NEW DELHI: It was a day when no Indian bowler toiled as relentlessly as
Jasprit Bumrah
. England, replying to India's formidable first-innings total of 471, ended Day 2 at 209/3 — all three wickets belonging to Bumrah.
As always, when India needed a breakthrough, they turned to their premier pacer, and Bumrah delivered.
Bumrah consistently created opportunities, but India failed to capitalise. Ben Duckett was dropped twice early in his innings and made the visitors pay with a fluent 62, before Bumrah finally uprooted his stumps in his second spell.

Ollie Pope, a nervy starter, survived the early phase and cashed in once the ball softened and the pitch eased out.
He went on to score a century.
Bumrah returned late in the day to induce a false shot from Joe Root and then seemingly dismissed Harry Brook — only to be denied by a heartbreaking no-ball call.
That drama unfolded in the final over of the day.
Bumrah, searching for his fourth wicket, bowled a short delivery wide outside off. Brook attempted a pull, mistimed it horribly, and Mohammed Siraj sprinted in from short mid-wicket to complete a fantastic diving catch.

Despite the commanding start, India collapsed in the second session, losing seven wickets for just 112 runs. Ben Stokes (4/66) and Josh Tongue (4/86) led England's fightback with the ball.

But the potential limited participation doesn't affect his thinking and preparation, he said. 'You don't look at what is going to happen. At this moment, I am trying to assess the wicket, and the batter. I am not thinking about how many games I am going to play.' The constant chatter about his career ending because of injuries also doesn't bother him. 'It was once said that I can't play cricket at all. Then it became six months, eight months. But it's been more than 10 years now in internationals and 12 to 13 years of IPL. Still people are saying 'I will go'. People can keep saying, but I am going nowhere. I will keep playing until god allows me to and try taking Indian cricket forward.'

Palou wins at Road America to boost IndyCar season lead
Alex Palou won his sixth IndyCar race in nine season starts, the Spaniard holding off Sweden's Felix Rosenqvist to capture Sunday's Grand Prix at Road America on low fuel. HT Image Palou boosted his season points lead by taking his first victory since last month's Indianapolis 500, enduring after 55 laps over the 4.014-mile, 14-turn road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. "It was a crazy race," Palou said. "Losing a ton of positions and then making them, it was a tough race for everybody." Palou became the first IndyCar driver since A.J. Foyt in 1975 to win six of the first nine races in a campaign. Rosenqvist was second, two seconds back, and American Santino Ferrucci was third, running out of fuel one turn after the checkered flag. Four caution flags in the first 23 laps prompted teams to adopt differing fuel strategies, and by lap 28 it was New Zealand's Scott Dixon leading. American Josef Newgarden was second before crashing on turn 14, leaving Dixon ahead with Palou and Rossi just behind after a lap-31 restart. The race came down to those three trying to conserve fuel over the final laps to reach the end while Rosenqvist, on full fuel in fourth, tried to overtake them. Rossi went to the pits with four laps remaining and Dixon pitted for fuel a lap later, leaving Palou to outlast Rosenqvist with his fuel tank nearly dry. "Kudos to the team for the amazing strategy and Honda for giving us the fuel mileage we needed to make it at the end," Palou said. "Couldn't be happier." Palou, seeking his fourth season title in five years, leads the points chase with 386 with American Kyle Kirkwood, a three-time winner this season, 93 points adrift in second. Palou matched the IndyCar record of three wins at Road America, also held by Mario and Michael Andretti and Emerson Fittipaldi.
