving the honor of serving the guests of God, and witnessing the comfort, security, and reassurance among the pilgrims,' the King said in his cable, praising God for the success of this year's Hajj season, and for bestowing Saudi Arabia the honor to serve the pilgrims.
In his cable, the Crown Prince thanked for the success of the Hajj season, saying that this was made possible by the grace of God and then by the patronage of King Salman. He lauded the efforts made by everyone in the meticulous implementation of Hajj plans with comprehensive monitoring by the relevant authorities to ensure the comfort of the pilgrims.

KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed the religious affairs ministry to begin preparations for the 2026 Hajj immediately, while calling for urgent reforms to the country's private Hajj scheme following a situation that left thousands of pilgrimage slots unused this year. Pakistan received a quota of 179,210 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2025, which was evenly divided between the government and private Hajj operators. While the government filled its full allocation of over 88,000 pilgrims, a major portion of the private quota remained unutilized due to delays by companies in meeting payment and registration deadlines. Private operators, however, blamed the situation on technical glitches such as payment issues and communication breakdowns. 'Preparations for next year's Hajj operation must begin immediately,' the prime minister said, according to a statement released by his office. 'The operational plan should be developed in accordance with the Hajj policy issued by Saudi Arabia,' he continued. 'No negligence in serving pilgrims next year will be tolerated.' Sharif also emphasized the need to 'regularize' the private Hajj scheme. Previously, Pakistan's religious affairs minister, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, had confirmed that over 67,000 private-sector slots went unused, despite a last-minute effort to reclaim some of the allocation. The shortfall prompted criticism and concerns over regulation and the capacity of private Hajj companies. The prime minister has also asked the religious affairs ministry to submit a detailed Hajj action plan with clear deadlines and start preparing for next year's Islamic pilgrimage.

Addressing the UN Economic and Social Council in Geneva, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila said that Saudi Arabia, despite global economic challenges, continues its generous approach as one of the largest donor countries in the humanitarian and development fields. The ambassador said that humanitarian crises have become exacerbated by the increase in armed conflicts and the decline in adherence to international humanitarian law, emphasizing that addressing the root causes of crises is crucial to alleviating human suffering. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia's participation in the global initiative to renew its commitment to international humanitarian law, launched by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and its hosting of several peace talks between parties to conflicts results from its belief in the importance of dialogue to achieve lasting peace. Regarding the Palestinian issue, Bin Khothaila explained that Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the serious violations and war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people. He emphasized that preventing humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip and using it as a tool of war constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, reiterating Saudi Arabia's call for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire. The ambassador noted that a peace conference, co-chaired with France, was scheduled to be held in June, 2025 as part of Saudi Arabia's efforts within the Global Coalition to implement the two-state solution. However, recent developments in the region led to its postponement. He emphasized the importance of integrating relief and development in addressing crises, pointing to Saudi Arabia's integrated model through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).
